Her... Declaration?

Time seemed to stop for a full minute, the silence unbroken by neither the wall clock nor Kelvin keeping the champagne flute on the table.

It was a silence that spoke of Adaora's unbelief and Kelvin's mischievous act; clearly he had known he would get this kind of reaction from her.

In addition to that was his excitement to see her; his black eyes which seemed brownish under the chandelier bored holes into her, and he had to push his palms into his pockets since they itched to grab her, to feel her skin and ensure that even he weren't dreaming.

They stared at each other for minutes, saying nothing, their eyes conveying every emotion they felt. They said nothing even as her father cleared his throat, so lost in each other's gaze that every other thing seemed to blur into the background.

A background that didn't matter to them.
