A Major Power Up!

Reo felt dizzy and as if he was walking on air. It was exactly like how one would walk in their dreams.

Confused with no sense of direction or control over their actions.

He wasn't even sure if he was on the mark when he released his first shot.

Thankfully, the Basic Shooting and Basic Handling skill came in handy with his 70% accuracy almost ending the game but coupled with the remaining 30% and his dizziness, it looked like it far outweighed the initial 70% accuracy.

Reo was not in the right state of mind at the moment but thankfully, he had the system.

[Ok, a little to the right. That's it....no! no! no! a little bit to the left now. That's it, now a little bit up. No, that's down!]

In the void, the system was having a headache. It wasn't meant to be used like this.

This was not a basketball or even a coaching system. At this moment, it felt more like the cheating system.

Still, there was nothing that it could do. Reo was recovering but he was still out of it and as such, the system could only guide him using this method.

When Reo finally aligned his shot with the basket, the system finally gave him the go signal.

But when Reo released the shot, the system felt extremely jittery because....Reo did not use enough force!

[Shit! It's not going to make it!]

The system couldn't help but curse out loud. If Reo didn't make this shot, the game was as good as over.

There was no way that Reo could play normally after these free throws.

So, staring at the soaring ball, the system felt it's circuits almost short-circuiting. The same could be said for the crowd as they felt their hearts jump out of their chests by just watching the ball.

Finally, the ball landed on the hoop but....It didn't go in!

Instead, it bounced on it once.

The crowd was on the edge when they saw this.

'Go in! Please go in!', they all thought.

However, the ball bounced once again on the hoop as it stood at a standstill motion while on the rim.

'Just f*cking go in!', the crowd roared in their minds.

Why the f*ck was the ball just sitting on the hoop?! Just go in!

Soon however, they got their wish as the ball slightly tilted forward as it went through the rim.

"Woah!!!",the crowd burst out in cheers when they saw that Reo made it.

Then, Jax roared into the mic as he said the words on everyone's minds.

"He has done it! Reo Fuji takes the game with a phenomenal free throw! Ladies and gentlemen, we have just witnessed the rise of a star!"

The crowd roared even louder when Jax finally spoke all their thoughts.

This was really true! A star had really risen on this very day by completely dominating another star!

As for that said star, Reo was sitting on the floor with his hands over his ears.

He had recovered but these people were still too noisy. His mind had become clearer but his ears were still ringing from all the noise that came from the crowd.

'If you'll really care about this star then please be quiet! This star needs some peace and quiet!', Reo cursed in his mind.

Then, just as he was in the middle of his curse, a sudden notification popped up in front of him.

[Small-scale tournament completed! Rewards are being calculated!]

[Randomizing contents...]

[Ding! First time tournament completion detected!]

[All rewards will be upgraded!]

Reo just stared at the screen in shock, his mind now on full alert.

'Was this what the system meant by a bonus?', Reo thought as he looked back to the screen.

[Ding! You have obtained a Regular Grade Physique Multiplier(+5)]

[Ding! You have obtained a Low Grade Stamina Multiplier(+3)]

[Ding! You have obtained a Low Grade Agility Multiplier(+3)]

[Ding! You have obtained a Low Grade Strength Multiplier{+3)]

Reo's mouth was wide open that even a fly could fly in and out anytime it wanted just like it was taking a vacation.

This rewards....They were too much!

This was almost equivalent like how Luffy would get a massive power upgrade after the Timeskip in One Piece except Reo's powerup was completely miniscule compared to Luffy.

However....The rewards were not done yet!

[Ding! You have obtained 150 EXP for the Common Grade Skill(Basic Handling)!]

[Ding! You're Common Grade Skill(Basic Handling) has reached Level 4!]

[Ding! You have obtained 50 EXP for the Common Grade Skill(Basic Rebounds)!]

[Ding! You're Common Grade Skill(Basic Rebounds) has reached Level 2!]

'What the f*ck!',Reo nearly cursed out loud.

The number of words on the screen was just too much for him to take in. Also, what was with those rewards?!

Wasn't this too much for just winning a small Street Ball Rumble.

The system however, couldn't accept Reo's so called 'modesty'.

[Damned brat! Even after winning such a hard fought victory, you are still complaining about the rewards!]

[If that's the case, then I shouldn't give you the new skills that you acquired!]

When Reo heard about obtaining new skills, he was instantly reenergized.

