Chapter 14

He was going back. Empty. He didn’t know what he expected to find when he was going there. But he thought that they would at least talk. She hated him. And to be honest he could not blame her.

He knew that he was hurting her, but he didn’t know that he was hurting her that much. He left her all by herself with their parents. He left her by herself.

He wouldn’t even been able to forgive himself.

And all because he was selfish. He just wanted to be loved. Was that so wrong? Yes, if it was at the cost of losing somebody else he loved. Was she lost to him forever? Would he ever be able to find her forgiveness? What if he wouldn’t?

Oh, no. He could not live with himself if he lost her forever. He did an abrupt U-turn right in the middle of the road, hardly paying attention to the traffic. Thankfully it was late enough that there was none.

He had to get back. He just had to.

He pushed the accelerator a little more, gaining speed fast. Gaining attention fast. And right before the turn he had to take to head back to the mansion, he heard the loud screeching noise and then a crash.

***

Lying awake in the middle of the night, he thought about today. Was he crazy? Throwing away everything he worked on just for that girl. He barely even knows her. But her smile makes him rethink everything he had ever done in life, every decision he made.

She wasn’t the one they were looking for. He was sure of it. Nobody is that good at acting. He got the wrong girl. But the guy wouldn’t even think twice before killing her. What if he could just talk to him? Convince that he was wrong. No, that’s too dangerous. For himself and for her. The Black paint might dispose of her just to make sure.

The only way was either to find the real girl or to get this one out of here as fast as possible. The former was not exactly easy to do. It’s better to help her get out of this crazy world. This way she would be safe.

And what about him? He would become the target. The guy would never let him live.

But it didn’t matter anymore. He was a rotten man, not deserving to live. His bad decision is what had got him here in the first place. He was suffering anyway. That was no way to live. So who cares if he died? Definitely not his foster-father. At least this way he would stop his suffering. And maybe even get to see his dad.

Yes, he just got to get her out of here first. And then, it will be the end. Blissful end.
