A Missed Encounter

When Alliana went inside the conference room, her secretary's waterproof makeup was already a bit messy.

Secretary Jane had been sweating and wiped her face many times. She took a deep breath and crossed her fingers behind her.

"P-president, Mr. Tan already left. I have done everything I can to make him stay, but he left urgently and said that he had to keep his schedule on track. He apparently has another important appointment coming up," Secretary Jane reported while sweating bullets.

Alliana slowed down her steps and looked at the empty conference room.

Her eyes were a bit dazed.

Mr. Tan actually strode off? Did he not know that if she let a man wait, especially for business matters, she would be indebted to him with a date? Was Mr. Tan not interested in that?

Besides, her project was really good, which was why both of them, leaders of their own companies, set an appointment to personally discuss further negotiation conditions.

Alliana took a seat.

In a disbelieving tone, she mused, "Does that Mr. Tan swing the other way? How could he just leave without getting any benefits from me?"

Secretary Jane avoided her eyes.

That Mr. Tan did not look that way. His masculinity was overwhelming, as well as his indifference. She was more convinced that he was an ascetic and abstinent iceberg!

He was really the most handsome man she had seen as of now. Even that Mac Gregory whom her boss used to date fell below that Mr. Tan.

Mr. Tan possessed an overpowering charisma of a true leader, abstinent yet exuded masculine pheromones. It attracted people of all gender!

"Did you assure him I'm coming?"

Alliana was still slightly baffled at the fact that she just missed her client. She was used to dealing with enthusiastic men with vigorous needs. Perhaps, he had never seen her yet?

"I did, President. I told him that you are already in the building. And…. Mr. Tan said that if you did not come within five minutes, he would leave. And he did... after five minutes was up..." Secretary Jane trailed off after seeing Assistant Hu shake his head profusely.

'Eh? What? What did he mean by shaking his head?'

But she had already said the words that Assistant Hu did not want her to say.

Alliana's frown deepened.

"Is that so? Why didn't you call me earlier when he gave the ultimatum of five minutes?"

Oops.

Secretary Jane looked at Assistant Hu who was now biting his whitened lips. She had realized what she had done. She gave him an apologetic look.

Secretary Jane's expressive eyes that spoke of a thousand words: I'm sorry! I didn't know! I ended up spilling the beans...

But inwardly what Jane was actually thinking: I have to say the truth no matter what, or else I'll have to carry this broken pot. Sorry, I can only pass it to you! May your soul rest in peace.

Assistant Hu just nodded weakly. His eyes were dull.

The message in Assistant Hu's eyes who appeared unknowing of what Secretary Jane was really thinking: The damage is already done, there's no point blaming you, so don't worry about it anymore.

But inwardly what Hu was really thinking: You cunning woman... Do you think I did not know that you deliberately did it so the blame will fall on me?!

Secretary Jane 'received' the 'approval' of the sacrificial lamb, so she 'reluctantly' offered the lamb to the bloodthirsty woman.

"I have sent the information to Assistant Hu earlier. Assistant Hu must have forgotten."

Assistant Hu: !!!!

Inner Hu: Why do you have to say it that way! The witch will curse me to death!

Assistant Hu silently glared at Secretary Jane while the latter just pretended that she did not see his glares.

Secretary Jane: 'I don't know anything. I am just an honest secretary.'

As expected, Alliana got angry and turned her eyes to Assistant Hu.

"You did not inform me? That's a project worth billions. Mr. Tan's Group is a great partner that we had to get much effort to board with! Did you enjoy seeing women drenched by coffee more than winning us money?"

Assistant Hu just looked down and accepted the scolding obediently. Even if he tried to stop her in the middle of her 'little show' earlier, he knew that he would still be reprimanded no matter what.

"That is… sick, but understandable," Alliana added the latter reasonably. She also enjoyed the sorry state of those blabbermouths earlier.
