Jiang's past and future
|2 days later|
Jiang Wei is lying in the hospital, cuffed to the bed, with chakra sealing tags littering his bed and body.
"Hah. At least I can get some peace and quiet this way." He sighs peacefully, looking out of the window in his room, seeing the sun shining down on Konoha, some of the destruction from the attempted invasion visible from his room.
'Looks like they were having some trouble over there too.' Jiang thinks before the door to his room opens and team 10, minus their sensei enter, Ino carrying a few flowers, Choji a food basket with various chips and Shikamaru looks to be freshly woken from a nap.
"Hey, I heard we could visit you today, so I gathered the troupes and came." Ino greets him cheerfully as always.
"They really don't like you huh?" Shikamaru snickers, seeing him chained up by his limbs, another chain going over his chest, wrapping around the bed with every 5 cm being a sealing tag.
"Well what can you do? I have bad luck when traveling and even worse when it comes to romance." Jiang tells him in a mixture of jokefulness and bitterness.
"At least you got treated. I heard they almost let you bleed out in the entrance." Choji says, stuffing his face with chips.
"Guess so." Jiang sighs, looking out of the window, at the clouds passing by.
"Hey, I'd trade in a minute with you. Relaxing in a bed, looking at clouds that's like my dream vacation." Shikamaru says.
"So, go life your dream. Today's nice weather." Jiang says.
"If you had her as a teammate you'd get why that's impossible for me." Shikamaru groans, pointing at Ino, who then takes him in a chokehold, hissing "what did you just say?"
"So, what are you going to do once you're free to walk around again?" Choji asks.
"I don't know. I wanted to stay in Konoha for a while and learn from you, but I doubt that's happening without a Hokage." Jiang says, groaning.
"Hmm, so you heard." Shikamaru says.
"No, but it doesn't take much to figure it out. I've seen the jutsu he was in before. And if he survived, there wouldn't bee a problem with me walking freely. I explained my intentions for coming here to him." Jiang says.
"I heard my father is going to handle your case. He'll probably look through you memories while you were here." Ino says.
"As long as it stays with my time in Konoha and even my time in my original country it's fine." Jiang says.
"Why's that?" Ino asks.
"I don't have any secrets to keep, my knowledge of Kumo however isn't mine to share." Jiang tells them.
"I understand." She says.
"If you want, you can also train on me. As long as you pomise not to mess around in there." Jiang offers, nodding upwards.
"I'll think about it. But thank you for putting your trust in me." She says.
"If it weren't for you I'd be dead by now." He says, giving her a grateful grin.
"Hey, visiting time is over." An Anbu says, standing in the doorway.
"Thanks for the visit and the flowers, the snacks you can enjoy yourself Choji, not like I have a hand free here." Jiang says, wiggling his chained wrist to show them.
Once the group left Ino asks the Anbu standing guard, "does he really need to be chained up like that?"
"He is a dangerous individual with unknown origin. He could be an ally of Orochimaru." The Anbu says.
"But didn't he protect that examiner lady from him?" Ino counters but gets no reply and leaves with a scoff.
"Don't bother asking to come visit again. He's under solitary confinement until he's cleared by T&I." The Anbu tells them.
"You're going to get your dad to take you with him aren't you?" Shikamaru asks sighing when he sees her determined expression.
"Yes. He needs someone to look out for him and he doesn't have anyone. Wouldn't you want someone you could trust if you were in his shoes?" Ino asks.
"I guess. Just be careful. I saw firsthand what he's capable of." Shikamaru tells her, leaving with Choji while Ino goes to Konoha's torture and interrogation department, where she convinces her father to take her with him when looking into Jiang.
Another 2 days later Jiang is still lying as Ino last saw him, tiredly looking at the ceiling, light from lamps shining all around him.
"You look horrible." Ino says laughing lightly, seeing his bloodshot eyes and slight circle around them.
"Well, you are a thing of beauty as always. Though I have to say I preferred the long hair." Jiang tells her with a smirk.
"I know right. But ai couldn't let Sakura win like that." Ino says, decidedly, makning him smile slightly.
"Uhh, we're here to interrogate him, not strike up a conversation." Ino's father says, holding his head with a grin at his daughters' approach to the situation.
"Ino, you know the technique, so let's do this." Inoichi says.
