Violet lay on the floor of her bedroom, lights off, deep in contemplation. It had been over two weeks since they had returned from their first excursion. Kieren had been spot on with the numbers, there was now only seventy students left within the school, that number included the three deaths 'TAG' had caused. Initially only about fifteen had wanted to drop, yet as soon as they returned they were all tasked with cleaning all of the floors of the academy, with a toothbrush. The follow-up command had made some fall over, they would not be fed or attended too until their specific area was spotless. No rest, no medical attention, It had pushed many over the edge.
They had finally been granted two days off, Tuesday and Wednesday they would have no obligations. Which is why Violet lay on the floor, staring at a file. A name was written on a rather dense folder, Victoria Chinz. Violet had perused the file many times over, gleaned all possible information and had even found her exact location. She just had to make her decision.
Victoria Chinz was a renown pathologist and surgeon. Originally from Vietnam she had moved to Russia at the age of four and remained there until she became a top member in regeneration and the intricate works of diseases on cells. She had been recruited by the Russian military and shortly thereafter opened a private clinic which catered to the all rich and powerful. There were many rumors of her association with powerful people within the 'gifted' community, although nothing had ever been proved. Ms. Chinz maintained the staunch position that all she ever did was strive to rid the world of unnecessary deaths. She currently resided in Woodbridge, Connecticut, she had been awfully quiet for the past four years.
Violet leafed open the file, pulled out a picture, and stared at it as if memorizing the face. She had seen this face before, no, she had seen it too often. Violet knew it was a face she would never forget.
She was already dressed for the occasion, it would be a shame to let such an opportune night go to waste. She carefully took the file, a soft light appeared to her right, she stuck her hand through and placed the file 'elsewhere'. The soft dagger reappeared in her hand, Violet looked to the scar on her right hand, a shadow crossing her face. She cut into the scar and scribbled the appropriate insignia into the air. She stepped through and appeared in a small garden.
It was a cold night in Connecticut, early December's usually were. Violet looked around, she scoffed, the woman had really spared no expense. The garden was indoors and perfectly acclimated for the flora found within, the house was of equal regality. Violet stood quietly in a corner listening for human activity, after a few moments she turned a corner and walked through the house as if it was hers. Victoria was in her study, she was reading a memo from several concerned partners, it was unbelievable that the specimen had not been found. "Just what are these fools doing? This will become a calamity if they do not act rapidly. What more do they want from me?"
A soft knock at the door interrupted her rant, she looked up angry, her staff knew better than to interrupt her while she was in her study, this had better be an emergency. The door was ajar, and nobody was there. She frowned, the door had been closed, she always left it closed. A soft rustle behind her, black locks fell on her shoulder, "hmm, that looks very important, I'd also get that sorted swiftly."
The color drained out of Victoria's face, she moved to stand from her chair, tripped and slid on the floor eyes locked on Violet's, fear etched into her face. She clambered to feet, tried to run, and then moved to grab something from a shelf, Violet tripped her with ease and kicked her in the face. "I wouldn't shout, If you do I'll have to kill your mom two doors down and we wouldn't want that now would we?"
"You cannot do this! What do you want?" Despite her fear there was disgust written on Victoria's face. "If you're here for an apology you will not get it, you are the biggest disappointment." Violet connected her foot to Victoria's face for the second time. It shut her up and blood dribbled down her chin.
"I'm nowhere near that sentimental," Violet looked toward the Dr. no expression on her face. " I'm just here for some informati..." Violet was cut off rudely. "You'll never get anything out of me I'd rather..." Another kick to the face, this time tears blossomed in her eyes and she grabbed her face shaking.
Violet looked at her in contempt, "Let me finish, I don't need information from you," she motioned toward the study. "Everything I need is here, all you can do for me is die."
Victoria's eyes widened and before she could retort the black sword was in Violet's hand. She struck it straight through the Dr.'s heart, her foot once more on her face, directly over her mouth, preventing the dying doctor from making a single sound.
Violet retracted the sword, it disappeared, she let the body fall to its side.
Violet set about methodically searching every inch of the study. She took what she needed and as the sun began to rise, concluded that she was finished. Violet picked up a lit candle, "Rosemary pear, disgusting." She tipped the candle to its side, papers lit up quickly and Violet disappeared back into her room at the academy.
"Violet wake up, Violet! VIOLET!! It's noon!!! How can you sleep in on a day off, we are going shopping!"
Alex had not been lying, thirty minutes later Violet found herself in the center of massive shopping center.
She looked down at her outfit and frowned, "What, it's cuuuutteeee." Alex whinnied from her right, "You wouldn't wake up, I had to dress you! Plus, I had no idea you had tattoos, they go great with this outfit." Alex gave her puppy eyes.
"So your first pick was a miniskirt, and it's matching crop top? Because they went with my tattoos? We are at a mall, not a club."
"You look like a hot bitch, let's go." Somewhat more awake Violet followed, after an hour of Alex blowing through money like they didn't wear uniforms Violet put her foot down.
She was hungry and ready to go back, she hadn't even finished her sentence when Alex chimed in ecstatically, "Oh, don't worry, Kieren's on his way to pick us up we're going for sushi with the boys!"
For the second time today Violet looked down at her outfit and sighed. Alex grinned, "Come on, he's here." Taking her by the hand she dragged them out to the entryway. They found him easily, just follow the crowd of love sick girls. He had parked his car and was waiting near a pillar sipping on a drink.
"Kkkkiiilllllll," Alex chanted out. Kieren turned toward them, took one look at Violet, and choked on his drink.
