Chapter 11- I'm Back!
Alex POV
I’m on my way to school my back pack is so full considering I have brought presents for my friends and I have a small pack and I don't want to change into a bigger one cause I'm hella lazy.
I went to school and we said our hellos, I looked around the room and saw Vanessa looking at me I feel like her gaze is burning my skin. Why is she looking at me like that? She looks like she longs to be with me yet at the same time she looks like she wants to kill me. I do admit I kind of missed her I don’t know why I should be hating her but something deep inside me longs to be with her I know its stupid.
Classes started and the teachers welcomed me back. The bell was heard at every corner of the building indicating it was time for lunch our favorite subject lol. As usual we all went to the table and after eating lunch while chatting I brought out my bag.
“Drake well here I got you your “New Jersey” well actually it’s not a national jersey but I didn’t want to bring you a jersey you can buy online so I brought you back a jersey from my old school. Coach had some laying around so I asked for one and luckily they have your number. 17 right?” I asked handing him a black baseball jersey the one with five buttons.
“Awesome! Thanks this will look great in my collection!” He exclaimed snatching the jersey from my hand.
“Rude -__- “said Roni with her famous poker face.
“Of course I did not forget you. Here are some more jersey for you. 08 for Nick, 14 for Blake 1 for Mike and lastly 10 for Veronica” I said shuffling my bag.
“Seriously you got me a jersey?” Roni asked in disbelief.
“Just kidding I know you might kill me so instead I got you something for your coffee.” I said handling her a not a mug you know the one where you put your coffee and it keeps it hot for as long as it can with a cover it has this transparent plastic or glass and inside was a print of I love New Jersey. I don’t know what it’s called but let’s just say it’s a mug but not a mug because it has no handles its like a thermos of a kind what the hell don't make me explain I don't know how.
“You rock boo I love it!” She said giving me a kiss on the cheek. Making Mike growl. I laughed and Roni smacked his head.
“You get jealous easily seriously its Alex she is like a sister to all of us so shut it.!” She said singing her arms making her accidentally knock my bag off the chair and a round glass fell rolling until it stopped on Veronica’s feet. My heart stopped when she picked it up. It was like a snow globe and instead of a snowman in the middle it’s a black wolf grinning. When I saw it at the mall I thought of Veronica I don’t know why and bought it but obviously I never plan on giving it to her.
I walked towards her.
“Uhm, sorry about that. Can I have it back” I asked
She was looking at it in awe and she looked like she fell in love with it. She looked at it one last time before extending her arms to hand me the ball. I don't knoww what came over me or how I had the courage to say what I said next.
“You know what? You keep it. Let’s call it a truce like a peace offering. Let’s start a new okay?” I said looking at her that was for her but maybe this will be an opportunity for me and make her stop bullying me. I don’t even know what I did to her.
“I’m Alex Lee nice to meet you.” I said extending my arms for a handshake.
“Veronica Knight” She said as she accepted my handshake.
The moment our hands connected I felt this spark I can’t explain ran through me the weirdest thing happened when I heard a soft whisper “MATE” deep inside my head I just ignored the voice. Her hands were so soft and warm I don’t know how long we hand our hands connected or how long we were looking into each other’s eyes but all of it was interrupted by Abigail who broke our hands apart.
“Okay that is enough you can go back to wherever you came from.” She snarled shooing me. That’s when I realized the whole cafeteria was looking at us, I felt myself blush and walked towards our table.
“What the hell was that?!” Roni asked
“It felt like the two of you were undressing each other with your eyes!” Drake hissed.
We all looked at Drake and I was hoping Roni would give him a smack or something but instead she didn’t and looked at me.
“You know what for the first time in my life I would have to agree with Dumbass” she said, I looked at Nick for help but he raised his hands like he was surrendering.
“Don’t look at me you two did have this spark I can’t explain” he said. I sighed and the whole group continued to tease me. I smacked their heads one by one until the stopped teasing me verbally but their eyes can’t hide what they want to say making me groan accepting defeat.
Veronica POV
I was watching Alex hand over jerseys to her group, she looks so happy which in a weird way is also making me happy.
“Van! Seriously are you even listening to me?! I had been talking for a while now.’’ Abigail whined.
“Yeah I’m listening” I said even though I wasn’t really watching Alex is occupying my mind. Just then I felt something hit my feet it looks like a crystal used by fortune tellers. I picked it up and looked at it! It was a snow globe with a wolf in it. It looks amazing the wolf looks exactly like Xandra! It’s so beautiful!
“Uhm, sorry about that. Can I have it back” I heard someone ask I looked up and it was Alex.
I looked at her and the ball in my hand how can I ask if maybe I can have it. Well I thought about it and I can’t just take something like this to her so I handed it back to her.
“You know what? You keep it. Let’s call it a truce like a peace offering. Let’s start a new okay?” to my surprise she said this making me feel speechless. She gave me her million dollar smile before offering a hand shake.
“I’m Alex Lee nice to meet you.” She said
“Veronica Knight” I replied. Xandra was jumping up and down in my head barking and wooing like an idiot when our hands connected.
I felt the urge to mark her right there and then but Abigail interrupted us, making Alex walk away I sighed in dismay of being apart her after not seeing her for a while.
I sat down and looked at the globe one more time before placing it safely in my bag. When I looked up all the people in my table were looking at me questioningly while Abigail was glaring at me.
“What?” I asked
“What the hell was that?!” Abigail demanded
“What?” I asked innocently
“You look like you like her. The moment you saw her you changed I never saw you look at someone the way you look at her! Tell me honestly is she your mate?” She asked desperately
I panicked if I tell her now my pack mates will know and they will know that she is human and they will no longer respect me.
“What are you talking about? Of course not she’s human remember?” I said as calmly as I can. I can hear Xandra growling in anger before she disappeared again.
“Right. I’m sorry I snapped at you babe I just don’t like the way she looks at you. You know I love you right?” She said stroking my hands.
“Yes I know I love you too” I said more like I did it because of habit but the words are empty it has no meaning.
She smiled and kissed me. I looked at Alex’s table while kissing her and I saw Alex looking at me. I felt guilty so I closed my eyes as I kissed Abigail trying to get rid of what I assume was pain in her eyes.