"Will I be aware of what's going on?" Jiang asks.
"Yes. We'll enter your mindscape and look into your memories, you will be there as well, but don't think you csn trick me. I will know if something is wrong." Inoichi says.
"It's fine. I'd just like to make sure you don't go looking through my knowledge of Kumo." Jiang tells the man.
"OK." Inoichi says, storing away the information for later and uses his jutsu to enter the teens mind with Ino.
"Whoa." Ino says, standing in a library with various books in the shelves, a blood drenched Jiang in green clothing greeting them.
"Uhh, did something go wrong dad?" Ino asks concerned, pointing at Jaing's clothing.
"No, this is his mind. Looks like you feel like you have blood on your hands. Mind if we start with that memory?" Inoichi asks.
"No, but we may have to walk a while, I have no idea how to navigate this." Jiang says, looking at a few books closer.
"They are stored time based. Think of the year and will yourself there." Inoichi says. Jiang does as instructed and moments later they are standing in front of a portion of shelves which are broken and have gashes all over them looking very worn out.
"Well that looks familiar." Jiang chuckles, closing his eyes and thinks of his last battle for the Shu empire, a brown and red book shaking, before flying into his hand.
"Now what?" Jiang asks, presenting the book to Inoichi, Ino still looking at his bloody clothes worried.
"This." Inoichi says, tapping the book to Jiang's forehead, changing the surroundings drastically until they are standing in the middle of a battlefield, a younger Jiang riding a horse, surrounded by dead and fighting soldiers all around him, with him looking at an middle aged man getting killed.
Shouting his name Jiang rides forth, abandoning his squad, coming to a stop at the corpse of his mentor and seemingly getting his by lightning, his chakra awakening completely for the first time. The next 10 minutes of the memory is Jiang tearing through his enemies in a blind rage, before being the only person remaining in a field of corpse, seeing many of his dead soldiers, whose general he was lying in the distance. He looks down at himself, his hands shaking before walking away in tears.
When the three persons are out of the memory Ino is breathing heavily, this being the first time she has seen such a battlefield and having felt all of Jiang's sorrow and rage.
"Ino, you need to shut out his emotions. With some training you'll be able to see any sort of memory and only pick up the information." Inoichi says.
"Sorry Ino, I guess that memory was a bit much." Jiang apologizes, hugging he girl, who grabs onto him while her father looks at the scene in silence.
"Come on, let me show you to my memories of Konoha now." Jiang says and teleported them to the most recent books.
"This is the first one I guess. Jiang says, showing them a book with red color.
When he taps the book to his head however they are standing at the gates of Kumo, with a dark skinned girl, maybe 3-4 years older than Jiang 2 tall dark skinned bulky man, one dark skinned white haired teen, and teo more girls, one also dark skinned with red hair and one with enormous boobs and a cold expression on her face.
"Thanks for all you taught me. B-sensei, A-sensei." Jiang says bowing to the bulky men of the group.
"Just promise the next time we meet you'll have buffed up and won't go flying through town." A laughs, his Raikage hat almost falling from his head at the laughter.
"Take care Omoi, Samui,Karui." He tells the teens his age before turning to the white-haired girl.
"Mabui, won't you come with me? It doesn't have to be long, or we could try a long-distance relationship." Jiang says hopeful, his hand caressing the back of hers.
"I'm sorry, but I can't. My village needs me and I'm not prepared for a long distance relationship." She apologizes, givimg him an uneasy smile while pulling his hand off hers.
"But I... OK, very well. I guess this is goodbye. And B, if you ever need a new lariat partner give me a shout, just don't rap it." Jiang says, putting on a strong face before summoning a horse sized tiger and jumping onto it, riding away, tears flowing down his cheeks while he's doing so.
"Guess the color doesn't represent the village?" Jiang asks when he, Ino and Inoichi are back in his mindscape.
"No, from my analysis the red ones are painful memories for you, blue probably normal and yellow and green probably good ones." Inoichi says, picking up a few books, feeling over them to get an impression.
"I see." Jiang says, while Ino remains silent, feeling bad for him and his heartbreak in Kumo.
For the next hours they are looking through all his memories, many sped up when he was simply training and such and they finish looking through his memory, Ino and her father leaving his mind, waking up back in their bodies with only two hours having passed in the real world.
