Chapter 11: Why Marry Him If I Don't Like Him

Ji Huaiyu curled his lips and glanced at Huo Tingzhou, then turned his head to Yun Kai, his eyes filled with a hint of interest as he asked, "Little sister of the Yun Family, it seems you really like your husband?"

Yun Kai frowned; hearing this, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being mocked.

Had they found out she didn't have a husband, or that she was married to a dead man, or were they laughing at her for being delusional?

Now that she had started this lie, she had to keep it up.

She relaxed her expression and responded indifferently, "…If I didn't like him, why would I have married him."

Ji Huaiyu couldn't hold back and let out a laugh.

Yun Kai looked at Ji Huaiyu expressionlessly, what was so funny? What was there to laugh about?

And he wasn't just laughing at her but at… Yun Kai followed Ji Huaiyu's gaze and glanced subtly at the silent and mysteriously looming Seventh Master by his side.

This Seventh Master was especially tall and straight, clad in a simple white shirt, yet he exuded an air of nobility and was naturally endowed with a high and mighty aura, exuding an overwhelming sense of pressure.

Last night, Liu Xixi had intentionally caused her harm, pushing her, who was drunk, towards a producer, but she had no idea what happened in between.

In her past life, after she had passed out drunk, she woke up in a hotel and had never seen this Seventh Master.

In this life, however, she had groggily woken up in the middle, right at the moment she returned to her previous life, and so she had seen this Seventh Master as if in a dreamlike illusion.

How had they ended up together last night?

Feeling Yun Kai's gaze on him, Huo Tingzhou slightly turned his head, his eyes meeting hers squarely, neither cold nor warm. His thin lips lightly pursed, he exuded a breathtaking aloofness.

Yun Kai instinctively averted her gaze.

But Huo Tingzhou kept watching her, and Yun Kai felt increasingly uncomfortable under his scrutiny, as if being judged piercingly, her entire being tinged with a discomfort of being seen through.

Her nerves inexplicably tensed up, and she subconsciously gripped the handle of her suitcase… when suddenly, the Seventh Master took a step towards her!

Yun Kai hesitated for a moment, then instinctively stepped back.

The man moved forward two steps, and Yun Kai retreated two steps as well.

The elevator was cramped, and after two or three steps, Yun Kai had no more room to back away. Her back pressed against the elevator wall, the man took another step forward, his strong, unique pheromone scent assaulting her with an aggressive, invasive essence.

Yun Kai's scalp tingled and her heart raced as though it would leap out of her throat.

Speak if there's something to say; what is he trying to do…

Dispose of the witness.

But surely not in an elevator.

There are cameras!

After a brief, eerie second, Huo Tingzhou extended his hand towards Yun Kai…

Yun Kai clenched her fist, struggling to steady her racing heart, and looked up at him defiantly, her voice as natural as she could muster, warningly, "What are you doing?"

Huo Tingzhou's hand paused mid-air, hovering, and the tall man looked at Yun Kai, his deep, peculiar gaze unsettling, he continued forward, pressing the elevator button, then stepped back.

Yun Kai was extremely embarrassed: "...…"

In the quiet elevator, it seemed as if the sound effect of a black crow flying overhead was built in, leaving a trail of ellipses...… Laughter filled the elevator again, the enchanting and flirty laugh of Ji Huaiyu.

Yun Kai forced herself to remain composed, as if nothing was amiss.

As soon as the elevator reached her floor, she immediately dragged her suitcase out.

The elevator doors did not close right away, Ji Huaiyu leant lazily against the wall, watching Yun Kai with amusement as he teased, "Little sister of the Yun Family, do we really look like bad guys to you?"

Yun Kai frowned: "..."

You don't just look like bad guys, you are bad guys!
