Savior

"Well, well, well. That was close. Thanks for the save, Conwell!" Meliodas said lightheartedly with a grin. Conwell nodded and jumped down from the cliff, landing on the ground in front of Meliodas. He looked at Meliodas who was still kneeling on the ground. Meliodas' body, specifically his arms, were covered in heavy wounds and burns.

"You seem pretty relaxed for someone who nearly died. You had a backup plan or something?" Conwell questioned.

"Kind of." Meliodas said with a cheeky smile. Conwell nodded and turned to face Blu's body. To his surprise, the body was no longer there. Only a pile of dust remained.

"I'm guessing overusing that power caused his body to disintegrate. Did you see the Eden's Fruit by any chance?" Conwell asked, scanning the area.

"I think I saw one over there." Meliodas said, pointing towards the corpse of the double agent.

"Ah...so he was found out…" Conwell said with noticeable sadness in his voice. Conwell walked up to the body and crouched down over it. "Rest in peace, friend. Your efforts were not in vain." A few moments of silence passed before Conwell stood back up and looked at Meliodas.

"If you can walk, get your wounds treated and meet me back at the Inn. I'll deal with the clean up."

Several hours later

"I'll take one glass of Kabir ale!" Meliodas said as he sat at the Bishaal Inn bar. The bartender nodded and poured him a glass. Meliodas eagerly grabbed the glass and took a huge gulp.

"Whew, that hit the spot!" Meliodas commented.

"Sorry that it took so long." Conwell said as he approached Meliodas and took a seat on the barstool next to Meliodas.

"I'll have what he's having." Conwell said, pointing to Meliodas' drink. The bartender nodded and immediately pulled out a new glass and began pouring the drink.

"Pretty empty today huh…" Meliodas commented. He recalled previously when the bar was filled to the brim with people during his first visit, but now it was just Meliodas and Conwell.

"That's no thanks to you." Conwell laughed. "That explosion you caused spooked the citizens into hiding. I had to call my squadron to have them deal with the mass panic."

"Haha! Sorry about that!" Meliodas said to the bartender, aware that his actions might have affected his business.

"Do not fret. You were only doing your job." The bartender said before walking away to the back area. There was a brief moment of silence between Meliodas and Conwell as they enjoyed their drinks.

"How's your sister doing?" Meliodas asked, breaking the silence.

"She's completely healed. That fruit worked a miracle. However, her body still needs rest." Conwell said.

"But… regarding your performance Meliodas, you did good work today. You got rid of a huge threat." Conwell continued.

"Me? Nah you did all the work." Meliodas responded.

"Well I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. By the way, that power I sensed coming from you earlier...I have yet to run into a single mage in this world with that kind of dark presence. You're a demon aren't you?" Conwell commented.

"Yup!" Meliodas said bluntly.'It's kind of nice that more people in this world can accept me being a demon compared to Britannia.'

"Explains how your wounds healed so fast. Although I will say, you're a lot more like the demons from the Mystic Realm rather than from here." Conwell said.

"Oh right, you said you're from the Mystic Realm. But you said you can't tell me how you got here right?" Meliodas replied.

"You know, I guess I don't mind sharing a few details with you. You seem like an alright guy." Conwell said with a smile. "But you have to tell me all about how you got to this world first. I'm interested in that."

"Sure thing." Meliodas said. "Although it's not a very long story. It's pretty much I was fighting a creature called Cath Palug who used the power of chaos to somehow send me here."

"Chaos?" Conwell questioned. "Like chaos magic?"

"Uhh…" Meliodas leaned forward against the counter, putting his hand on his chin. "Well, well...what's the best way to describe this simply…"

"Chaos created my world." Meliodas said bluntly. Conwell's eyes widened with surprise upon hearing the statement.

"You were fighting something like that?!" Conwell exclaimed.

"Well, not the full power. If it was the full power of chaos, I wouldn't be here now." Meliodas said. "But while I was fighting Cath, Cath did something and opened a rift. And that rift sucked me in so here I am."

"A rift...that's the same way I came through. The mystic realm was already a dangerous place. The space that held it together was unstable, and portions of the realm would just disappear without a trace. Then, 4 years ago, a rift opened up out of nowhere. Seeing that as our chance to escape to a world that wasn't falling apart, we scrambled together whoever we could into this world." Conwell answered.

"Four years ago? That's when I came here. I think it was sometime in July of X784…" Meliodas mused.

"Don't tell me…" Conwell said with a wide eyed expression. "Did you also arrive on July 15th, X784?"

"Yeah, that was definitely it." Meliodas responded.

"Then...that rift couldn't have been a coincidence…just what the hell is that power of chaos?" Conwell questioned.

"I'll be honest, I barely understand it myself. But chaos granted Cath the power to bend reality to whatever he pleased." Meliodas said.

"So that rift...was possibly from Cath tearing through the fabric of reality then...an absolute power that surpasses the boundaries between worlds." Conwell said silently. There was another brief moment of silence between Meliodas and Conwell as they took another sip of their drinks, followed by even more silence.

"Tell me, do you miss your home?" Conwell asked, breaking the silence.

"Every day...not a day goes by where I wish I could return to Britannia…" Meliodas said.

"What about this world? Will you miss anything in this world if you find your way back?" Conwell asked.

"Yeah...I made a lot of friends here. It'll be hard leaving them behind but it's something I have to do someday…" Meliodas replied in a somber tone.

"Unfortunately, I can't provide any assistance in getting back to your world. However…" Conwell raised his hand out in front of him and a bright light began glowing. Meliodas immediately recognized the shape of the object forming.

"That's-"

"An extra fruit. I have no need for this. Consider this a gift from me for a mission well done." Conwell said. Meliodas nodded and took the fruit, putting it into his requip inventory.

"This thing won't go bad right?" Meliodas asked.

"As far as I know, it won't. But I guess you could always plant your own tree if it does grow bad. Except from what I heard from Phonoi, it takes a decade to grow a single fruit." Conwell responded.

"Well, I'll see if I can put it to good use."
