:Onion

Anton's Pov:

I woke up as I heard noises from the kitchen.

"Good morning Officer Dy!" Aixela smiled. "Did I wake you up?"

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I fried fish for your breakfast! I'm making the sauce. You know, it's delicious when there's soy sauce, lime, and onion. Wait, I'll just slice the onion."

I stood up and took her hand. "Stop it, Xela. Don't pretend."

"Wait, it's almost done. Sit down for a moment," She said and continued slicing. "Onions really hurts the eye, right?"

She keeps smiling while she's wiping her tears. She's even faking her laugh and saying it's the onions' fault.

I took a deep breath and took the knife from her.

"Are you really hungry? All right, I'll put it on the table," She said and went to the dining area.

"I can't go with you at the precinct for now, hmm? It's too messy here, so I'll clean up first. I also feel like my face is too fat already, so I'll have a beauty rest here first. It's also tiring to watch people coming back and forth there. Don't worry. I'll just stay here at your house. I won't make a mess, so hurry up there. You might be late for your job."

She started eating and was still smiling at me. I know she was just pretending.

When I finished putting on my uniform, I saw her sweeping the living room. The house was spotlessly clean, but she still continued to sweep.

"Oh, you're done!" She greeted me. "You still haven't told them you passed the test, have you? I'm sure they will be very proud of you. Just tell me their reactions when you come home, ok? See you later! Take care."

She pushed me outside and closed the door. Maybe she really wanted to be alone. I just went inside the car and drove to the precinct.

While I was driving, Xela never left my mind. I was worried about her. I was afraid of what she might do to herself, so I decided to turn the car. I called Detective Givenchy and told him I would use my emergency leave. I hurried into the house when I arrived and looked for Xela.

She was crying on the floor when I entered the house. She immediately wiped her tears and stood up as soon as she saw me.

"Why did you come back? Did you forget anything?" She asked.

"Get dressed. We're leaving," I said.

"I told you I can't go with you to the precinct for now."

"We're not going to the precinct."

"So... Where are we going?"

¬¬¬

[Where are we?] She showed me her note as we reached our destination.

"Tonton!" Auntie Rebecca waved as soon as she saw me.

"Auntie!"

She greeted me with a warm hug. "How have you been doing? It's been a long time since I last saw you. I thought you forgot to visit us here," She frowned.

"Auntie Rebecca, why would I do that?" I tuck her hair behind her ears. "Of course, I missed you all here, but I have plenty of work these past few months."

"And I heard you got stabbed, didn't you?" She worried. "Does your wound still hurt? Is it deep? Do you want me to check it--"

She tried to pull my shirt off to see my wound, but I stopped her. "Auntie Rebecca, don't worry. I won't be able to drive here if I'm not yet fully recovered."

"Hmm, still, I want to check it... Wait, don't tell me you're getting shy," She teased. "You have nothing to be ashamed of. Auntie Rebecca has seen that all before."

"Auntie!" I expressed.

"Why? Did I say something wrong?" She giggled.

Our heads turned to Xela when we heard her chuckling. She suddenly closed her mouth when she saw us looking at her.

Auntie Rebecca looked at the both of us with her widening eyes and was about to speak when I introduced Xela to her.

"By the way, Auntie Rebecca, she's Aixela. She's helping us out with a case. She's kinda... mute."

Xela smiled and bowed to greet my auntie. Auntie Rebecca started talking while moving her hands [[Hello, dear. How are you? I am Rebecca, Tonton's aunt. Nice to meet you]]

Xela was amazed. I almost forgot. My cousin, Amia, was deaf and mute that is why Auntie Rebecca and Marco know how to do sign language.

Xela also moved her hands while smiling at auntie. Oh, yeah. I remember she's also studying sign language.

They both laughed when they noticed that I was just staring at them.

"She said I am the only woman you're not mad at," Auntie explained. "Well, actually, there's two of us. And here comes the other one."

"Amia!" I called her when I saw her running towards us. I carried her and pinched her cheeks. "You became heavier. You're not doing the exercises I thought you, are you?"

"She's eating corns while she's jogging," Auntie said.

I ruffled Amia's hair. "Silly.."

[[She's Amia, my only daughter. She's deaf and mute]] Auntie Rebecca told Xela.

Aixela and Amia started chatting using sign language. I don't know what they're talking about.

"Come, let's go inside. I will prepare your favorite food. I'm sure you missed it!" Auntie Rebecca exclaimed.
