CHAPTER 16

Seven to fourteen days! Who knew that recovery time for a concussion was so long?

I was sure that we would be able to go back to the house in the woods in a day or so. Still, after examining me, Celeste said that I had to take it easy for at least seven days, and then we would reevaluate my condition, and no amount of arguing would dissuade her.

Norah had even taken her side and told me about a boy she knew who'd ended up with permanent brain damage because he'd ignored Celeste and went back to work too soon after a concussion. So for the last five days, I'd spent most of my time either on the sofa or in bed. And it was really starting to get old. I'm not used to lying around all day, and I'm certainly not used to being laid up or sick. For the most part, I am disgustingly healthy. In fact, you could probably count on one hand the number of times that I've been ill in my life.