"Whoa. Time moves different in a mindscape huh?" Jiang asks.
"Yes." Inoichi says stoically.
"Thank you for letting me train on you. And I'm sorry for what happened" Ino says, hugging him as much as she can with him chained up, having only watched his second heartbreak when Temari left.
"It's fine. I just hope I don't make you feel awkard now." Jiang says.
"Well the start was rough, but I think it'll be fine." Ino says, remembering the thought in hi s latest memory of her visiting being that he enjoys her company and is jealous of her teammates, since they can be around herself all the time.
"So, can I go now?" Jiang ask rattling his chains.
"I have to report my findings first. The decision to release you doesn't lie by me." Inoichi says, giving him a guilty look.
"I think I understand. See you around and Ino in case we don't get to see each other for a while, thank you for the flowers." He says, giving the blonde girl a smile, while she and her father leave the room.
"You like that boy?" Inoichi asks his daughter.
"Not like that, not yet." She says with a happy grin, one her father rarely sees on his little girl 'I'm sorry Ino, but I'm sure the council will want to look into his Kumo knowledge while we have the opportunity.' Inoichi thinks sadly.
"But you have to say, how he fought Gaara was really cool." Ino tells her father.
"It was impressive." He agrees, walking through the hospital corridors before a loud explosion rings out, shaking the hospital.
The two quickly run to the source, seeing Jiang's bed being empty, while three Anbu's are lying knocked out on the floor.
'Can't risk you looking into Kumo's secrets, sorry for the commotion. This should pay for the damage. P.S. Sorry for leaving without a proper goodbye Ino.' A note left on the bed says, a small pouch with money next to it.
"Dad?" Ino says upset, looking at her father, who has a smirk on his face.
"He understood." Inoichi says, sighing relieved.
"What?" Ino asks confused and upset.
"I'm sure he'll be back sooner or later, once we have a new Hokage." Inoichi tells his daughter, taking the note and money, leaving the money at the reception and goes to report to the council.
After escaping from the hospital and Konoha Jiang travels across fire nation and heads to Otogakure, looking for clues about Orochimaru, still intending to find a cure for the curse mark.
He doesn't have much success however, having found only one hideout from the man, where all documents he found are written in code.
"Hmm." He humms, looking at a scroll he is confident has information on the curse mark.
"What is it?" The bear sized cougar he's riding on asks, looking back to his summoner.
"Nothing Kai, just trying to find out what's written here." He sighs, showing the feline the scroll.
"Beats me, but before I forget. Our great leader Neko wants you to come to our realm when you have time." The cougar says.
"Why? The first time I came he and the others weren't too happy about it." Jiang asks curiously, putting away his scroll.
"Asking the wrong Cougar here, I'm only an elemental-less summon and not even high up in the food chain." Kai says.
"Hmm, fine when you dispel inform them I'll drop by in a few days." Jiang says.
Suddenly the two see a castle, standing on a platform collapse.
"Get me over there. Something in my gut tells me that we've found who I'm looking for." Jiang says with the Cougar speeding up, racing to the platform.
"How did you find out where he is anyways? Last time I traveled with you, you had no leads." Kai asks.
"Let's put it like this. I found someone he also screwed over." Jiang says.
A few minutes later the two arrive ontop of the collapsed castle, seeing a sickly looking Orochimaru and Kabuto standing across from a blonde bosomy woman and a black haired woman in kimono, the latter of which looks beyond pissed, while the blonde also seems upset, though better hidden, but her punching a wall to rubble showed the anger burning inside.
"Thanks, you can go now. Looks like I've found my target." Jiang says, hopping off the cougar, covered in a cloak of lightning chakra.
"Finally got you." Jiang says, suddenly appearing within the group, grabbing Orochimaru by his face and slamming him into the ground, dragging him along due to his speed, creating a 10 meter long trench.
"Nah, not this time." Jiang says, stomping on the man's head, still buried in the dirt, stopping him from getting up.
"Get off him. You! What are you doing here?" Kabuto asks, getting out his kunai and recognizes Jiang.
"Shut up Kabuto you don't interest me. Even though your bounty is tempting." Jiang tells him, grabbing his trident and piercing Orochimaru's arm, who doesn't react to it.
"My, looks like when you fought with the Hokage, he left you a goodbye gift." Jiang says, seeing the stone like arms if the Sannin.
