Epilogue

Today was the day of nationals. Somehow you persuaded Kita in coming, apologising to the group immediately after you showed up that morning... However, the drive to Tokyo wasn't too long, yet it felt interminable as ever to you.

Before you all loaded on the bus, Kita and Coach Kurosu called everyone in early just for a quick meeting regarding the Spring Interhigh Tournament. Since you agreed with Kita to come back as manager, you had to read over the designated timetable when you got home from the hospital in hopes of gaining some knowledge of how long you were going to be there.

It seemed as though Inarizaki was up against Karasuno in the third round, so in other words, you were going to spend all day at the Tokyo gymnasiums.

Fantastic.

"Everything alright, Y/N?"

You and the rest of the team had finally jumped off the bus, leaving no one else behind apart from you and Kita. A slight humming sound left your lips, assuring the 5'9" male that you were more than okay.

Which you were.

After the encounter you had with the captain, it felt like you had control of your life again. And you enjoyed that feeling―you enjoyed being ahead of it too. Aside from that, the only uneasiness you felt was the crowds hovered outside the gyms.

To think that you were an extremely sociable person shit did get uncomfortable after taking a second glance at the buildings ahead of you. Yet, Kita noticed the evident wrinkles stretched across your forehead, discreetly intertwining his hand with yours. He let out a soft chuckle, sighing directly after.

You blushed from his actions, trying to act like you didn't notice him tugging you closer towards him. Suna nudged Osamu next to him, "What's going on with Y/N and the captain? Are they dating now or some shit?" He grumbled, turning his attention in front of him.

Osamu raised a brow, glancing around to find a happy, giggly Y/N. He turned around afterwards, "Is that jealousy I hear?" He cooed towards the male, Suna growling in response. To be honest, Osamu enjoyed seeing you this way. Some part of him felt like he brought the two of you together, which sort of set him at ease.

However, he still felt that emptiness in his own soul, not having the one other person he cared about so deeply.

Rintarou Suna. It was him. It had always been him; however, it seemed as though he was ultimately stuck in the friendzone, Suna still not sure of his own sexuality―Osamu had to respect that, though, not pushing boundaries.

And he didn't.

Osamu's tone quietened down, "I think they are dating, though." He strolled off with Suna and the rest of the team.

"Hey, Shin?" Kita hummed, turning his attention to you again, "Uhh... How long are we going to be here for?" You scratched the back of your nape in apprehension. The silver-haired boy let out an amused hum for a few seconds before responding back, "I'm not quite sure on exact times. Depends if we win the third round or not... Why? Don't you like crowds, N/N?"

The boy grinned towards you, you grumbling back quietly, shooting him a pernicious scowl, "No." You stated firmly, "We haven't made it inside yet, and I can tell it's already going to be boring." You huffed babyishly.

Kita ripped a laugh, turning his head to the front, gripping your palm tighter unconsciously, "You'll also be helping Coach Kurosu with switching players and whatnot... I better hear you cheering, at least." He jested towards you as you raised a brow of slight perplexity.

You felt genuinely content right now; getting stuff off both of your chests brought the two of you together. After the intimacy you shared the other night with the boy, you couldn't come to hate him.

In fact, you loved him.

It was contradictory in a way―how he hurt you, how stubborn he was―however, you knew everything he said was sincere, and that's all you cared about. You knew he was an honest guy who had set values; you knew that from the start, but you brushed them off unknowingly.

You couldn't really excuse how you treated him, despite being in a state of denial―even hurt, for that matter. All you were thinking right now was the future you were going to have―thinking how fucking lucky you were to experience it with someone like Kita.

Shinsuke Kita.

After all, even if he knew what happened to your father, it would never change or bring him back. So right now, you wanted to live in the moment; make the best of it before it's all gone. It would be strange to think that the both of you were still very young―not even in college yet; however, the two of you were unconsciously dating at this point, and ironically enough, you couldn't see a future without him.

You stood on your tiptoes for a brief moment, planting a kiss on his cheek, "Thank you for saving me. I-" Sighing heavily, you glanced down at the ground, "I still would have been that insensitive bitch if it weren't for you." You smiled afterwards, thinking of the petty decision you made because of your best friend, Akari.

You met orbs with him again, "But I'm glad I took on the challenge Akari threw at me." Clutching his arm, you leaned your head against his bicep.

"Because it made me realise how much I wanted to be loved by someone like you."
