"Distorted spirits, ushers third eye. Do you believe all this"
Asked Anya as her and Rebecca exited the building.
"This all seems kinda ludicrous"
"Well if it is why didn't you start laughing at him like you did before"
Asked Rebecca with a smirk plastered on her face.
"I thought it would be rude I mean he was obviously taking it serious and it seemed so did you"
Rebecca held her head down pulling the hood on top of her head tighter.
"I won't lie it all sounds far fetched.
[Yea it does] Anya thought.
"But lets say I've experienced somethings that make it less likely for me to scoff at any potential answers"
There it was again the second time Rebecca said she was looking for answers [but answers to what] Anya wondered.
"So"
Rebecca broke her concentration.
"You gonna come back tomorrow or is that it for you"
"I don't know like he said this is a hard pill to swallow, but its not like I have anything else to do"
Rebecca wanted to ask Anya more questions just like Anya wanted to do the same but neither wanted to intrude so they remained silent and called there individual rides.
Sprawled out on her bed she texted I'm home to her mom tearing her eyes from her phone and bearing her face deeper into her pillow Anya's thoughts drifted to the old woman Bernadette was her name. He said that she had died, he said that she was the chill that Anya had felt and he said that she was the one that destroyed the apartment. All of it, all of it was hard to.. no impossible to believe or was it. Anya immediately shot up grabbed her phone and did her own research.
With just a few minutes she was able to confirm that the article peters had shown them was not a fake it was real but something she didn't catch on the first view was the date the article was dated May 3 2013, this struck accord with Anya because they had moved out before the month of May. A stroke of luck or a coincidence is what Anya would have thought but the San Francisco press may have confirmed that she was no lucky person but a potential psychic or usher or what ever he was talking about.
The new article she was read was dated August 8 2016 Kendre Phillips was found dead underneath the Golden Gate Bridge it read that it was presumed suicide because Kendre was known for being a recluse with untreated mental issues the article said that it took two days for the body to be found. It continued on from there but no mentions of any environmental damage, [so he didn't become distorted] Anya thought [so he passed on his own or was he helped]. She thought she would laugh or that she should be scoffing but it was more then just a joke or a hoax it was real it had to be.[people die and we help there spirits and if they spas out we destroy them to protect the living]
"Counselors and guardians"
She said aloud to herself, [is this what I'm gonna be, is it what I want to be] Anya had to pondered this question I mean who wouldn't a usher for dead spirits wasn't on any career day or job listings and until recently Anya never knew things like this existed and now peters was talking about opening their third eye. If this was all one hundred percent real then the danger was real if this was truly no lie then would this be the right choice for her as she stressed herself out her phone pinged a text message from her mom read and me too as a muffled sound of a door opening could be heard.
Anya's mother was home earlier then usual and today she came bearing gifts take out from Chipotle, as the two ate in silence Anya's mind was focused on all she had learned and all she would have to decide....
"Mom"
Anya said quietly.
"Yes yaya"
"What made you decide to be a engineer"
Her mother lifted her head from her bowl looking curiously at her daughter
"Um what made you ask this question"
"I just wanted to know what made you think that becoming a engineer was the right fit for you"
"Well"
She said taking a swig of her Pepsi then whipping her lips.
"I've always been a handy person taking things apart trying to put them back together I spent my childhood taking apart all the stuff in your grandparents home"
She lightly smiled.
"Toasters, blenders, microwaves I even did are tv once, your grandpa was so angry but proud after he found out my love taking thing apart he started to put me to work part in his automotive plant"
"How old were you"
"I think 9 or 10 your gramps has always been a opportunist but thanks to him I found my true love on working on automobiles and decided to become a automotive engineer and the rest was history, so why'd you want to know"
"Well its because of school"
"Has something gone wrong"
"No"
Anya bowed her head.
"The instructor said that I possess some promise"
"Oh"
She scrunched her face up.
"Then what seems to be the problem"
"Well he said that sometimes it could be dangerous you know... being a heating and cooling technician. So what he said kinda rattled me now I'm on the fence"
Anya slumped down into her seat with her eyes closed, and her mother could see it on her face and with very little words she could see how much this meant to her and how much it bothered her.
"Did you know your grandmother wanted to be a opera singer"
She asked this question so quickly and suddenly, Anya's face was hit with the slight hint of annoyance her eyes slowly opened looking at her mom a "what" escaped her lips and her mom said again.
"Your grandmother she wanted to be become a opera singer she told me before she passed away"
At this Anya began to sit up she never knew her grandma Mable she died before she was even born, she had heard many things about her but never this.
"She did"
Anya said.
"Yes my mom was always good at singing every now and then I'd catch her singing, while she was driving or cleaning or cooking, she had a strong and beautiful voice"
She took another swig from her Pepsi.
"My dad was proud but my mother was the one who pushed him to fostering my interest, I never knew why she did it but while she was on her death bed she told me, she said ever since she was a kid she loved to sing but when she did her family would tell her to hush up all the racket. She had a dream but no one she knew wanted to hep her or encourage that dream, my mother wanted this badly but she feared failure being judged so the dream she had was never pursued and it went that way till the day she died"
Both there faces were solemn and both were sad then she continued.
"And that's why she wanted to support my goals and dreams she didn't want me to end up like her living a life of regret wishing what could of been"
She took one final long swig from her drink finishing it off after she placed the bottle down she spoke on.
"I said all of this to say if you got the potential to be something and that something can make you happy and give you purpose fulfillment then you should pursue it. Don't live a life of regret besides I think y'all make a great technician"
And even though Anya's mother didn't know what she was truly doing the advice had helped it made her smile, she never had talent like her mother and grandmother not until now and if she turned her back on what could be then she would live her life with regrets just like her mother said. so at the table her mind was set, it was set as she helped clean up while she brushed her teeth and while she went to sleep and early that next morning she was there outside the building before Peters and Rebecca because now her mind was set, she was set on becoming a usher.
