Aaron was laughing as he dragged Pippa up the Junk Tower. She was shaking like a leaf, frightening out of her mind. The courage that she had carefully built up was ebbing like the tide.
"She's white as a sheet," Aaron chuckled. "You scared, little tiger?"
"Shut up, Aaron," Kyle said, jerking Pippa's arm as he glared at her. "Where are the others, kid? Where did they go?"
"They're gone," Pippa murmured, smiling in spite of herself. "Safe at the camp."
"Damn it!" Kyle struck her on the side of the head. "We'll see how much you're smiling when we take you to Morgan."
Pippa breathed in. She was so afraid.
The camp on the top of the hill looked much the same as their own. Pippa looked for the girl who they had taken Daisy from, but could not see her. Had she been punished?
