“Nope, I find it strange not going this time,” Mo said as he sighed like an old man. He loves to scratch his dark withered hair.
I laughed . . . and as always, these Warlocks would always have their eyes widened with the wonder of why I am laughing all of a sudden. Because I have plans that are way beyond their grasp. I can see the future ahead. We will soon take over this world!
I took a deep breath as I sat on this temporal throne. A colorful iron chair, that I’ve enchanted that if ever someone try to sit on this will be cursed. But a majestic seat as it glows like the crescent moon. This throne is mine alone as I am the Supereminent of the Warlock Race.
I glimpse a warlock come running towards the throne . . . a message huh? He bent himself into one knee and bowed.
I knew what it would be. The war, it’s still far from over. So, I speak before the wizard could open his mouth, “Tell Genesis he’s not allowed to come back unless he fulfilled his task.”
The wizard tilts his head in confusion. “The general was already back an hour ago and had passed my liege.” He bowed his head again as he saw that I winced at my face.
What did he say? He’s back already? I didn’t expect him to fulfill that task easily.
I cleared my throat and fixed my face. “Update on the war, warlock?” I ask gently.
“Unexpected events are currently happening, my king. A report came that Theophilus joined the war!”
I jolted upon hearing that. And my face turned into a grim one, and I found myself grinning. I’ll forget about the task I’ve given to Genesis; the man is helpless. He keeps on disappointing me and always ends up coming back with empty hands. This is bigger than that. If I take Theophilus’ head and at the same time capture those robot brats, it’s like killing 3 birds with one stone.
So, I stood up, and pushed my yellow cloak. “Mo, we’ll join the war now, ready the portal!” I roared in a command.
Mo bowed and went on. I dismounted from the throne and went to the stairs going down. As I walk across the hall going to the wide bluish door. Warlocks bow their heads as I pass by them. I gave them a magnate smile. That’s right, you should adore your king. And I promise you that in a matter of time we will be the ones to rule the world. The warlock race will run the world!
Our race is the strongest and wisest among them. And we are the only ones with the pure heart of a human. All other races are fools, they are ignorant. Calling us wizards and evil is too cruel. They didn’t know that even during the geriatric age, magic was already present. Man and magic were one. We have been persecuted since the beginning of time and called up wretched witches. It’s about time we change the course of history. The previous Preeminents were fools and weak. Now that I’m the one who sits on the throne I will fulfill the real dreams of my ancestors.
Here we are at the portal window. A room where we send off our Warlocks for war. We are the most majestic among the races indeed. We don't have to hassle ourselves to build machines and ships. Our magic is more advanced than their technology. The Edge race has their junks flying and it’s polluting the planet all the more. And the Draconian race is worse than them. Their filthy machines are worse than the Edges. Though they have gifted powers that seem like magic, but their minds are shallow, they are indeed barbarians. Our only problem is the roaming wild beasts, those despicable Jurassic, damn them. Our magic won't work on them, they are more dangerous than the other races. Someday I will subdue them and make them their pets!
I entered the portal window chamber with a smile that intimidated my fellow Warlocks. They bow as usual. I tilt head my above where I could see my reflection from the ceiling looking down on me. I almost forgot how majestic I look from above. My dyed hair shone more than dark steel. My cloak is more majestic in the entire empire of Warlock.
“My Preeminent,” I halted my steps as I heard Genesis’ voice.
I turned to him slowly with a flamboyant move with a sweet smile. “Have you marked them?” I said in a soft tone.
Genesis lowered his head. “I failed my Preeminent.”
I felt a disappointment surge within me, but I gotta show them courtesy and how merciful their King is. So, I just smiled at him. “But you got something for me, right?” I said while my lips curving up, but narrowed my gaze into him.
He met my gaze. Oh my, this warlock is so scary. So serious but handsome. Tell me something good Genesis.
“I marked the Edge princes,” he said with his normal face. This guy, I’ve never seen him smile or seen him enjoying a moment of his life. Genesis has been following orders seriously and completed them smoothly. There must be a reason why he failed me this time. And I should go easy on him. He's very useful.
“Who joined the party then?” I ask him with a gentle voice.
“Their General and Genus 3 Edges,” he answered calmly.
A warlock clapped his hand that echoed in the chamber. All of us turned to him. “Wow, you are so amazing and magnificent my Preeminent. You’ve seen it through even without hearing the details and you are so merciful and understanding!” He exclaimed enthusiastically.