"Kabuto, get me out of here. Tsunade, you have a week, but I expect a positive answer." Orochimaru says, slithering out of his body, leaving an empty husk behind with Kabuto grabbing the man, shunshining away.
"Damn. Do you know where he's hiding?" Jiang asks the two women, walking over to them, seeing the bosomy blonde shiver in fear.
"Are you OK miss?" Jiang asks her in a gentler voice.
"She's fine. Who are you and what do you want?" Shizune asks, on guard about the man who just slammed Orochimaru into the ground.
"My name is Jiang Wei. I've been looking for that snaky bastard for a month." He introduces himself, looking at Tsunade wondrously, until his eyes follow hers, seeing a glob of blood splattered on the ground.
"Hmm. So who are you?" He asks, covering the blood by kicking some dirt on top of it.
"My name is Shizune. And this is Lady Tsunade." The black-haired woman says.
"Huh? Tsunade? As in snake bastards teammate? Are you also using some body jumping technique?" Jiang asks, gripping onto his weapon to prepare for a fight.
"No. It's more like an advanced Genjutsu." Tsunade says, catching her breath, looking at the brunette teen in front of her with wonder, him reminding her of her grandfather from the way he carries himself.
"Are you in leagues with Orochimaru, because if so, I advise you to come clean now." Jiang says, raising his weapon, lightning chakra covering his body once more, along with his weapon crackling dangerously.
"It's rude to accuse a lady." Tsunade says pissed and throws a punch at him, which he deflects with his lightning cloak, sending her punch into the wall behind him, shattering it into hundreds of pieces.
"I like strong women, but I don't care for Orochimaru's accomplices." Jiang says, grinning nervously, getting in an offensive stance.
"Stop it you two. We are not in league with Orochimaru." Shizune says, getting in between the two powerhouses staring one another down.
"Why was he here then?" Jiang questions, stabbing his weapon in the ground, the cloak around him slowly receding gradually.
"He asked for Tsunade's help in saving his arms. And offered..." Shizune explains.
"Shizune!" Tsunade says sharply, a haunted look on her face.
"Mhh, sorry for the trouble then." Jiang says, offering his hand to them, which Shizune shakes relieved. Tsunade doing the same, but keeping a strong, bone crushing grip on his hand.
"So, what do you want Orochimaru for?" Tsunade asks, looking at him expectantly, having the upper hand now.
"Information about that mark of his. It's causing some problems in Konoha and is pissing me off." Jiang explains, smirking along with a wince at her actions.
"I see." Tsunade says, letting go of his hand, while her gives off a green glow, repairing his half mangled hand back into normal shape.
"A medic nin, huh?" Jiang says, forming a fist testing three times.
"I was once, now I'm just an old lady with a fable for gambling and drinking." Tsunade says exhausted.
"Allow me to invite you for a drink then." Jiang says, securing his weapon in a holster in his back.
"Maybe I had the wrong impression of you." Tsunade agrees happily, patting his back, almost sending him flying accidentally.
"Say, do you know the Raikage by chance? You remind me of him." Jiang asks chuckling, while the three plus one pig start their track back to town.
"Raikage? I thought you are a Konoha nin." Shizune asks surprised, looking him over for a village sign, but finds none.
"You can save yourself the trouble. I'm not from the elemental nations, though I have to admit I like it here better than where I'm from." Jiang says.
"Why's that?" Shizune asks.
"Well there is only so many corpses of comrades pointlessly sacrificed a person can stand." He says tiredly.
"But who am I telling this to? Hemophobia? Haven't seen it much, but I can imagine as medic nin you had some traumatic experiences." Jiang says, with Tsunade remaining silent, a tear flowing down her cheek.
"Sorry that was insensitive of me." He apologizes.
"So, I'm wondering. What was this deal Orochimaru offered you?" He asks.
"To rectify two of my miscomings of the past." Tsunade says saddened.
"Bringing back the dead? That's possible?" Jiang asks shocked.
"It's a forbidden jutsu, for good reason as well." Shizune says, looking at Tsunade worried.
The group then reach a bar, where Tsunade proceeds to get hammered until night.
"Hmm? Where did Tsunade go?" Jiang asks, seeing the bombshell missing when he returns from the bathroom, only having had a little amount of sake himself.
