VICTOR

Victor sat slouched in his desk. All he could hear was the keys on computers being pushed and a few people talking. He looked over at Sabastian as he was passing a note to Angie. Of course... Angelina looked at Sabastian and smiled, then she read it. It was probably a 'love' letter. Victor sat up suddenly, Angelina froze in place, a look of horror.

This is getting interesting, Victor thought, now intrigued.

Sabastian turned away from Angie and then continued reading his book. Angelina looked shocked and moved slowly so she faced the front of the room. Victor looked at Sabastian's face, stone cold.

What the heck? What was that note about? Why did Angie look scared and why did Sabastian look... dead? He thought, studying Sabastian.

Maybe a threat? Annie predicted.

Sabastian isn't like that, Victor said to Annie in his thoughts.

Or maybe you don't know him... She sighed, trailing off. It's a possibility, right?

I-I guess. He stuttered. I doubt that's it though.

He slouched in his chair again. Victor noticed Angie looking at him, her eyes full of worry. Victor immediately sat up again, leaning towards her. She mouthed something. Vic made out the first word, He. She then mouthed the word, knows. He knows? What is that supposed to mean? What did Sabastian know? She turned herself back where she was originally. Victor noticed a crease form in Angie's forehead.

What do you think she meant about, he knows? What could he possibly know? Vic asked Annie.

She went silent, thinking, then filled in the blank, He knows about the guardians. But not in a good way.

Victor gulped, It can't be that bad, can it?

She went silent.

Victor inhaled sharply and sunk back into his chair. The rest of the class went by like a sloth. His anxiety increased. What did Sabastian know? As he sat there, completely oblivious to Angelina's growing anxiety, he chewed on the eraser of his slim number two pencil. He constantly asked himself, When would I find out? He looked over at Sabastian.

He is still still faced... What the crap...

The young boy stared at his friend with curiosity. How on earth did he even find out a secret of theirs? He thought endlessly about the different secrets he had, but the thing that puzzled him most was Angelina had said "our." What was a secret that they both shared? Victor sighed, it was no use! He was just increasing his worry, but he wanted to find out so bad!

Maybe he does know about Elysia... Victor Angelose thought, his head growing tired of the lavish amounts of letters that were filling his puny head. What would they do if he did know? Leave it be? Deny it? Confess...?

The bell rang with a startling chime, making him jump. He clutched his heart in fear, but then seeing there was nothing to be scared about. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He slowly got up, Angelina and Sabastian already exiting the room. He called her name but he quickly realized she would not hear him, for she was stuck in her own world. He stepped outside of the school, the harsh sun beating against his defined face, making him squint his stunning eyes. He looked ahead of him, scanning the crowd looking for her familiar hair. When he saw her Victor ran to her, eager to know more about what she told him. She looked at him then sighed.

"Sabastian said he knows our secret. Do you really think he knows about... you know?"

"I don't know. Annie said it's a possibility." Victor answered, trying to catch his breath. Man was it hot!

"Juniper said maybe he thinks we are, um, secretly dating." Angelina told him, laughing a little. Victor raised his eyebrows and then chuckled, "In his dreams."

Angie glared at him, trying to hide the rising pinkness in her cheeks. "Whatever." She giggled.

Vic laughed along with her, smiling as he watched her worried frown turn to a beautiful smile. He stared at her for a hot moment as they made their way to the cafeteria. He almost wanted to say, "Man you are beautiful," but he thought best of it.

Victor opened the door for Angie and then watched her walk on in. He followed close behind her. As they went through the line he felt a rise of awkwardness between them. He looked over at her as they walked along, gazing into her beautiful worried green/ blue eyes. He noticed a scar near her right eye, an inch in length. He pondered about it, wondering what happened. He stared at her face longer, realizing she had plastered mascara on her eyelashes and punch colored lip gloss. Angelina didn't need makeup, if only she knew that. When he approached the food and beverages he grabbed a juice box, an apple, and a cereal bar. Victor made his way across the crowded lunchroom to his friend Marick who sat in his usual spot by the door and sat down. Marick greeted with a smile but then continued stuffing his mouth with a cereal bar. Victor shook his head, silently laughing, and opened his cereal bar and took a big bite, grinding it down with his not so white teeth. He stared off into the distance, thinking about Angelina and their conversation. She had definitely been blushing, or at least it looked as if. He left the table a minute later and was about to throw away his full apple, half of a juicebox, and his cereal bar wrapper, but Angelina was near the garbage can with her friends and interrupted him.

"You know you're wasting that apple, and that juice." She told him, then her friends giggled.

He gave her a strange look then continued throwing away his stuff. Although he couldn't help but blush. She looked at him in a disappointed way then shrugged him off. Victor walked past the group of girls, wishing Angie's friend wouldn't torment him with their giggles. Was Angelina still worried about what she thinks Sabastian knows? What he probably knew anyways... As he walked to the school, not enjoying the warm morning the slightest, someone ran into him and knocked both of them down. A sudden feeling of anger roze over him.

"I'm so sorry! Here let me help you!" She cried. Her red glasses were on the ground, and so were all of her books. He had never seen this girl in the school.

"Whatever. I don't need your help." He shouted, picking himself up and brushing the loose dirt off his leather jacket.

"You're mad and anxious, about something going on between you, a girl, and another boy." She replied, still on the ground. She found her glasses and put them on and picked up her books.

He stared at her in disbelief. Did he hear her correctly? He felt weird vibes coming from her. "What?"

"It's a... guess." She replied, staring into his eyes, in deep concentration, answering the question he nearly asked.

"Your... " He thought best of his comment, thinking it was mean.

