Set in the year 2040 in Raleigh, the story is told in a non-linear interview style (though it will feature a song and a speech), focusing on various people who had experienced many tragedies throughout their lifetime. With stories that are enticed with deception, personal struggles, occultism, and a deep sense of fear, each citizen has gathered around in a restaurant called Harvest 18 to tell stories about their past and how it affected them in different ways. 

Dr. Bridges, a psychiatrist from Michigan, sets up counseling at Harvest 18 for patients that dealt with tragedies that affected them. Warm, helpful, and inviting, he offers great advice to patients on how to be resilient in difficult times. The series will be served as a prequel to the apocalyptic series 2049 which takes place nine years where a final battle for the end of the world will be staged. 

Tragedy Awaits is a psychological tragedy that is told in an interview style. Tackling dark social issues, its story revolves around the theme of resilience, which encompasses many different scenarios that each person had been through (i.e. family loss, paranoia, stress).

Tragedy Awaits

Hello, everybody. I'm glad that everyone had come here to tell their experiences growing up in America. Welcome to Harvest 18. My name is Eric Bridges and I will be your counselor for the day. I was originally born in Royal Oak, Michigan but I transferred here because I applied for a counseling job in North Carolina. I live in a two-story household with my wife Laura and four kids Louisana, Oregon, Cheyenne, and Vermont.


I love having you all here. I'm glad that we can speak about our problems and how we should overcome them.


I wanted to write this story because everything that happened in the world relates to how people are struggling to strive within a flawed, but still functioning society. Instead of focusing on one particular person, I'm focusing on various people that have experienced many tragedies within their life. One of the inspirations that came into mind was Janet Jackson's album Rhythm Nation 1814. I absolutely loved this album because of how influential it is. Ranging from social issues such as substance abuse, poverty, racism, and education, the album also deals with love and hope to balance out the dark with the light.


Tragedy Awaits will have tragedy, yes, but it will also be combined with the theme of resilience to tell an uplifting story about overcoming the darkness. The series will be a prequel to the apocalyptic fantasy 2049.