"She's probably thinking about Dan and Nawaki." Shizune says saddened.
"Her miscomings?" Jiang asks, getting a nod in return.
"I'll go talk to her." Jiang says, leaving the money to cover their bill on the table before leaving the bar.
"Hmm, beautiful night huh?" Jiang says, jumping up to Tsunade, who is sitting on an high arch, looking at the moon lost in thought.
"Here." He says, pouring himself and her a cup of Sake.
"Thanks." She says, accepting the cup.
"So, I know this is probably wrong to ask, but I feel like you need help. Even crude one as mine." Jiang says.
"Your fear of blood, is it because of those two people you lost?" Jiang asks.
His response is a moment of silence with Tsunade taking the saucer of Sake, drowning it in one go.
"Guess that's a yes." Jiang sighs.
"I know that I can't do anything to bring back your loved ones, but I implore you, don't fall into that snake's trap." Jiang says.
"You're still young, you don't know yet what it means to lose everything that was worth living for." Tsunade says, making Jiang remember his last battle for the Shu empire.
"You'd be surprised." Jiang tells her before standing up.
"If you're ready to accept help, I'm here for you. I might be rough around the edges but I mean well. I've been where you are and only made it because of some people kicking my ass to wake me up." Jiang says, remembering his time with the Raikage and his brother.
"Here, you can reach me with this." Jiang says, giving her a summon scroll for a tiger cub, who is instructed to reverse summon him if anyone opens the scroll.
"Hmpf." Tsunade huffs, storing the scroll in her massive cleavage.
"Say goodnight to Shizune for me. I'll probably be around, looking for that Snake." Jiang tells Tsunade, before jumping down, summoning his companion Kai and disappearing in a puff of smoke with the cougar.
"So, what does the old cat want?" Jiang asks, walking through the desert area that's part of the wildcat plane.
"I don't know." Kai says, leading him to a large mountain with many door-like holes.
When Jiang enters, he gets lead through some corridors, before arriving in a massive cave, where 5 giant wild cats are lying on platforms in a circle around the room, with a table in the middle of the room, a normal sized black cat lying on a purple pillow.
"I've brought the summoner as requested." Kai says, bowing to the group before leaving.
"Nyaah, ah yes. Jiang. Good to see you, it's been a while." The cat greets him, stretching its back while standing up.
"Neko-sama, grand council." Jiang says, bowing to them respectfully. The blue furred Tiger, Abyssmal waving at him.
"We called you here because I think you are ready for the next part of your training." The black cat says, sitting down, facing him.
"Next part?" Jiang asks curiously.
"Yes. You may not have noticed but you have a special condition, making you the first human specifically able to handle this training. Have you heard of Sage mode?" The cat asks, yellow eyes searching his grey ones.
"No, can't say I have." Jiang replies.
"Well it's a very powerful but also difficult technique. You use your bond to a summon race to become one with nature and use its energies for yourself." The cat says.
"Sounds great, but I thought I was supposed to travel around the elemental nations, getting to know the five elements and earning the councils respect?" Jiang asks, recalling the mission the summons set him out to when he first earned the right to the summoning scroll.
"Yes, but that doesn't mean we can't teach you some jutsus until you've achieved that goal." The black cat says.
"Then, I thank you all for your trust in me and am honored to accept your teachings." Jiang says, kneeling down on one knee in front of the black cat and the massive creatures around him.
"You have to be patient though young one. If you rush the technique and aren't careful you could die." The black cat warns.
"Nothing worthwhile is without risk." Jiang says with a grin.
"Well said, that's also why We're going to tell you the reason we were reluctant to bring you here." The cat says.
"There are some in our clan outside of the elements, like the lava panther you've met before. One of these unique summons is the undead lynx." The cat says.
"Continue." Jiang says nodding.
"The lynx is much like that Gaara kid you fought. He was once a trusting comrade, but his power gradually overwhelmed him, until that was was left of him, became unreachable for us. We've decided to let you try your luck in finding a way to help him, now that we have managed to capture him." The cat says, leading Jiang through some corridors, before they arrive in a cell, where a grey lynx, with a furless bone tail and its underside of its jaw being only bone snarls at them, held back by black chains, running into the walls.
