After breakfast, Annette and Todd leave to go shopping. Todd had to use his magic to shrink his size down by a couple inches so he could be able to fit in Annette's 1990 Toyota Carola. He had to make sure as well his horns didn't scrape up against the roof of the car.
"Did you remember to bring the shopping list, Todd?" Annette asks before she starts the car.
"I did, Annette. I added a few things I thought we could get." Todd hands Annette the list. He was sitting in the backseat of Annette's car since he didn't quiet yet feel comfortable sitting in the front seat.
"Todd you don't have to sit in the back seat. Come sit up front. You have a bit more leg room."
Todd gets out of the car and goes around to the passenger side door. He opens it and gets back into the car. "Sorry."
"Don't be sorry. You're a grown boy. You can sit up front with me instead of the back seat." Annette puts the key into the ignition and turns the key. The engine of the Toyota roars to life. A puzzled look appears on Todd's face, making Annette laugh. "Lets get going. We have a busy day today and I would like to get some work in the garden done today if possible."
"Why would you want to work in the garden?"
"In a couple of months, will be the first frost. I would like to get some tulip bulbs planted so by spring I could have some different flowers for the garden." Annette backs the car oud of the driveway, being careful to avoid hitting the garbage can.
"Everyone is going to be so glad to see you again and how much you have grown, Todd." Annette pulls out onto the street once she had backed out of the driveway and drives off.
"You think they'll remember me?" Todd wasn't looking forward to seeing everyone's reactions of a demon walking around in broad daylight. He could use his magic again to disguise himself but he had to be careful on how much he used. He may have not been the only demon summoned by Annette. "So besides tulip bulbs, what else are we buying at the store?"
"I noticed this morning at how uncomfortable you looked sleeping on your old bed. So I was thinking you could have a bigger bed. But in order to do so, we'll have to make your room into the old guest room. That way you can sleep comfortably a bigger bed."
"Annette you don't have to do that. I'm fine sleeping in my old room."
"Nonsense, Todd. You've grown a lot since I have last seen you. I think it's about time you get a bigger room. Besides Arthur would have wanted you to have that room. He did love you. It's too bad you didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him."
Todd glances over at Annette. He could see the unshed tears in her eyes. It was evident that she loved her late husband very much. "So besides a new bed and furniture for my new room, what do we need for groceries?"
"Since you're living with me now, I'll need to have my kitchen a bit more stocked. We will need fruits, vegetables, canned goods, and maybe even your favorite cereal. You still like Lucky Charms, right?"
Todd did like to enjoy food but the foods that were available in Hell were a lot different than what humans eat on Earth. He would still eat whatever kind of food Annette would serve him but there was a good chance that he may end up getting sick. A sick demon was not a good sight to see. But Todd decided it would be best to at least try to eat the food Annette may fix. Once summoned a demon had to listen to their summoner, til their contract came to ened, however soon or however long it would take for the contract to come to an end. Todd guessed that Annette, if she was lucky, would have at the most maybe another twenty years of life at the most.
Annette turns on the radio and turns it to a radio station that played 90's music. Thunderstruck by AC/DC starts to play.
Todd listens to the song but soon enough even he was drumming the beat out on the dashboard. He knew humans had made good music but everyone had their own definition on what was good music.
After driving for a bit, Annette pulls into the parking lot of the grocery store. As soon as she found a parking spot, she shuts the car off. "Don't forget the list, Todd," said Annette.
"I won't," said Todd as he unbuckles his seat belt. He wasn't looking forward to dealing with groups of humans. Each person reacts differently when dealing with demons. He just hoped it wouldn't become widespread panic.
