Chapter 2

I couldn't bare it, the terrified look on this child's face boiled my blood under my skin. These simple minded, superstious fools taking innocent lives in the name of their so called "all powerful" god. The god who is supposed to protect the innocent and punish the evil. There's no sign of such a thing in this place. I could feel energy buzzing at my finger tips, begging to be released. One motion of my hand, a few uttered words and I could save her.

But what if someone were to notice? I'm no use to these girls dead. The man next to me watches them place the noose over her blonde head with a deep furrowed brow and his arms crossed tightly over his chest.

"This is asinine." He hissed between gritted teeth. "Pure filth this town is, i'm taking you to your father today and no later. You are not safe here."  I glanced at him suspicously, questioning his motives. How could he know what I was? Who is he to my father, and who is my father?

"Now just a minute." Mr. Adams huffed. "Catalina has lived here her whole natural born life. She's just fine." I placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and turned my full attention to the stranger as they kicked the barrel from underneath her feet. May her soul rest peacefully.

"All do respect sir, I've never met or even heard a thing about my father up until today. How am I to trust you or him? Where do you even plan on taking me?"  I said, raising an eyebrow. He glanced around suspiciously at the crowd surrounding us.

"We must find a private place to discuss this, these town folk don't seem to be the most understanding of...unique abilities." He grabbed me by my arm and started walking quickly, leaving Mr. Adams behind.

"Hey!" He shouted, getting further and further away. "Come back here!" I started to dig my heels into the ground. He gave me an annoyed glance and in one swift motion I was on his shoulder. I hissed insults in Latin under my breathe and my blood began to boil. As we lost sight of the crowd and began walking into the forest. I felt my skin began to warm and I smiled deviously. He started to shift my body uncomfortably on his shoulder until, finally, he cried out in pain. He dropped me into a puddle, the water hissing and turning to steam when my skin made contact. Anger flared in his eyes and he grabbed me by the collar of my dress.

"Do not make me bind you. Your father is paying me to deliver you and that I will." Could he affect my powers? Did he have abilities?

"My work is not done here, I need to help these girl-"

"You can not do that DEAD. You are a fool to live in Salem. With no coven. No fellow sorcerers. Nothing but blood thirsty Christians knocking on ya door. And you stand by, helpless, as these girls die because there is nothing you can do alone. You will reveal yourself and end your powerful bloodline." He talked as he threw me on his shoulder again and walked further into the woods. Was he really planning on carrying me like this all the way to Maryland?

"So this is the plan, eh? Kidnapping? With threat of a binding spell?"

"Can you think of anotha way to capture an unwilling witch?" He chuckled. I laughed loudly and slapped his back.

"You know I will get away. I have avoided being captured for many years. " He snorted and his shoulders shook with silent laughter.

"Yes, you avoided mindless blood thirsty simpletons with the sense and power of a dog's ass. It's nothing but chance when they discover a true witch, as you've grown older your beauty has become too great to ignore and puts in you in danger." He stated it matter of factly, like he did not intend to compliment or flatter me by saying this. "You should really hide it better."

"You sound like them." I scoffed.

"You're taunting them Catalina. You can not be yourself. You must pretend or you must hide." We came to a stop and he placed me inside of a carriage.