'Give me system! I want!', Reo said in his most cutest childish voice as to coax the system into giving him that new skill.

The system was just speechless when it saw Reo trying to act cute.

'Does this boy seriously not have any mental problems?', the system wondered.

Still, it kept it's word and presented Reo with the new skill.

[Ding! You have obtained a Rare Grade Skill(Juggernaut)!]

When Reo saw the name of the skill, his eyes glittered in excitement.

It was another Rare Grade Skill and on top of that, it had a cool name to boot! This was a sure win for Reo.

[Brat! You should consume all those stats multipliers in your inventory instead of waiting for it to auto-consume as usual!]

When the system mentioned that to Reo, Reo finally snapped back out of his daydream and ordered the system to consume all his stats multipliers in his inventory.

Stats Multipliers was like how it's name stated, they could be used to increase Reo's stats permanently whenever they were consumed. However, due to Reo's laziness, he had left it all to the system's auto-consume feature instead of directly consuming the Stats Multiplier.

The auto-consume function only worked 24 hours after a new stats multiplier was deposited into his inventory but Reo never really cared about the time taken for the auto-consume as he always spent most of his time practicing.

As such, once Reo ordered the system to consume his remaining Stats Multipliers, he checked his current stats on the system's interface.

Reo's eyes popped wide up as his mouth hung loose.

This....Wasn't this too much! This was simply a God-like powerup!

At the same time, Reo couldn't help but check his newly obtained Rare Grade Skill.

[Rare Grade Skill (Juggernaut)] [Level 1(02/30 EXP)]

[Gives the user a passive increase of 1 Stamina Stats! This allows the user to bulldoze their way through the court at any game without ever running out of steam!]

[No Requirements Needed!]

When Reo saw the skill's description, his expression waned.

'This....This is it?', Reo couldn't help but think dejectedly. He felt like he had been scammed.

When the system heard Reo's thoughts, it immediately scolded Reo like how a mother would scold their child for being unappreciative.

[Stinky fool! How dare you not appreciate a Rare Grade Skill?!]

[Do you even know how many people would kill for even a single Rare Grade Skill in this world?!]

'But....But it's so lame", Reo couldn't help answering back with a pout on his face.

[Ahh! You stinky brat! If you don't want it, then fine!]

[But let me tell you, these type of passive skills are incredibly rare and they can be used to surpass the maximum stat limit for your age! But too bad since you just lost it!]

Reo's face changed when he heard the system's words.

A passive skill that could surpass the system's skill limitations! This meant that when Reo reached his max stat limit before 15,this skill could still help him surpass that limit!

This meant that this skill was truly a dime in a dozen!

'Give me system! I want', Reo proceeded to ask in his cute child-like voice.

However, the system was buying none of Reo's bullshit as it snorted in disdain and deactivated itself, thoroughly ignoring Reo.

'System?! System wait! I take back what I said! You are the handsomest and most generous system in the world so please have mercy on me!', Reo begged in despair.

However, what Reo didn't know was that the system couldn't take away those skills even if it wanted to. That was just the way that it was programmed.

As for when Reo discovered that the skill was still there, the system would simply state that it was being merciful by not removing the skill.

Thinking about this, the system couldn't help snickering to itself inside the void. If Reo could be shameless then so could this mighty system!

Outside, Mikasa finally came over to help Reo stand up after seeing him sit down on the ground for so long. On the way, she couldn't help but give Mibuchi the stink eye.

From now on, whenever she saw Mibuchi trying to talk to her, she would always scream for help. She didn't want such a dirty scumbag talking to her.

However, Mibuchi didn't register her glare as he was on his knees, looking devoid of life.

His reputation and all that fame that he had built up over this past one year, it all went down the drain and for what? A technical foul which he couldn't even win the game with?

In the end, Mibuchi regretted what he did but too bad for him, there was no cure for regret.

In the crowd, the old man looked happy as he saw Reo's supported figure on the court. From his gut feeling, he could tell that Reo would surely be famous in the future.

But how famous could he get? That would all depend on Reo.

With that, the old man followed the dispersing crowd and left together with his grandson.

When the boy saw his grandfather smiling to himself, he couldn't help but ask the old man.

"Grandpa, are you thinking of recruiting him?"

The old man gave only a small smile in response as he replied.

