The Room

The room was dark – totally dark – no matter how long she tried to adjust to the darkness, she could see nothing. That was the level of darkness in the room. You could cut it with a knife she felt. Well, there was no use waiting unnecessarily. She had to move on. She slowly walked forward taking small measured steps feeling in front of her. She felt great sympathy and admiration for those who were permanently deprived of their sense of sight. She now understood how it felt not being able to see anything at all. She realised how lucky she was that all her senses were working perfectly. She spent 2000 million years walking forward – or so she thought – though she had been walking for only thirty minutes, it felt like aeons to her. She finally managed to find something hard and solid – a door at last. She sighed in relief running her hands along the wall for some sign of a clue to open the door. Her fingers found some button which she pressed.