This young warlock if I’m not mistaken, his name is . . . I can’t remember. So I just smiled at him and showed him how majestic indeed I am.
“Forgive his rudeness my Preeminent. He’s under my command that’s why he’s here. Introduce yourself, warlock,” Mo said.
The boy stood up straight, I can see that he got nervous all of a sudden. “M-my name is Exo, my Preeminent. It’s an honor to see you up close and hear your very gallant tone of voice. I’m a big fan of yours, I’ve been watching tapes of your interviews and I’ve--”
“That’s enough kid,” Mo cut him off. And the young man bit his tongue.
“Don’t be so harsh on young ones Mo, that’s alright. I was like you when I was young, boy. I'm pretty sure you’ll reach such great heights in life.”
The boy blushed, and he bowed deeply, “T-thank you very much my Preeminent. I can’t believe what I’m hearing now. That you are giving me pep talk now--”
“Exo!” Mo scowled on him.
“I’m sorry master,” the boy apologizes.
I laughed in a low voice. “We have such a promising young warlocks in this generation, that is why we will rule this world once more. With peace, and elegance. Follow me, my beloved warlocks,” I cried as I pushed my cloak back and spread my arms. And I can see them all bowed their heads and closed their cloaks.
“Yes my Preeminent,” they all said in unison.
“Alright my beloved warlocks, we will join the war now and take down the head of the barbarian king, Theophilus and get the Edge princess,” I said.
“I won't be joining you my Preeminent, I’ve already used up my magic,.” Genesis said brusquely. This warlock, just at the time I needed him, he’s cowering. Well, I got Mo, and his disciple seems a powerful one as well. I want to drag him as he is powerful almost at my level.
“You have done enough Genesis, leave the rest to me,” I said to him gently. But inside I’m disappointed twice today. But I gotta show them how gracious I am. Especially this young warlock who is a big fan of mine. I can't let him see my dark side now. But Genesis, damn you!
He bowed and went after the door of the portal window. This guy has the nerve to do what he wants. I never ask him to leave yet! But I only smiled and ignored him as Mo and the kid stared at me and seemed to be observing how I was gonna react to that.
I turned to them, “Activate the window Mo, let’s go.”
He bowed and went to the right side where a glass screen desk was hanging. He pressed some buttons. And the glass glowed and flashes a wonderful light.
Truth be told, I hate this chamber. Because this is being supported by technology and it irritates me. I can teleport wherever I want. But this portal window in the General’s tower is the only link and marked to the Princess’ location, so I got no choice. But I need to do something to stop using any filthy technology. We should only rely on pure magic alone. But the previous Preeminent founded these structures that I can just abandon as this has been a norm in the empire. Damn those fools.
Portal windows are all over the Warlock Land. From the Arcazar to other Villa Courts, towers, and all over. This is our way of transportation. We just jump from portal to portal. We are majestic indeed.
Our Empire, the Warlock Land that was founded by the very first Preeminent. He was my great-great-great-grandfather. The most majestic of all the Warlocks. Yet he was succeeded by fools after his death. I’m now the 67th Preeminent. My late father always tells me bedtime stories of how we started in this kingdom as he was told by his father and his father before. He told me that after the Planetary War, the aliens were defeated. Our creator, the early humans started disposing of the Warlocks in secret one by one. And the first Preeminent revolted against it. Thus, they called us in rebellion and out of control. He saved as many Warlocks as he can and finds a place where we can hide and protect ourselves. Then he discovered this Floating Island. The fact that this was flying above the ground was indeed proof that magic was behind it. And he called this land the Warlock Land. And in this floating land, magic is hovering all over. The island manifesting magic. That is why it was easy for the early Warlocks to build their kingdom. And this Land has become impregnable even those powerful Edges and barbarians. A lot of attempts have been made by other races. But they always failed. Even though our population is not that massive, unlike the other races. Our battle force is equal to the other 2 filthy races.
Not only that, the untamed beast can’t harm us as we are way above the ground. This empire is indeed powerful and gracious. This floating land is alive and like our mother that has been protecting our race for thousands of years.
“It’s ready my Preeminent,” Mo said confirming.
“Alright Mo and young Exo, let’s enjoy what we are about to do,” I said with a grin,
The window splashed a light, and we were lifted from our feet, and we’re about to fly towards where Theophilus and the princess are.
