Chapter 5 - A little private investigation

Josh Anthony aka The Brother

Everything happened so fast. Cops came right after, secured the crime scene. Long story short, Josh was arrested for killing her own sister although he screamed "I didn't do it. I swear. You need to believe me I didn't kill my sister.I didn'ttttt..........." his hearts out repeatedly as he was carried away by cops in handcuffs.

Daisy and I, still at the crime scene, reviewed what had just happened. Well at least one of us was: me. Because she was still shaking and crying. I needed to make some private investigations before the detective in charge threw us out of here. After all "here" is now crime scene and we are not authorized. I re-entered Devvy's room which was now put up with yellow tape that says "Crime Scene.Do not Enter...".But I unnoticably lifted up the tape and sneaked myself in the room

...............................................................................................................

Devvy's lifeless body is now covered with nylon-black bag.I put my emergencey gloves on as I didn't want to leave my fingerprints on things I touched. I studied the room once again.Devvy's room is big but there weren't very much to look. Knowing Devvy, she was a very clean and neat person. Sometimes I would tease her by calling her "OCD girl" which she really didn't like.

On one side of the bedroom there was a heart-shped, velvet-sheeted, king size bed facing 56" plasma screen which is hung on the wall. It was hung up on the wall so Devvy would enjoy whatever's on TV from her enormous bed. My assumption was proven once I saw remote's holder on the nightstand right next to the bed.

Just beside the TV is the trophy case where Devvy had displayed all of the awards she had attained. She valued that thing more than she ate. She was always saying "Those are my babies. I will haunt whoever tries to destroy my babies. Even when I die, I will rise up from dead and eat them alive." She would have meant it jokingly. Ironically, I wished she would come back from dead and beat the crap out of whoever took the gold star from her award and not to mention, killed her.

On the other side of the TV, there is a make-up table with a mirror big enough to reflect half-upper-portion of a human body. There weren't a lot of cosmetics on the table. Just essentials for casual night out or in case reporters got through security and came knocking on her door. But her make-up box seem like....recently-used. Like very recently.

A crazy idea ran through me. Did Devvy put on make-up before she died last night? Then again, I approached to the bagged body to check out her now-dead body if she is still wearing make-up.

I squatted down but before I uncoverd the bag on her body, I thought to myself "What am I thinking? I shouldn't do this. This is a murder crime scene and there's still police outside. Just three I guess. And they haven't question me yet. It's better I leave it. What differnece would it make anyway? With or without make-up. May be she did use make-up. But what is the point? She wanted to look pretty before she died? No way..."

I laughed myself in my mind for being so silly.

Then I stood back up. Just then I noticed something and I instantly squatted back to examine. There were some tiny pins on her fingers which were sticking out of the bag. Not very noticable but enough for me to see them. They were so small. When I took a closer, thorough look, they were actually thorns...of somethig.

May be from roses she got from last night concert???I think. I wrote that down in my notebook. I have a habit of writing things that I think might be helpful during trial down in my notebook in case I forgot. Thorns on victims right fingers. OK.

Then I moved to the closet. When I opened the door, I realized it is not just a closet. It is more like a VAULT for clothes. It is so big and vast. But like the rest of her room, it was well-organized. It was organized so well that I could easily see one of her dresses is missing. There was an empty hanger on the closet liner. I wondered if Devvy lent it to her friends. But that's not like her.

Then I checked the bed. There wasn't actually much to look into. Blankets are folded neately and pillows are arranged properly.Nothing was suspicious there. Finally, I walked to the only place I haven't checked in this room. The Window.

I realized that it must have been just my imagination when I thought the 4-feet long window was a bit distant from the room.It was actually 3-4 steps distance from the bed. It was closed. But not very tightly. It is not even locked.Maybe Devvy threw away something out of the window before she went to bed last night and forgot to lock it? With the thought, I looked down through the window.

I couldn't get a clear look because there is a samll ledge on the outside where Devvy grew her potted-plants. She liked to water them. She said it reminded her of her times back in the institute. Back in HOPE, she was in charge of watering plants.

I don't know what kind of plants she had planted as I was being very careful not to touch the widow let alone open it.

Anyway, I managed to see enough. It is quite high from up here but I saw a large dumpster down there in the alley. So it is highly possible that she threw out something last night.I have to go check it out later.Check the dumpster in the alley for.....well...something.I wrote down.

My attentions were called to the stains/trails on the floor as I turned back from the window. It is not very distinct. But as I sat down to study carefully, I realized it was a trail.A very faint trail.

Come to think of it, when we discovered the body, it was leaning on the foot the of the bed.As if someone made that so.And Devvy's died from a tiny blow in the head.So she didn't bleed very much which would explain the faint trail. Suddenly, I was schocked by a crazy thought.

Did someone move the body?

I also saw some kind of....dirt mixed with faint blood stains.I don't know.I will have to leave that to the Police.

Just then I heard a loud voice at the entrance.

"HEY.YOU.What are you doing? This is a crime scene. You are not allowed to be here.Didn't you see the tape?"

I didn't have to look to know whose voice that was .I already know it by its nature.

With a smile I turned and replied.

"Oh.HI Detective DUMB-ASS"
