The Consummation of the marriage was a very important event that was carried out with as much devotion as a marriage. This marked the union of the newly-wed couple in every aspect. But, in most of the cases it would not happen the way it was described in romantic novels and poems.
Anjana watched as the elders sat together with the purohits trying to find an auspicious muhurtam for the event. They had returned to the bride’s house in civilian craft. They had been dropped at the Simhapuri Shuttle Bay by the military vehicles. There they had boarded the Marriage Service Shuttle that had been hired by the bride’s father for the occasion. Only the groom and his close family had arrived. All the relatives and friends had gone home after the reception.
“Hey Anju! Aren’t you packing?” asked Harini. “We have classes from day after tomorrow.” Anjana sighed in desolation. “I wish I could!”