"Be careful though, he's stronger than his size suggests." The cat says, leaving Jiang alone with the lynx.
|four days later|
Naruto and Jiraya managed to find Tsunade, one day after her run in with Orochimaru and Jiraya asked her to become Hokage. When she refuses Naruto challenged her, getting easily beaten, only for Naruto to make a bet with her, that if he can learn the final stage of the rasengan in three days she'll come with them to Konoha and she bets her priceless crystal necklace as well.
On this day Tsunade met with Orochimaru on her own, having knocked out Shizune and Jiraya, having poisoned the latter with a sleeping pill and something which disrupts the chakra flow.
The two plus Naruto and Tonton follow after Tsunade however, finding her facing off against Kabuto, who was going head to head with her, before disabling her, by stabbing himself through his arm, splattering the hemophobe in blood, leaving her a shivering mess, trapped in visions of her dying brother and lover.
Until Jiraya fights Orochimaru and his snake summon while Naruto and Shizune try to take on Kabuto.
She gets woken from her visions when she sees Naruto lying unmoving on the floor in front of her, with Shizune trying to stand, but Kabuto disabled her legs with his jutsu.
Tsunade is shivering uncontrollably while she sees Kabuto approach her cockily. Her hand touches a scroll however, which fell out of her robe when the snake summon caused a massive quake, knocking the Konoha nins over.
Unfurling the scroll she puts some chakra into is with much difficulty, her hand shaking like a leaf in the wind.
"One moment please." She hears a voice say and sees a dog sized Tiger cup coughing up something.
When it finishes, a large scroll is lying in front of it and the Tiger taps one of the two names on the scroll, Jiang appearing n front of it with a puff of smoke.
"Huh?" He asks, looking around and sees the frightened form of Tsunade along with everything else that's going on.
"You can go." He tells the tiger, who gobbles up the scroll and dismisses itself.
"You know, when I said to call me for help I was hoping a romantic candle light dinner or something." Jiang tells Tsunade gently, taking off his robe and uses it to clean away the blood from Tsunade.
"Behind you." She weakly squeaks out, seeing Kabuto hover over him, his hand glowing bright blue.
"It's fine. You made the right decision calling me." Jiang says, his entire body being covered in lightning chakra again, Tsunade feeling a pleasurable jolt throughout her body from his touch, while Kabuto who tries to hit him, has to back off, his attacks not penetrating Jiang's lightning armor.
"You know, if there's one thing besides traitors I hate, then it's seeing a beautiful woman cry." Jiang says angrily, his cloak getting brighter, some sparks flying off it, creating minin craters in the ground.
He then disappears from view, being even faster than the Sannins can follow, before standing in front of Kabuto, whose glasses literally burst from the soundwave Jiang creates. The Oto nin then gets flung across the field, landing hard against a rock, a burn singing his arm from where Jiang kicked him.
"Damn." Orochimaru curses upon seeing the teen who attacked him before appear and kicks Jiraya away, telling his snake to swallow himself and Kabuto before it disperses, helping them escape.
"Sneaky bastard." Jiang growls, loosing jis lightning cloak and goes over to Naruto, sitting him up against a rock.
"What is he even doing here?" Jiang asks the group, with Jiraya joining them.
"And you are?" Jiang asks confused.
"I'm the legendary frog ninja, Jiraya one of the Sanin." Jiraya says, doing his usual kabuki dance.
"Hmm." Jiang murmurs, before slapping Naruto across the face, having no success in waking him up however.
"Hmm, something is wrong with him." Jiang says, feeling his pulse beat irregularily.
"No. No, not again." Tsunade says, crawling over to the blonde youth, checking his pulse and tries to gather healing chakra in her hands, but they won't stop shaking, being still splattered with Kabuto's blood.
"Breathe. Relax, now concentrate and tell me what to do." Jiang says, draping his green jacket over her head, tying it around, so she can't see anymore.
She then feels two hands grab hers, rubbing the back of them soothingly.
"The boys chest. Put my hands on his chest." Tsunade says, regaining her senses, comforted by Jiang's warm hands guiding hers.
"Kabuto hit him with his technique when we weren't paying attention. His heart. His heart is beating irregular, it's stopping. I ... I won't make it." Tsunade shouts worried, tears flowing down her eyes, recalling losing her brother and Dan who are so much like the blonde in front of her.
"Tsunade. Calm down." Jiang says sternly.
