As three dark figures start coming closer, Gilbertie spoke calmly, he has encountered similar situations many times before.
"Good evening fellows, is there anything I can help you with?" hearing his calm voice even Pablo calmed down. Meanwhile the bandits took their daggers out.
In that moment Harriet heard a voice within her mind "You are safe, sing." The girl smiled and became calm as she looked closely to three approaching figures.
"What do you deliver in a carriage? Get out of it!" One of the bandits demanded in a threatening voice.
"Of course, fellows please have a look." Gilbertie replied politely "Harriet would you mind to leave carriage and let gentleman's look for whatever they need?" Old man was worried only about the girl. Beautiful, young women have a great value in a slave market... but for his surprise Harriet came out being very calm and without a trace of fear in her eyes.
Bandits looked at each other when they saw a beautiful maiden coming out of the carriage.
One of them went into carriage to look for any valuables but soon he came out disappointed as there was nothing. Gilbertie, exclaimed peaceful yet with a great confidence.
"Fellows, there is nothing valuable here! I am just a humble postman delivering news to families living in Capital provinces, now we going continue our journey back to the city"
One of the bandits wickedly smiled.
"We are taking a girl with us. Such a pure beauty is going be priceless" as he moved his dagger towards the postman and the girl.
The old man's body got tense yet he felt a gentle tap on his shoulder. Harriet looked into his eyes and with fearless voice said.
"It is all good Gilbertie. I am going go with those men." Then she turned around to bandits "I am willing go with you but can I sing a goodbye song for my friend?" She smiled and looked into the eyes of each bandit
Bandits looked at each other, as it was such unusual request.
"Sing that song and we are taking you with us" One of them spoke with agreement
Harriet's face light up with smile bringing hope into postman's heart.
"Thank you" her words was soaked into gratitude
Somewhere owl hooted in a far distance. Harriet started singing and the melody flowed as if she was a siren from the sea.
"In the eyes of danger,
When all surrounded,
In a dark,
Is there a knight,
In the night to rescue?
To bring the sun ray of the day
Filled with hope and truthful justice?
In the eyes of danger,
Mirrored star lights,
Onto silver blades,
Is there a knight,
In the night to rescue?
To bring the blades,
Without blood trace,
Into sunlight of New day?"
While all have been listening for song without realisation that song was not about saying good bye, suddenly three horses appeared out of darkness. Three knights jumped out and knocked off the bandits. Within minutes all of them were unconscious and tied up and placed onto horses.
One of the knights looked at the postman and the girl if they were alright. Gilbertie kneeled on his knees
"Thank you, noble Sirs, for saving us!" he was relieved seeing Royal Army knights. It was such luck that they were nearby
"Thank you so much Sirs for helping us out!" Cheerfully Harriet spoke out loud by giving a graceful bow
"Are you alright?" One of the knights asked looking closely for trace of any injury
"We have been lucky that you have been close by Sir, so none of us got hurt." The postman replied
Harriet looked at three knights closely and out of sudden she asked:
"Noble knights would like to have some water before we apart our ways?" Her green eyes lasered into knight with the blue eyes
The blue-eyed knight looked at the girl with a bit of the surprise and then he caught.
"Yes, we would like some water" he watched how beautiful maiden went into carriage and came back with a sack of water. She bowled before giving water and then looking into knights' eyes and handled water sack. One of the other knights wanted to say something yet the blue-eyed man took and drank the water as if he had not drink for hours, then he handled sack to others. After three nobles satisfy their thirst, the blue-eyed Sir returned and empty sack and apologised.
"We drank all your water, my sincerest apologies. We have been traveling for hours without any stop and any break to refill our sacks." The man explained looking into Harriets eyes
"Gilbertie still have some water left and it is going be plenty for two of us" she smiled ."Thank you once again for helping us out!" Joyfully Harriet sighted and bowl again "Please take this flower garland as a thank you gift for saving us" She took off flower garland from her head and placed into blue-eyed knight hands.
The blue-eyed knight nodded his head looking into Harriet's eyes. Then he turned back and gave a signal to other two. As three knights was about to leave, Harriet spoke out loud.
"Nobel knights I am sure there is a punishment for bandits set in this kingdom, yet would you be able to consider give a chance for these three men to be place into Royal Army? Who knows they service can be very valuable and bring a great benefit to the kingdom?" She smiled and bowled
The blue-eyed knight turned his horse around, looked at the girl and spoke firmly.
"Usually those who try to steal from King is punished with a death sentence." he paused "We might examine these three men in a prison and see if they have a value and potential for a great service in the Royal Army"
He nodded his head once again, turned his horse around and three knights dashed towards the city lights.
"Good bye and Thank you!" The echo of Harriet jiggling voice reached three knights while they dashed through the night back to Capital.
Gilbertie looked stunned with the event that just happened. He looked at Harriet that seem to be so calm as if she knew that they would be saved. Meanwhile the girl looked at the postman smiled and hugged him.
"We are alive Gilbertie, We are alive!" Her laughter was echoing through darkness as ringing sun rays.
The man smiled and felt joy to be alive. He and Harriet when back to the carriage and continued their journey to the city. Soon they saw astonishing city lights that was blurring night sky and stars to nothingness. Soon they came closer and closer to capital gates...
As both travellers were illiterate for all Royal matter and politics, both of them had no clue that they have been saved by no other but A Prince himself.
