Accidental Rescue?

Running out of the forest, David modified his transformation a bit, taking off the wings, making the tail smaller, and making the horns a bit smaller so it doesn't look so demonic.

By the time he finally ran out of the forest, it was already noon. Looking around, there was a river, and with his enhanced eyesight, there were traces of civilization!

'Hmm... guess I need to ration things now... I do need to exchange these corpses for money.' David thought.

following the flowing river, David was looking deeper into his own body, as he felt something was different after he evolved.

He stopped to take a drink from the river, taking off his bat fur clothes, he wanted to make sure of one more thing.

"I remember that some monsters were able to make clothes out of their own scales or something like that... since I'm in a new world, this could give me some reliable protection..." he muttered, circulating mana around him.

He felt... lighter... as he also felt that something was being expelled from him. Looking down he saw that he was now wearing a white shirt and a thin tuxedo coat, just without the tail, and for the pants, he wore baggy black pants coupled with slick white shoes with no laces.

'Mn... kind of modern... meh, I'll change it depending on what clothes other people wear.' David shrugged and kept moving forward.

Because the clothes were part of his own body, he felt more comfortable with it, especially with the fact that it would be more durable than most clothes he would even have later on in this life.

As he was traveling, he saw from the sides that there were camps spread out... the problem was that for some reason the mana around it didn't seem right, as if it was... evil mana?

'So I can even detect stuff like evil mana or something like that now? Meh, might as well test it on some potential humans...' David smiled and turned to see as his curiosity got the best of him.

He saw a large camp nearby and hid in the tall grass, looking at the dots on his {Mini-Map}.

Revealing only his head, he looked up and saw multiple green dots as well, seemingly all in one place.

"Slaves? Hostages? Seems like it'll be difficult then..." he muttered, knowing that he'll have to kill everyone stealthily, or else he might be pressured by a hostage's life.

He moved around the camp, seeing that there were several men, wearing different types of armor, though one thing was in common, they were all men.

'Most likely sex slaves or kidnapped girls then...' David's eyes cooled down even further, making everyone shiver a bit, looking around alert as if there was a beast staring at its prey.

Marking all of the red dots, David attentively followed their mana signatures and a small darker shadow appeared on their own shadow.

'3... 2... 1... Now!' David poured a small portion of his mana into the {Earth Spikes}, instantly stabbing the mercenaries or whatever they were down to up, piercing their organs.

Seeing the red dots disappear one by one until there were only grey dots and green dots left on the {Mini-Map}, David came out and went to their storage room.

He opened the door slowly, somewhat hesitant as he didn't want to know what they did, but he soldiered through and opened it and the sight surprised him.

Chained up slaves, dead slaves, women, a whole bunch of people which had their light in their eyes taken away.

David didn't puke, but merely surprised.

'I'm definitely not human anymore, I would've passed out as this scene, absolutely horrible pieces of shit called human beings...' David cursed the dead mercenaries, enlightening him at how cruel it could be to see the actual thing in front of him instead of from a novel.

The people that were alive slowly raised their heads, looking at him, before looking back down, as if they accepted their fates.

"Do any of you have a family?" David suddenly asked.

No response.

"Anyone that will miss you?"

No response.

"Do you wish to be freed of this cruel life you've lived?"

They looked up, and he saw and felt their emotions. They were pleading with him to end them, as they did not want to live anymore. He nodded and fulfilled their wishes.

He drew his claws and skillfully decapitated the rest of the slaves, and buried them, wishing that they could rest in peace.

By the times he looted the entire camp cremated the mercenaries and buried the slave's bodies, it was already nighttime.

He looked at the new items in his inventory, armor, bows, daggers, short swords, some large bronze, and silver coins as well.

Lighting up the camp, he sighed.

"Looks like I got myself a free starter pack, I guess that could somewhat make up for the lack of quests... I wonder what the kingdoms are like..." David closed the inventory and continued to practice his magic.

Because it was quite late, the system popped up again, showing his gains for the day.
