5. The alpha

He slammed the door to his office, flipped the table. “fuck, fuck fuck” he yelled loudly. Everyone in the building could hear him and disappeared, they had never seen him like this before, only his Beta, Christian and his other 2 best friends Luke and Cammie remained. They hadn’t seen him like this before either, but they didn’t feel like leaving him alone like that as well. After 15 minutes of rampaging their Alpha seemed to calm down. Christian approached him with cautiousness. “I assume something happened; can you please enlighten us?” Xander looked at him, and said, I just think I found my mate…..” as he said it he felt his wolf cry out for her and Xander began yelling at Christian” I don’t want a fucking mate Christian” Christian exchanged looks with Luke and Cammie. “who and where is she? and what can we do?” Christian asked, knowing that it wasn’t good for the Alpha not to have his mate around him to calm his wolf. “didn’t you listen Christian”, Xander growled and threw something that broke into a million pieces, “I. DON’T. WANT. A. FUCKING. MATE.” Inside Xander his wolf whimpered, it wanted his mate. Christian stood there trying to stay calm. Luke asked, “well do you want to reject her then?” In a matter of seconds Xander had his hand on Luke’s throat slamming him against the wall, letting out a loud growl “what did you say” Christian and Cammie immediately tried to step in trying to make Xander release Luke’s throat, Christian looking in the eyes of Xander, his 6,5 ft tall Alpha, trying to calm him down, his eyes had went from his usual emerald green to golden, it was no longer Xander who was in control, but his wolf Xavi. Luke struggled to get out of the grab but Xander was the strongest, Cammie shifted to her wolf form, and she and Christian tackled Xander to make him release Luke. Xavi was so focused on Luke that he got taken by surprised, and he landed hard on floor. Luke shifted as soon as the hand left his throat. Xander got up looked at his dear friends realising what he just did, he left. He slammed the door so it broke, left the building and ran into the woods, where he shifted. His wolf was bigger than a normal wolf, it had a rare silver fur with a hint of blue in it and on the left of his hindquarters there was a black mark of half a moon, more precisely the third quarter half-moon. He needed to run, so he ran and kept running, until his legs were burning. He welcomed the pain and he kept pushing himself through the pain. He was angry at himself for hurting his friend. He was angry that he had a mate, he was angry that his wolf was longing for her. He was angry that he couldn’t get the image of her, standing in the door with her ragged jacket and yellow blouse and black leggings, wet from the rain and dirty from the fall but still smiling, out of his brain, and the blue eyes of hers or the golden, blond hair.

He had been at the school where he scented her before he saw her, he followed that sweet scent only to see her in school hallway being pushed around by some of the boys at the school, she didn’t defend herself, she stood there tall with a friendly smile, as the boys told her how they would do stuff to her, they threatened her. But she just stood there gracefully smiling. He had scented her, it was the sweetest scent he had ever know, and his wolf cried out “MATE! HELP HER ”then one of the boys pushed her, and told her “girls like you don’t need to read, you are only useful from your hips and down” he had wanted to kill him so badly, but she just began collecting her books, she didn’t reply or cry. She just bends down and picked the books up. He had gone there, helped collecting her books and handed them to her. She didn’t even look up. “thank you, she said with the sweetest voice he had ever heard. Then she left. Xander had been so angry he had followed the boy who had talked trash to her, and he had giving him a beating he would never forget. He had wanted to kill him, but Christian had intervened. He then had followed her scent, until he saw her, again collecting the books this time it looks like she had taken a fall. She was hurt, he could feel it inside his bones. He had helped her gathering the books, this time she had looked at him, and he had been feeling as if he had been hit by a train. Her eyes, her eyes, was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, and he couldn’t help but just stare. Suddenly, she had panicked, forgetting her books, and he had followed her. She was scared and hurt; he could feel it in every inch of his body. After he left her house, he felt her being fearful. But then it disappeared again. “I don’t want to feel like this” he growled to himself and kept running until sunrise. He had no idea where he was, but if the sun was rising, he needed to get back.

He found the nearest city sign and mind linked to Christian.

“hey, I need a lift back to the city”

“where are you”

“some place called independence”

Christian gave out a little whistle “damn that’s 687 miles away, that’s far away even for you”

“just send a chopper”

“yes Alpha”

“oh, and Christian, sorry”

Xander closed the mind link and waited for the chopper, he stayed in the forest, as a wolf until the chopper was there.

Christian jumped out and threw him a bag of clothes. Xander changed fast, and closed his eyes on the flight, hearing the chopper and seeing the picture of the most beautiful eyes in the world. He knew that he didn’t want a mate, but he also knew that he needed her nearby.

He murmured “her name is Hannah.”
