Chapter Six

Chapter Six

Demitria Frostine

"So let's start."

I looked at the woman who spoke and I saw the same woman who tortured me. She was wearing a smirk that made my body stiff. I didn’t know how I was able to see her despite of the bright light focused on me.

I don't know how will I react or should I even react so I just stand here in the middle of the room.

"The Headmaster must have been amazed with your skills that he even gave you the opportunity to study here." One of them said.

“That was nothing to be proud of.” I immediately looked down when I realize how many people there was in the room. I wasn’t able to see how big the room was until my eyes were already adjusted with the light.

"Which is clearly unfair to those who are paying to study here. Let's make this short. A girl like you doesn't belong here. This is a place for elites and not for some pest in the kingdom!" Guess who said this?

Well, of course the same woman who hated me and tortured me. I just gave her a smile.

"And you have the audacity to smile?"

She added.

"The Academy was not build only for those who can pay, they build this to help the people of Ingram and the people from the other kingdoms to enhance their skills, to level up their powers. So why are we making a big fuss about a young lady who was given the chance? Is it just unfair for you because your daughters and son's were here because you're paying the academy and she doesn't?" Someone said.

I didn't even take a look on who said that because I was just looking down. I guess this will be the best thing to do because everyone here thinks they are higher that the people of Ingram.

Unbelievably, no one dared to talk. I can even here my breathing and the book shifting the pages.

“The headmaster already gave his permission for her to study here. We are in the middle of the discussion and we are supposed to act like how we are supposed to act.” Lorcan added. I know it was him because of his voice. I know because it was deep and full of authority just like his father.

"We are not here for judgement, she was already done with that, she was tortured already, didn't she? We are here to choose who will she be battling with."

My body become even more stiff when the conversation about the battle started.

"Of course, she should battle with Lorcan! "

"Or Seraphina!"

Everyone stated their opinions and I almost think that they were not elites at all. They do things like this improperly.

.

"What if..."

Everyone stopped from saying their opinions when the woman spoke again. I felt nervous when I saw her smirking at me again that I know that she was planning something.

“Mother, no.”Lorcan said. It was his mother? The one that tortured me? I looked at him and change my glances between him and his mother.

She didn’t even look at her son nor answered him. She was staring at me, standing in her position. She was beautiful and full of elegance so she stands out and it makes me feel that I was under her. I bit my lips because I was anxious.

I know that she was planning something.

"We are now in the middle of the year right? a new semester will start soon. So what if we just let her join the battle between elements? To battle with the most outstanding students of the Academy? I know we all want to see what she can do to be given a lifetime opportunity." She said, sounding so proud of her idea. She sat on her chair again when I took a glance on her.

Battle with the most promising students? STUDENTS?!!! How many are they?

"I agree.. it's not like she's going to die in the battlefield right?"

"Do you think it's fair to put her in the battle of the best when she didn't even got to prepare for it?"

I took a glance at her again and saw her smile getting bigger. Her smile scares me to the point that I wanted to go up there and kill her but probably she was stronger than me. She was part of the council and the wife of the headmaster.

"Should we talk about being fair again?" The woman gave me a sullen glance.

No one offered me a sit while they discussed about me while I'm in the middle of the room. They exchanged their opinions about the battle and all I can do was to nod and then look down again.

It feels like I have nothing to say with this matter although it was all about me. My emotions are mixed and I wasn’t sure on what should I feel now.

What I think now is that at least someone still believes that I can do more of what I know I can do...

The Headmaster, why isn't he here? No one is defending me here...

"Then it's final. Three days from now is the battle of the best, See you there everyone!" She said and gave me a smirk for the third time.

Everyone started to left the room but I stayed in the middle until I was left alone with him. He stands in front of me without uttering a word. He stared at my eyes. I still have no words to say. I cannot understand what his eyes wanted to tell me. But knowing him, makes me think that he maybe thinks the same like how people like him had judge me. Elites are so high.

I sat on the floor and hugs my knees as I felt pity with myself. I let everyone judged me and I didn't had the chance to defend myself. Tears started to form in my eyes so I immediately stands up and run towards the door. I ran because I didn’t want him to see me at my weakest point.

I have never been this weak in my life. I always fought yet I also wanted to end my suffering but River, he saved me so I needed to save him too.

I continued to run until I reach the garden and sat on one of the bench there. I'm glad that no one else was here. Maybe because it was still class hours.

I stopped crying because I was too fascinated with the different flowers here. I let myself enjoyed the beauty of the flowers to make me feel better.

I realized that if I make myself look weak, everyone will take advantage of me, So I have to be brave and survive here, besides my only reason here was to be stronger so I can save my brother.

"Hi! You are Demitria right?"

A girl approach me extending her hands. She was smiling gracefully and that made her look so cute.

"I am... How did you know about me?"

"Well you kinda became famous for saving the entire town from the shadow warriors so I think you deserve the spotlight." She said as she touch the vacant part of the ground and more flowers started to bloom there.

"Woah, what power do you have?"

"Well, I can control the ground and the plants so Earth haha!" Even her laugh was cute.

"Well, obviously."

“Well, Earth elemental users are divided into two. We can either have flora and fauna or both. Interesting right?” She exclaimed

“It is.”

I watched her talking to the plants and flowers as if they have mouth to talk balk and ears to hear her. She looked happy taking care of those plants and her smile was contagious.

"Are we allowed to grow plants here?" I asked.

“I decided to plant my own garden rather than to wait for someone to gave me flowers.” She answered, still flowering them.

“Deep.”

"Actually, no one really cares about the garden, people like me are just the one who visits it. The only team who cares about it." She stated so sadly that I almost felt the same towards the garden.

"You know, I love plants. Almost all of us in the town loves them." She suddenly looks to me with her eyes widened. It looks like her eyes was shining with stars.

"Really?"She asked me and even cutely crossed her hands under her chin. I nodded.

It was true, almost all of us in the town protects the plants and we grow our own garden. River loves them so much.

"Camellia!!" We both looked at the guy running towards us.

"Hi! Demitria, Right?" He asked and like this... Uhm I wasn’t able to ask her name a while ago..

"I'm Craig, and this is my twin sister, Camellia."
