Luxx Room 435
Behind me was my agent; I felt his solid chest, similar to my door frame, and gladly, it was a fast touch. I can't let my heart get another moment beating quickly. I had no control over it; I had a right to remain calm even if my mind did not entirely agree. In nervousness, I bit my tongue intentionally. I struggled to walk properly from the taxi to here. We reached my condominium, and I prevented myself from groaning in pain; being heard by my agent would make him put me to rest again. And I could not afford to close my eyes and let time go—my family has a lot on their sleeves--I have no doubt they are still awake now, trying to figure out where I am.
"Well, you have passed the trials anyway," I said, trying to let him know. But he had another reason to make me feel like I was drenched in cold water and becoming steel.
"You wanted to see it in purpose Miss. I did not know you were good at acting too."
I flicked my tongue behind my teeth as I thought of it. It is true; yes, I did it on purpose. But it is just for work purposes.
My agent seemed to be waiting for my response, but I just blinked my eyes hoping to escape the hot seat that he put me in. The silence between us becomes disturbingly bland, and we know that the sound of our breaths is vice-versa. I felt my jaw tighten when I know what topic to discuss now. Relax, Shreya, remember, he is your agent, and you are his boss, his partner at work.
"So, you are unaware that your life will be in great danger now that you work for me?" I said deliberately. He did not look frightened as I observed him. He seems to be ready to break things anyway.
"Oh, here," And by that thought, I grabbed the Glock 43 hidden in my lower back; fortunately, my lace panty is tight. It holds well in objects like handguns.
"Miss, do not forget I am an agent. I am prepared for this. It is part of my job." He said without looking at me. Guess he thinks the Glock is infested.
"Still, fun time is over, agent. Click the button on the average living area table." I heaved out air from my lungs. A knee injury can affect my lifestyle. I do not like to be weak.
He listened to my order. He is not the type of man that will argue with me when he knows I am his boss, "What is this box, Miss?"
I eased the tension in my body as I laid my back on my sofa, allowing my other body parts to sink in. "Photo album with my brothers."
He chuckled; I heard him chuckle, but he directly stopped. I know he is holding it back to show some respect. But even for me, it is laughable. "Just laugh. My relationship with them is a comedy anyway."
"I see. Why would you hide this photo album, Miss?"
"Because it is not an ordinary album, agent." I throw him a small pin, and he looks at me. I raised one eyebrow; it was a hint that I wanted him to guess what he would do next with it. 'He must be thinking about the hole where the pin fits perfectly.'
He smiled at me and nodded before inserting the pin in the middle of the album that has snow rose. My gaze did not leave the sight of my agent being quick; he proved me wrong about him. I assumed it would take more time for him to figure it out.
"Is personal question reasonable now? An exception to the rules that are listed down in the contract?" For a moment, he hesitated to look at me. When I thought he feared me, he began to speak up again.
"Never mind, Miss. I already understand."
I gave him a slight nod as I lowered my head to check the envelopes under the table. It was not a smooth move due to my knee, yet, I got the envelope with no problem.
For a little, while I exchange glances with my agent, we are noticeably communicating, but not a great give out. Because both of us reluctantly and slowly nodded in agreement to the silence, no one else was here with us.
"You can rest here, Agent. We have a lot of things to do in the next few days." I spoke.
"Which is?" My agent asked, and then I paused to frown at him.
"Beginning with my brother's birthday and my parents' anniversary."
"For a good outcome, you must disguise yourself, Miss." I listened to my agent as he smiled at me with his vicious plan. "Besides that, you are Owen's only daughter. It would be impossible if you do not know the map of the mansion."
"You are hoping that I would accomplish this by engaging your plan? Is this what you want to hear from me?"
"Miss, back at the restaurant and the hospital, I believe you are capable of doing it. The way you move even if you won't tell me that you are in pain. You know what you are doing, just like a rookie agent." Hearing the words from my agent is somewhat giving me a different effect. Not overwhelming, but a boost of confidence.
"Let's not forget there is a disadvantage," I reminded him while I placed my right hand on the upper knee to gently massage it.
"Knowing the advantage and disadvantages can make us move surely in a straight way. But if we miss one point in between then, it is goodbye for you and me."
My agent nodded thoughtfully, then he spoke with a low voice.
"It does matter. However, I am ready. An Agent does not stay in one point."
"Then it is another agreement for the party idea." I reached out a hand for my agent to shake. A sign that what we will do at the party has been sealed.
