CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

I WENT home after spending the night at Kelvin's. For the first time since I met him, I slept in his arms and it was everything I imagined it would be. We slept in his living room but first, we spread a blanket on the floor and added pillows and duvet. When I laid on the floor, Kelvin joined me and stared at my face and we talked. I told him of how I had been upset when he got a girlfriend and also how I cried myself to sleep when he got engaged.

"I promise never to make you cry again," he said.

Kelvin told me of how he waited for me to show a sign that I cared when I talked to him in the car after he got engaged. I remembered how he asked if that was all I wanted to say when I finished talking. He had been trying to get me to say more. We both admitted that we were equally clueless at love. I read all his signals wrongly and while he wasn't sure of my interest in him, I made things worse by saying the wrong things.
