Classes Begin!

The chaotic first day was finally over…

We woke up early next day and set off for our first class. Wang was walking with me, and Jake was a few footsteps behind us.

We were all heading to the same class; however, things had been uncomfortable with Jake since the dining incident. He hadn't had the guts to approach us and talk to us after that.

Like this, we were almost about to reach our first class.

"Hmm… My sixth sense says that we're going to have a hot teacher teach us today."

"Bahaha! Our first class is Beast physiology, and some old geezer is definitely going to teach us that… Your sixth sense is really stupid, Soren!"

Wang pointed at me and laughed, making me grit my teeth. "You bet?!"

"Sure, I'll bet!"

While we continued to have our discussions and laugh, Jake from behind would occasionally make the effort to join in the conversation.

Every time he would steel himself to say something, he would remember yesterday's incident and stare at his toes with remorse.

From ahead, I took note of this oddity but decisively did nothing.

I knew that him sticking closer to someone like Wang would only lead him in trouble.

We might have made an effort to help him out, but Jake had made his decision yesterday. He just really didn't need to regret his harsh but practical decision so much.

We entered the lecture hall in the next moment. It was in a spacious hall with a pitched floor that housed a little more than two hundred students.

I looked towards the corners at the top to find some comfortable seating.

That was when I spotted Sylvia sitting alone at the top and, without delay, went over to her.

Both Wang and I grabbed a seat next to Sylvia who did not have a change in expression. I chuckled to myself seeing that both Wang and Sylvia were at least not vocal about us sitting together.

Before we could begin a conversation, I witnessed a familiar person coming in from the gate.

"Hey, Mika… Come sit with us!"

I stood up and waved my hand to Mika who had just entered the class.

A little shocked by the sudden shout towards her, she stood still for a moment before taking a glance at the source of the sound. Then, she noticed my face and immediately took strides towards me.

Both Wang and Sylvia focused their intense gazes on her, making Mika lower her head a little.

"Everyone, this is Mika…"

I began introducing everyone in the group to Mika. Wang assessed the fact that Mika was extremely beautiful but seemed to have unintentionally or intentionally covered the display on her watch.

He barely saw the outline of the letter 'D' and didn't think too much after that.

Sylvia, on the other hand, took note of the same information but had narrowed her eyes at Mika. She looked like she was trying to peer through Mika's existence.

Since it was clear Sylvia was making Mika uncomfortable, I leaned in with my face to block her gaze.

"I know Mika's beautiful, but don't be jealous! My heart only beats for you!"

Unknown to me, Mika visibly winced at my words. Meanwhile, Sylvia glared at me as she yelled, "I don't care who your heart beats for, pervert! I just think she looked very familiar for a second… Guess, I was wrong."

Sylvia then crossed her arms and looked away from us, unwilling to explain more.

I turned to Mika who was now sporting a splotchy expression. This somewhat made me worried, since the threat from her roommates was still very present in my mind.

"Let me know if your roommates returned yet. Not only will I beat them up for you, I will even beat the principal of the academy if you ask."

I flexed my biceps with a grin on my face.

"Soren, are you high?" Wang laughed to himself while Sylvia rolled her eyes.

Only Mika was nodding at me with a scarlet glow. Her mood seemed better.

Step-Step-

The sound of loud footsteps resounded in the class at that moment. A hot lady with long black hair walked in the class. She was dressed professionally in a belted, black dress and high heels.

She immediately grabbed a remote kept on the desk and started the projection on the screen.

"Welcome to Beast Physiology 101; I am your teacher Suzanne Marshall and we're now going to begin..."

The teacher went on and on about the course. Soon many of us grabbed a piece of pen and notebook and began to pay attention in her class.

While Beast Physiology was a compulsory class for combat division and an easy one to ace, one still had to know the contents to clear the exam.

A few minutes passed into the class, yet I was already beginning to space out.

Honestly, learning about the Terra-Muscle Bull species and how the microorganisms in its 8 stomachs function wasn't as interesting as I'd thought.

"God, I'm going to take a nap… Take some notes for me Wang!"

Wang shook his head as he said, "I don't need notes, since I already know everything in this class. You'll have to be retarded to come from a noble family and not know this, since we have already been taught such basics over and over again."

At Wang's words, I couldn't help but sneak a glance at Sylvia.

The girl was struggling to note down everything the teacher was saying and would 'stealthily' look over my notebook to copy my notes. Wasn't she a noble too?

'Sigh… Let's just pay attention!' Just when I was to give up, I heard a whisper next to my ear.

"Soren, I could take notes for you if you want…"

It was Mika who was fiddling with the pen in her hand. While it surprised me that she had herself taken zero notes in her own notebook, I was somewhat happy to just take a nap. It seemed that I had watched too much MeTube videos before going to bed last night.

After handing my notebook to Mika with a thankful expression, I dozed off completely.

**

As soon as Soren's notebook was taken a seat away, Sylvia chewed on her lip as she struggled to cope up with the teacher's speed.

After about a minute, she gave up with a pronounced sigh.

'Damn, I'll just study from the textbook later!'

Giving up made her mind free, and she began to ponder about Mika whose identity was bothering her. Sylvia kept thinking that the girl was somewhat familiar.

She would occasion turn her head to observe Mika who was carefully writing notes.

Eventually, Mika wasn't able to ignore this and asked, "W-What is it?"

Sylvia's curiosity was getting the better of her. Her eyes were laid on the wristwatch that was partially covered by Mika.

If she thought Mika was who she was, how could she be only a D-rank.

"I just want to confirm something." Sylvia said, making eye contact with her.

Swoosh-

Using her extremely fast S-rank reaction speed, Sylvia moved her hand and pulled on Mika's wrist.

After successfully having grabbed it, the display on the wristwatch was clearly revealed. Despite witnessing a clear 'D' rank, Sylvia's eyes blinked rapidly.

A shocking four-star combat potential was displayed on the wristwatch.

How was it that that a D-ranker had such a high combat potential? Even if a D-ranker worked hard their entire life, it would still be extremely rare for them to achieve such strength.

In the next instant, Mika gently removed Sylvia's hand from her wrist and gave her a beautiful smile. For some reason though, Sylvia found the smile extremely chilling and even the nearby Wang developed sweat on his forehead.

"Ah, this is just a glitch in my watch. You two don't need to worry about it." Mika said, her voice calm and soothing.

'Yeah, right?' Both Wang and Sylvia thought with a tight-lipped smile.

Right after, Mika returned to taking notes in Soren's book.

Even though Sylvia felt embarrassed from having felt fear, she snorted and then said, "I don't care what you do if it doesn't affect me!"

With this declaration, this corner of the hall had once again quieted down.
