Violet had broken through the glass, she had pulled a large gold volume out feeling it's pain in her arms. She took a long look around, if she could, she would remove every single book, but there wasn't enough time.
She sighed into the air, the most important ones would have to suffice for now. Violet got to work, an hour and a half later the place was unrecognizable. She had removed many of the books she concluded were vital to the re-education that would need to occur.
She also took books dear to her that should have never fallen behind enemy lines. Violet was transporting them efficiently from an abandoned library to her own, a place not one human but her had yet entered, but a place where soon many would belong. She heard a small groan from near the door, the knockout gas would soon be ineffective. Taking one last look around she moved a few more books before heading out the entrance and back up to the Janitors closet. It had been a while and the muffled thumps on the door made it clear her tour guide was awake. Violet bypassed the door taking a different exit than the one they had previously used, she emerged behind a curtain in the gift shop. Curious she looked around, a cluster of children on a field trip were squawking over customized pens. She made eye contact with a little boy who gazed at her star-struck. Violet smiled before leaving the shop, as she walked out she heard two employees speaking in a disgruntled manner. "He always disappears, thanks to him I have to do three tours. I'm going to gouge his eyes out when we find him." The speaker was a tall thin brunette, she was speaking to an even taller boy, freckled, and in his late teens.
He replied with a laugh, "it would probably be better to cut out his dick, he slinks off to fuck any guest who will allow it. He's probably in that dingy off-limits closet."
Violet shook her head and headed back into town, she made it about three blocks before security started closing off streets demanding that everyone in the vicinity stay.
She watched from afar sipping on a limoon, once finished she entered a public restroom and returned to Colorado.
Back in the private room of the public library she sat in a chair calculating her position. She had four and a half hours before finding a date became impossible. Rising from her chair she decided there was nothing to gain from sitting here, time to grab the bull by the horns. She tugged on a strand of her hair, more like time to get wrecked by the bull.
In the academy Kieren had been working out, the punching bag undeserving of the slaughter it was receiving. He was well aware of the crowd that was monitoring from afar, consisting mainly of girls. They seemed to be plotting the best way to approach him. Kieren noted that not all were from his school, he grimaced, it means the stupid flower school was already here. The clink clink clink of heels on tile came to his ears, he pushed back the dread and annoyance that threatened to break free.
"Kee!!!" A very pretty strawberry blonde girl approached him, dressed as if she was walking the runway.
"I've asked you countless times not to call me that Julie."
She laughed continuing her approach with her hips swaying back and forth provocatively, "always so stiff! Loosen up!" She gave him her million dollar smile, "it's been over a year and half since we've seen each other." She spoke in a manner that screamed 'I always get what I desire'.
Kieren didn't seem impressed, he continued punishing the punching bag.
She continued unperturbed, "You always look so dashing! I'll cut to the chase my darling Kee," she moved forward to touch him gently on the wrist. He evaded the move by landing a vicious uppercut to the bag, "you always do, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He steadied the punching bag with both hands looking over at her. He was being polite and from afar they looked very close. The girls were shaking with rage, "They're too close! Whose this bitch? Why's she acting like their friend"
Julie seemed aware of the turmoil from the door, "Still don't like to be touched huh? Well it doesn't matter, let's be candid. I'm the only woman here worthy of being your date, take me to the ball Kieren." She winked, "and if you want, I can touch the parts you once didn't mind." She left without waiting for answer, she was well aware he had to go with her. Kieren kept his face passive, it would serve nobody to show how displeased he was.
After some time he left smiling 'kindly' at the devastated group by the door. His already frayed nerves were twanged some more as he approached the dorms and saw James dropping Violet off at her door. Violet had touched James shoulder a weird look on her face before waving goodbye. As James left their eyes met. James didn't look away, he nodded slightly a knowing glint in his eyes. Kieren looked down on him, they brushed shoulders and Kieren's gaze motioned for caution. Kieren suddenly wished he was still back in the gym, and James touched his shoulder wincing softly, he sighing inwardly.
Violet, on the other hand, threw herself onto her bed relief coursing through her veins...well another emotion was trying to emerge as well, but she refused to acknowledge it. She had arrived at the gates of the school and immediately surmised that the other school had arrived, too many unknown faces. The gazes turning in her direction had displayed curiosity, amazement, enchantment, and disgust. Clearly these rich kids communicated, she ignored the gazes and kept walking. She noticed a overly muscular student with dark blue eyes start walking to meet her, a sneer on his face. Right before he got to her James called out her name and he shot a warning look towards the man. He backed off and James took up pace with her, "I figured we should wait a few days before you knock someone out." Violet laughed, drawing some admiring gazes, "we can try."
They had continued walking before James spoke his mind, "we are both aware of how improbable and dangerous that would be, so in way of thanking you for all those muffins. And if you promise to bake me more, I shall grant you the honor of being my date." He grinned at Violet, "Go to the dance with me Violet?" Violet had smiled, she looked over gratitude forming on her face, "As many muffins as you want, thanks James." He nodded, "he's an idiot, but I reckon his hands are tied in this matter, not that you would want that kind of heat on your back."
Violet shook her head, "You clearly spent too many days under my room. You sure about this James? You could ask somebody else?"
James shoved his hands into his sweater, a complicated aura emerging, "Nahh, the only person I would want to ask..." he sighed, "never gonna happen, you're doing me a favor as well, trust me."
Violet was surprised by his answer, curiously she looked over, "Well you're hiding this ardent love well, I had no idea." He grinned sadly, "trust me, I have too."
Her eyes deep with compassion she had pressed encouragingly into his arm before walking into her dorm.
She had not noticed Kieren.