"Weird. I get that a lot." She said standing up gracefully.

"How did you know I was thinking that!"

"...Everyone says that too." She said rubbing her neck nervously.

I notice some weird vibes from that girl. That isn't normal... Annie said slowly. Step away slowly.

Victor shook his head, "Are you a new student?"

"Yep! My name's Gwen!" Gwen cried with a big smile, glad to be asked.

"Victor." He told her.

"You're French. Just noticed that." She noticed, looking around the campus, distracted.

"No duh. How do you not notice?"

"Why are you being so mean? You're so sweet on the inside."

"You're creeping me out." Victor groaned, stepping around her.

"You... are different." She whispered.

Victor looked back and raised an eyebrow, "What makes you think that."

Victor walked off and didn't look back. He didn't intend to either. The five minute bell rang as he dashed into the school and then to his orange locker. The boy grabbed his books and such and then bolted upstairs, eager to get to class before the music played. When he reached his classroom he was greeted by a desk. He ran into the edge. His hip stung with pain. He clutched his eyes closed then just shrugged it off, limping to his seat in the back. The bell rang and his teacher went through her list of kids to find out who was there and who wasn't. Then she started handing out a worksheet.

"Today in science, we are learning about atoms. Firstly, you need to understand what an atom is. Anyone know?"

Victor raised his hand effortlessly, hoping he would get picked so he could show off the bit of smartness he did own. She called on him. The smart ones groaned, disappointed that they didn't get to answer and that a 'dumb' kid got to.

"An atom is a particle of matter that uniquely defines a chemical element. An atom consists of a central nucleus that is usually surrounded by one or more electrons. Each electron is negatively charged. The nucleus is positively charged, and contains one or more relatively heavy particles known as protons and neutrons."

The entire class had their jaws open, surprised. Victor looked over at the smart kids, laughing at their facial expressions, knowing he proved them wrong.

"Couldn't have said it better myself." She said putting her hands on her hips. "Now do the worksheet, kids. Make every answer count! This is going towards your grades. I hope you remember last week's lesson because this worksheet is based off of it! Turn it into the basket when you're done please."

Victor put his name on the worksheet then started it. It was pretty easy, at least that's what he thought. He looked around and saw kids puzzling over the worksheet with confused looks on their faces. He pitied them greatly. Victor finished in less than ten minutes and was the first person to hand it in. After he turned it in he pulled out a notebook and started to sketch. His sketch turned out to be a pretty, frizzy haired girl standing in a school hallway with books in her arms and a shy but confident look.

Suddenly, Victor felt a tap on his shoulder. It was that girl, Gwen. She had a bright and wowed look on her face as she looked at the drawing. Had she been sitting behind him this whole time?

"That's amazing, Victor! Who is it of?" She asked, as if already knowing the answer.

"Whatever. It's no one." He informed her.

She looked surprised at that statement, "Are you sure it isn't... what's her name? Oh! Angelina?"

"No! Never!" He resisted, feeling his cheeks grow hot with embarrassment.

"Sure... Whatever you say." She said with a wink, the wink making him greatly uncomfortable.

"Shut up." He grumbled, turning away from her.

He sketched the rest of the drawings background, ignoring the chattering of students. He laid back against his chair, examining the finished piece. Victor turned the page and drew something else. This time fictional, not of someone real. He started sketching a girl he had envisioned once, the girl dressed up in a faded yellow dress that slightly touched the ground. She also had black shoes and had stunning hair that reached her shoulders. Her hair was also in a half up half down hairdo with tight, perfect curls that made her look like royalty.

Everyone finished the papers in about thirty minutes, leaving a good chunk of time for them to learn more things. This time they were taught of electrons in more depth. The school bell rang loudly, which startled him greatly, and many children piled out into the hallway and down the stairs. Victor got up and gathered his schoolwork and walked out the door. He told the teacher to have a good day, which certainly made her day by the looks of it. The French boy walked down the stairs and to his locker, trying to avoid the crowds of middle schoolers in the hallway. He put in his combo, and opened it. A yellow folded up paper slipped out and landed on his lap. It was some kind of poster for a club or something. He looked at it for a second then opened it.

"An art club?" Victor whispered to himself. He didn't think there were even any clubs in this school, just electives.

Oh Vic! An art club! Join it! Annie cried happily.

No thanks.

Victor felt as if Annie just rolled her eyes. He put his science book away and grabbed his French book. He slammed his locker for no reason and then walked down the stairs to the basement of the school. Since he had been at Lion Bank Middle School, the basement had always seemed creepy. Sometimes, when he walked down the stairs and into the basement, he could feel a cold breeze that made the place eerier than ever. No one was in the basement at the moment, making it feel even scarier. As he walked down the stairs he looked down, and when he went around the corner he looked up suddenly. Gwen was right there with a big, blinding smile. Victor jumped back and gave a small scream.

"What the heck man!" He cried, trying to catch his breath.

"What? Oh, sorry, did I scare you?" She apologized with a surprised look, as if she was proud to have scared him.

"Yes, you very much did scare me!" He growled, looking up at her. Why was she continuing to ruin his day?!

Her polka dotted skirt suddenly shifted in a breeze, as did her red sweater and polka dotted vest. Victor stood up so his back was straighter. She gave him a confused look then spun around and walked for what looked like Mr. Dookinshire's, the janitor, office. Gwen peeped her head around to look at Victor a split second, her dark black hair moving swiftly with her head, then closed the door. He then heard her say something which was followed by booming laughter. Victor stood a second then walked quickly to his French class.

What is wrong with Gwen for pete's sake! That girl gives me the creeps!
