Chapter 8 - Something like an explanation

Narrators POV

Kendy went to teachers desk and stood there shyly, until everybody else was out of the class.

" So, what is your name and how are you? "

Calesta asked Kendy in a soft and likeable tone, which was exactly what Kendy needed to get her out of her thoughts about the classmate with purple hair, that sat next to her.This was the tone that that nobody could or want to lie to, and could never dislike.

" Hello! Uhh...Hi, uhh...my name is Kendy and, to be honest, it is very confusing. Not to mention weird, and i think I didn't sleep well tonight, because when I was sitting on the benches, outside the class, I saw some students that were similar to animals, and than yesterday, in the evening, I saw thoughts that were very far away, like, I'd say on the other end of the town or something, and the than you wouldn't believe what I saw when I looked at Alexias thoughts, it was like she had two mind joined together..."

The rambling teen got interrupted by the teacher, who now sounded as calm as ever, but her expression looked kind of troubled. Kendy didn't even notice that she had blurted out that she can see thoughts.

" I am going to stop you right there. And ask you a question. Why do you think you got enrolled in this exact school? "

Kendy was so thrown off by the question, that she just stared at Calesta for good 10 seconds and, finally, rememberred that she was actually asked a question, not a relevant one at that.

" Uhhmm, well, it's close to my house and has good reputation, maybe? I...I'm not very sure of the answer as I haven't really...Talked to my mother a lot, lately. Did this answer your question? "

The young girl answered, very unsure and sad about the part of her mother.

" Well, in that case, what do you think is MD? "

Kendys eyes widened of the mention of this phrase.

" Not very sure of the answer to this question either, and I wouldn't really mind if I found out the answer to this question. "

Calesta gave the girl an understanding look.

" I will. But not now. The next lesson starts in a minute and this conversation is much longer than that. Why don't we meet up after school and I'll explain everything? "

" A MINUTE!!?? Okay, I really have to go! "

And by that Kendy ran to her next lesson, which she found very easily as it was in the third floor and thought by someone that wasn't very nice to her for unknown reason.

She, luckily, made it just in time.

And, thanks to who ever made Mr.Berth happy today, the class was relatively bearable.

The rest of the day went mostly calm and boring. Kendy sometimes saw these animalistic humans walking around the school, but tried to not think anything about it, as soon, hopefully, she would get the needed answers from Calesta.

As the bell rang, signalling the end of the lesson, the girl with gold eyes rushed as slow as she could down to the first floor to get the unknown answers.

The class was empty. Kendy went in and Calesta was sitting on a chair that was in front of her desk.

The new girl went next to Calesta and the teacher gave the student a look that said ' you'll need a chair for this .'

When Kendy sat down at a reasonable distance from the teacher, Calesta started explaining everything.

" I'll start with the simple stuff. So, MD is Mental Development but not every human has it. MD gives a human the ability to do some sort of 'supernatural' things. For example, I can feel emotions that are around me, some can borrow other peoples MD for a certain period of time and others can see the future, and that kind of stuff. The interesting thing is that nobodys MD are the same. Just like fingerprints there aren't two of the same MD. And this school is for people like us, people who have MD. And not only that, but this school is the best in the whole world, you have to be really talented or you probably have parents high up the authorities..."

Kendy interrupted.

" Well, actually, I live with my mother and don't remember my father. My mother doesn't doesn't talk about her job, but I'm sure she isn't this...Authority, and yeah, my grades are pretty good as i don't have anything better to do than...study. And to be honest, I still don't understand anything. The reason why students look like partially animals or why did this on girl have a horse and where did this MD come from. And what is the purpose of authorities? And what the hell is wrong with the PE lessons"

" Okay, these are very reasonable questions, but I wasn't finished. Listen, I know you are very confused and kind of scared but, believe me when I say that, when I'm finished, you'll understand everything."

A few seconds of silence went by and Calesta started speaking again.

" As I was saying, you have to be talented or have to have parents that are high up the list of authorities. And since you don't have a parent that is an authority you must be talented... . Anyway, the reason why some students look the way they do is because it is somehow related to theyr MD. And as to why people have animals around them is because we call them Summoned Animals. Every human who has MD summons at least one animal in theyr lifes. We summon them unintentionally when we are in danger. In that one moment of life threatening danger there is done this ritual, same as MD not one ritual is the same, and these rituals happen in the victims head when... "

The teacher once again got interrupted, but this time by something much more dangerous than a teenage girl.

It was a MD, an unseen force that can tell you what it wants without touching, and it told the teacher to stop talking and explaining things to this students or else.

The force sent chills down Calestas back and the older women didn't dare utter a word about anything related to the topic to Kendy of fears of her life.

" Uhh... s...something came u...up and, uhh... it would be better if you went home and we wouldn't talk about this ever again "
