Chapter 37 - Theory

"SEF!" Bryan was yelling but serefina wasn't able to respond still dark in front of her.

Bryan was holding her hand tight. "Sef," he sobbed. Was he crying? "Please don't. I don't want to loose you again. Please!"

What did he mean by again? "Sef, wake up! SEF!"

Serefina's eyes where having vision again. The first person she saw was a teary eyed Bryan.

"Sef!" He helped her up in a sitting position. And without another word he pulled her for a hug. "Sef, don't scare me like that again, alright?" He stroked her hair as Serefina hugged him back.

He pulled away and wiped his tears. "Thank time you're alright."

Serefina scanned through the location. The place was the same with all the colorful crystals. But the crystals were shattered on the ground. "What happened here?" she managed to say.

"Just an earthquake. Let's take you home." Bryan lifted her up in his arms.

Serefina was too shocked to respond. "B-Bryan, put me down. You don't have to carry me. I can walk!"

"Don't say anything, will you?" He smiled.

"But you seem so tired!"

"It's fine really. Just rest okay?"

As ticklish feeling returned of Bryan's teleporting, Serefina never knew how she fell asleep.

•••

Serefina woke up with a headache. "What on earth is-"

She remembered everything from last night as her face turned red. She flopped her face on a pillow. "What is happening to me!"

She jumped off the bed as she was clearly late for school again.

•••

"Okay, explaination?" Kyle asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Umm, well, you see," Serefina stammered. "There was an earthquake where we found Grypsin and Linda. I don't remember anything after that. Just that Bryan carried me to my home." Serefina cleared her throat when she found out what she had said.

"What do you mean by carried you?" Kyle smirked.

"Nevermind that." She started walking to hide her blushing face. 'This was a mistake!' she thought.

Then time knows why she stumbled straight on Bryan as he saved her from falling. Serefina felt the warmth of his chest as he held her in his arms. She didn't want to pull away. It felt nice.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"Yeah."

He inched close to her ear. "Thank you for saying yes Sef. It really means a lot."

Serefina just nodded.

"Sorry for my interruption," Kyle jumped in. "But we are late."

Serefina unwantedly pulled away as Bryan gave her a smile.

Kyle snatched her hand and they proceeded upstairs.

Serefina would rather sleep than attend Mr. Lofan's class. His words were as slow as his walking. "At page...six hundred eighty two...we have...a chart...that shows...how we...use a Curvu...plant," he said.

"Hey, Serefina?" Kyle whispered.

"Yeah?" Serefina whispered back.

"You're coming to the palace today, right?"

"Why?"

"What why? You have try on your dress for the ball!"

"Bryan told you?"

"No I forced him to tell me."

"Oh."

"What is it?"

"Just a little nervous. And then there is Grandma. We don't have any clue of where she is. Or how she is. "

"Well, if you still don't know Bryan, what he says he does it no matter what and he never breaks his promise. So you don't have to worry we'll definitely find her."

Kyle's words did reassure her but there was a part of that was scared. What was going to happen to Timeland now that the Time crystals broke? The thought haunted her every night. The crystals were the heart of Timeland. How would the land survive?

"Hey Serefina?"

"Yeah?"

"I got to ask. What did exactly happen to your mom?"

"I only know what the other people say. She disappeared changing the future."

"No details? I mean your grandma didn't tell you? About your own mother?"

"I don't know how to say this but I was never really curious about her. It's just that I haven't even seen her picture. Though I did see her as a child in one of the Time Crystals. "

"Maybe there are links between the events."

"What do you mean? It's been seven years since she disappeared without a single word."

"Well, breaking of Time Crystals. Then your grandma lost while finding them. Sedvie showing up out of nowhere. A person from the Time Council dying. These all seem connected."

"I know but what is it to my mom?"

"She could be the key, you know?"

"Key?"

"Look, your mom according to the legends disappeared while trying to change the future. If the future she was trying to change was the breaking of Time Crystals, maybe..."

"Your actually making complete sense. But how did she know that the Time Crystals would ever break? Did she use the future crystal? Or something else?"

"That is the question we need the answer of."
