Approaching Another City, Tension Rises

They stayed up later than normal that night, making certain the men from earlier didn’t come back. But they eventually settled in for sleep, confident that if something were to happen, Nova would be able to alert them of any new dangers. And once the excitement of the fight had disappeared it left Braelyn feeling exhausted. She fell asleep quickly, as she snuggled into Ethan’s chest, hugging him tightly that night instead of him hugging her.

“Things are getting dangerous.” Ethan said the next morning after breakfast.

“Really, I hadn’t noticed.” Braelyn retorted sarcastically.

“Ha ha, very funny. This may have only been the second time we were attacked, but there are bound to be more dangers along the way.”

“I know that Ethan, I do, but what do you want me to do? Should I turn back? Abandon this quest? Say sorry mother and father, you’ve been imprisoned for my whole life but you’re on your own still?” Braelyn said, growing angry.

“That’s not what I am saying at all.”
