"Rory"

The first thing I felt was the thud of my heart. It was in my ears, in my fingertips, my brain, everywhere. It was like I could feel my veins constrict with blood and move through my body, bringing oxygenated blood and non-oxygenated blood to my heart & lungs to nurture the human machine. And breathing, yes I could breathe. I'm slowly regaining feeling and senses, I forgot breathing was a thing for a moment.

...I need to get up. With that thought in mind, I expect to open my eyes and sit up, but that doesn't happen, I realize, I can barely move- lifting a few fingertips was so numbing and heavy. It felt like my fingers were filled with sand and cotton stuffed at the same time.

I was too tired and I found myself falling asleep easily.

-

Awaking again I felt much better, still numb and tingly but could open my eyes.

...Where?

My lids were heavy, it was hard to think but I focused on the ceiling, or better yet, a steal sphere? Trying to process my surroundings I moved my head a little to get a better view and it indeed appeared to surround me. I could also make out that I was wearing long-sleeved dark clothes. The sensation in my fingertips caught my attention, touching and feeling what I lay on, the feeling was a bit surreal.

It felt like one of those Puffer Balls you'd see at the store and pull the rubber until it broke. I tried moving my head down but a wave of nausea came over me from the action. I got a glimpse of the ground though and discovered it was light gray in color and appeared to glow, that's how I could see. It moved in a hypnotic motion of back in forth as if it were alive.

My cheek rested on the little villi-looking things that easily surrendered back into its squishy motherboard, I moved my hand around them trying to tease and understand, but they sensed anything that applied pressure with intent. When I remained still the ones that had popped down below came out to do their unusual dance. When pressing hard enough on the tough jelly below them a white shockwave traveled around the sphere.

My cotton head and stuffy body cleared a little of the cloud away. I could think, I knew I had woken up before and I could finally start remembering. But it was hard to recall, I remember that dad was panicked, the ship shaking a lot, and after that, I remember it being really dark, and cold.

Trying to remember more sent me into a panic. My heart jolted and looking around the small confinement broke me from the strange calming peace I was in just a while ago. This wasn't right, my gut clenched.

I placed both hands on the dome above me putting pressure on it and getting increasingly frustrated when it didn't come off. Still feeling like I had a sinus infection and tingly I couldn't use my full strength but I panicked even more knowing I can't get out.

I tried punching the dome, didn't work. I turned on my belly and tried finding anywhere of escape on the ground, but nothing. Even tearing at the little fingerling things didn't have any success.

What the hell.

Am I in hell? My head muddled feeling unused. Why do I feel like shit? I had to sit back and rest to gain back some energy. It was getting increasingly claustrophobic in here, wherever I am.

Gotta stay calm.

I swallowed my rising panic and closed my eyes. Attempting to preserve what little peace I have left.

Staying in dim lighting without doing anything was tiresome, so I drifted. I gave a long fatiguing sigh but noticed the top of the sphere move. Suddenly a loud clack made my heart lurch into my throat. The steel dome above appeared to be loosened and started sliding off. Immediately adrenaline shot through me, I didn't know what to expect on the other side and shot up even if it made me dizzy, ready to run at any chance.

Uh...

I had to pause for a moment. I was seeing but at the same time my brain was in shock or something, it was hard to digest.

Well, it looks sort of human? But definitely not. They had pink skin, colorful big eyes, and were...unusually tall? It wore robe-type clothing, clinging to its skin. Whatever it was, it was cute in a creepy way.

I was somewhat calmed because of the distance it was from me, it was enough to feel comfortable I guess. The thing tapped on some device and looked only twice in my direction. I took that chance to look around quickly. The room was very technological, looking like the walls were made out of machines, like something off star wars.

It was easy to connect the dots but my head wouldn't allow such a thing, it would be too much. Aliens! It's totally fucking aliens! Was I abducted? My body quivered and lost the will to jump out, plus if I stood right now I'd just fall like a sack of potatoes.

Calm down Roy, breath, this isn't that mind-blowing, is it? Yep totally not. Just an average day for the son of an astronaut...

"What's your name?"

That was unexpected. I snapped my head in their direction, the thing looked expectantly at me. After no answer, it looked to lose patients, like a human. It can speak language from Earth though! And the alien had a nice voice.

"Roy," I found myself saying even if talking left a funny taste in my mouth. I should tell dad about this...when I wake up.

"Rory," It repeated, saying it completely wrong.

"No, Roy," I furrowed my eyebrows. We made eye contact and it took the device that was glued to its hand and slid it into a crevice on their clothing. The thing then crossed its arms. "Roror," It then said in all seriousness.

I looked at the creature and deadpanned, "There is only one 'R' in my name 'rOy,'" I put emphasis on the pronunciation. I then wondered why I'm even talking to it in such a casual manner, then realized how insane this situation is. "L-look dude, thing, ma'am? Um...where am I?" I cut myself off hoping the alien will have social cues.

It smiled- Smiling literally, like an actual smirk. "Your on a medical table, we found you in severe condition. You had frostbite and hyperthermia, I fixed you up though." It seemed quite proud, like a nerd who can go on and on about the medical world.

...I don't remember ever getting into that condition.

"Anyway what I'm more interested in, is you." I froze and watched as they moved to a table off to the side, grabbed some sort of tray in their hands, and walked my way. I tensed and pushed back until I hit the wall behind me.

The alien slowed its mellow pace at my reaction. I suppose it wasn't expecting me to react as if I've never seen an alien before? It narrowed its critical colorful eyes, now that it was closer the colors came together in a pastel whirl with a dark purple pupil dotted in the middle.

It then took out its device and started doing its thing again, staying in place and holding the tray in its other hand.

"100% human," It suddenly stated and looked up, "it really is impossible. They're an extinct species you know that. I have human descendants from long ago...Your like...a dinosaur- does that make sense?"

I gawked. "What the hell are you saying?" I couldn't stop my mouth, and I wasn't going to stop it.

The alien sighed and decided to pull out a rolly chair, still a distance away from me, and sat the tray back at the table. With it growing comfortable it tapped away on its device, "Give me your full name, age, race, gender, born planet, current residence, date of birth, and how you ended up in your original condition."

It looked expectantly at me and I had to swallow a gallon of saliva to stop my heart from throwing itself up. I tugged a string on the black jumpsuit I, unfortunately, was wearing.

When will I wake up?
