The sun was beating down on us as it continued to laugh at our plight. There were no clouds to hang above our heads nor a tree to shade ourselves under. The only shelter was the caps on our heads barely keeping us from overheating.
Avina wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead. She gave a big huff before admiring the efforts they all placed.
The building barely had its outer walls, but continuous efforts made it appear somewhat like a school. Bricks were piled high on one side, while on the other side was a concrete mixer rolling. People gathered in small groups scattered around, all laughing and talking like the sun couldn't bring them down.
Her lips lifted up as she felt content. She had arrived here 3 days ago, but there was never once a thought to abandon the event. Despite it being tiresome and her bones aching every hour or so, Avina felt good. A tingling sensation in her heart told her she was doing good.
