9. The rejection
Xander paced back and forth in his office, he knew something was wrong. The mate-bond hadn’t been broken. At first, he thought it just needed some time, but several hours had gone by and nothing had still happened. He could still sense her feelings and the longing for her hadn’t disappeared. Xavi had refused to talk to him since the attempt though, he just growled with fury. Power radiated of him Xander and he knew his Alpha aura, was slipping out. He decided to have a training session, so he walked into his room, to change out of his suit. As soon as he reached the door, he caught the scent of a she-wolf inside his room. “what does she want?” he growled to himself. He opened the door, and there on his bed laid Roxy in what he assumed was supposed to be a seducing pose, she had nothing on except high black heals.
“What do you want Roxy”, he asked letting her know he was annoyed.
“I want to help you stop being so tense” she let her hands caress her body.
“I don’t think the pack whore can help me with anything” he growled.
Roxy flinched by the words pack whore, but she got up from the bed and approached him, swinging her hips with confidence. Xander knew that most unmated males in the pack, had touched her, she had even tried to throw herself at him a few times.
“I am not in the mood to play nice Roxy”
“Who said I wanted nice” she stood in front of him with confidence, and let her red long fingernails trace down his chest. She looked into his golden eyes.
“Xander don’t you will hurt our mate” Xavi growled.
“Fuck our mate I don’t need her” Xander replied his wolf, watching the woman in front of him. He grabbed her hands to make them stop tracing down his chest. He looked into her green eyes; they were darkened with lust. Something he didn’t feel himself; he couldn’t manage to feel just an ounce of lust for Roxy. Her red lips, her painted face and dark brown hair it all felt wrong. He stared at her like this for a few seconds, her hands caught between his, raised above her head trying to force himself to feel just the physical lust for her, he didn’t even bother to care for her. but he couldn’t. He just kept seeing a blond girl with blue eyes looking at him with care. He looked at Roxy, and let go of his hands “Get out”
“Oh, don’t be like that, I can be your Luna, we both know I can satisfy you.” She winked at him.
Xander laughed at the thought of Roxy being his Luna. “Do you really think that you could become my Luna?” he said harshly. “I think you should wait for your own mate to come around, instead of spreading your legs to every unmated male you come across”
Xander knew it was harshly said, and he didn’t really care, he was in a foul mood, someone had to tell her. “I am not going to tell you again Roxy, get out.”
Roxy had flinched at his words, closing her eyes then she turned around grabbed her kimono. Xander hadn’t even seen it lay on the floor.
She put it on and looked at him “you will regret this Xander” she said. “I am the best you are ever going to get after rejecting your own mate”
Instead of training he decided to figure out why the mate-bond hadn’t disappeared. Christian, come to my office.
Christian arrived within minutes, that’s one of the perks by having rooms in the pack house. Most of the unmated wolves lived in the pack house full time, unless they lived in their parents’ house.
“Something is wrong, the mate-bond didn’t disappear when I rejected her now 24 hours have passed. How long should it take” He said to Christian.
“The breaking of a mate-bond is instant” Christian answered
“Why didn’t it break already” Xander said frustrated.
Christian sighed; “How did you reject her?”
“I said; “I Xander Bluesilver, Alpha of Emerald pack, hereby reject you Hannah as my mate””
“Well you still have a mate; you didn’t use her full name”
“She told me; she didn’t have one”
“Hmm. Well she does live in an orphanage; she might have one she doesn’t know about.
“What can I do to stop this bond”
“Well making her reject you won´t help if she doesn’t know her name either” Christian stated. “It seems like you have a mate, perhaps getting her papers from the orphanage can help you, if you still want to go through with the rejection?”
Xander sighed, suddenly felt Hannah’s fear raise inside of him, it was like it skyrocketed all of a sudden and Xavi growled trying to get in control, “SHE. NEEDS. US.” Xavi growled at Xander trying to gain control so he could save their mate. “Christian, she is in danger I can feel it, do you know where she is right now? I know you have kept an eye on her since you found out she was my mate.”
Christian weren’t surprised that his Alpha knew about him watching over Hannah.
“After the encounter she had with Bryan yesterday, she walked home, and she has stayed there all day today as well.”
She had an encounter with Bryan yesterday, Xander roared and then he lost the battle to his wolf and Xavi forced a shift. “We need to go to her now” He began running towards the orphanage
Christian mind-linked Luke and Cammie, ordering them to bring clothes with them, then he shifted and ran after his Alpha.