"He is still a fledgling. I don't know if he will only get a bit better from here on out or maybe even make a drastic improvement"

"Besides, I'm only here for my vacation. If I ever get a chance to visit Ebisu again, it will only be next year. If we are fated to meet at that time, then it would all depend on how good he can become"

The boy didn't say anything as he knew that Reo had sparked his grandpa's interest in him.

But still, he didn't like Reo at all! Why? It's because he was too close to Mikasa.

Even now, he felt like throwing something at Reo when he recalled their blatant flirting in public. However, he was not so much of a scumbag to actually beat Reo up just because he was upset.

Instead, he would prefer to have a fair match with Reo for who could get Mikasa's attention!

Thinking about this, the young boy and his grandpa left the basketball court and reentered into the city.

Reo didn't know it but at this moment, his path for the future was already set in stone.

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Reo-kun, are you sure you're ok?", Mikasa asked worriedly as they neared Reo's home.

"I'm fine", Reo said reassuringly as he glanced at Mikasa.

On his cheek was a white bandage that covered a good portion of his cheek.

After a few minutes, his cheek had become swollen and bruised after the initial contact but luckily, there were medical personnel on standby and while they were not professionals, they succeeded in reducing the swelling and covered up the bruise.

Still, it hurt like hell! Reo was almost in tears throughout the entire process!

He never had to endure stuff like this in his previous world. Looks like the better his physique got, the more pain that he would have to endure.

After all, basketball was a very intense physical sport.

Suddenly, Reo got a cheeky idea as he eyed Mikasa from the corner of his eye as he clutched his cheek in a grieving manner.

"You know, Mikasa. It actually hurts but maybe you can help me feel better", as Reo said this, he was struggling not to laugh.

When Mikasa heard this, she became even more worried as she became determined to help Reo.

"What do I do?"

Reo smiled when he heard this.

"Simple. This is a great cure proclaimed by our ancestors from long ago that has been passed from generation to generation", Reo exaggerated.

"To simply make a wound stop hurting, you need to....kiss it!", Reo said seriously as he pointed to his cheek.

Mikasa immediately tensed up with her face becoming as red as a tomato.

K-Kiss it?! The very thought made Mikasa have steam coming out of her head as her hairs stood on end.

She couldn't believe that Reo would tell her such a solution! He was such pervert for doing so!

"Reo, you big pervert!", Mikasa shouted as she ran away to the direction of Reo's house like a young lady who was running away from a pervert.

They were also still on the streets so many people heard Mikasa's shout as they all glanced at Reo disapprovingly.

Older generations looked at Reo with disapproving eyes as they thought of how Japan's children were becoming worse and worse. Parents using Reo as an example of not how to behave once they grew up while children glared at Reo for bullying such a pretty girl.

Reo was speechless at this. How could a simple joke make him a public enemy so quickly?!

No....It must be that girl's mouth! Whatever came out of that girl's mouth was just heartbreaking to hear and always brought about the worst situation whenever it was unleashed in public.

Still, he didn't hesitate as he ran after Mikasa. While they were close to his house, he didn't want her to wander around alone at this time.

Even her parents didn't trust her to wander alone and he would simply be a fool for even attempting to do so.

Finally, after some time, he finally caught up to Mikasa and convinced her to follow him home.

Along the way, Mikasa would occasionally steal glances at Reo with a red face and watched out for any sudden movements like she was worried that Reo might suddenly jump on her.

Many thoughts were racing through her head as she wondered about what Reo said.

'K-K-Kiss his cheek?! Reo-kun is just a big pervert!', Mikasa thought but at the same time, she couldn't help wondering if a kiss on the cheek would really make him feel better?

As such, she involuntarily looked at his cheek as some thoughts made their way into her head.

'D-D-Does he like me?', Mikasa couldn't help wondering but after a while, she soon shook her head.

'Even if he does, he should court me like how a gentlemen should! Hmph! This stinky Reo is just messing with me!', Mikasa thought angrily after thinking about it for a while.

Meanwhile, Reo didn't notice that Mikasa was giving him the stink eye as he was immersed in his own thoughts as well.

He had 5000 yen to spare now so what should he do with it?

However, he decided to save it in the end and only allocate about 500 yen for food. After all, there was another Street Ball Rumble next week for his category and if all goes well, he would be able to earn another 5000 yen.

Also, there was another thing on his mind. That showdown that was scheduled with Nishimura was supposed to be in another 2 weeks but seeing how good he was, was there really a need to delay it?

So, with that in mind, Reo decided that he would challenge Nishimura tomorrow instead.
