Scandal

After a little while, the door opened. Mike saw David in his boxers. It was evident he has just gotten up from the bed. Mike won't be surprised if he hasn't taken bath yet.

Mike almost shouted "what the hell Man. You are not ready yet? I texted you an hour back that I will be reaching your place in an hour. We will be late for the mall."

David yawned and then replied rudely "Care to come in?"

Mike entered his house and said "ok. I get it you are upset as I asked you to get up early on weekend but no need to be rude?"

David gave a look to Mike and said "Just sit on the couch and watch the news."

"What's wrong with you David?"

"Just watch the news. I am sure you will want to change your plan soon."

Confused Mike sat on the couch and started watching the news.

The News Flashed

"Another Scandal burst. High end A list Actress caught taking drugs in an after-party."

The glimpse showed the face of Samantha.

"Some says her PR manager is a drug peddler"

A glimpse of a girl is shown.

Mike recognized her. She is Catherine.

Mike was quite shocked and he said in low voice "This can't be true. The news has gone shitty now."

"Chill bro… Did you have breakfast?"

"Fuck you, David. What's with this news? Why they are trapping our company and ..Catherine?"

"Chill bro. As you can see I have just got up so I am gonna make some coffee. Do you want some?"

" Yes please..but this news?"

"Don't you want to go to the mall?"

"Fuck the mall. I want to know if this is true? Is Catherine involved in this?"

"Hmmm…seems like we are not going mall then…so we have lot of time. Let's talk over coffee. I am going to the kitchen. Can you please order some breakfast? The food delivery menu is there on the table."

Saying this David moves towards the kitchen. Mike sat on the couch numb.

Mike's POV

I can't believe this. No this can't be true. Catherine cannot do this. She is mature enough about the consequences of this. I guess she is innocent. She is being dragged in this. This accusation of her is false. But she is the one who was handling Samantha's work. Also, there are other senior PR as well who are equally talented but I haven't seen them handling a-listers work. Why Catherine is chosen every time to handle work? Does that mean she is doing this thing with other actresses as well? Why the hell she stayed for after the party? She was supposed to handle events only for Samantha..

David's POV

Dude I feared this. I tried protecting Mike. Mike doesn't know Catherine yet. She is a honey trap. Mike is in love with Catherine. It's evident now from the way he reacted. It's not too late now. I will try to explain to Mike that Catherine is not good for him. Damn Mike from all of these girls why Catherine? I treat mike like my younger brother. After everything that has happened with Eva and Kelly, I cannot afford the same thing to happened to Mike. This time history will not repeat itself. I will do my best to protect Mike.

Mike came from the kitchen grabbing two Mugs of coffee. He placed them on the coffee table.

David then turned towards Mike and to divert his mood from Catherine asked "so what have you ordered?"

Mike came out of his thoughts by David's voice.

"oh sorry. I haven't placed the order yet. So what should I order?"

" Let it be mike. I will order now. Here take your coffee."

He handed him a coffee mug and took the food delivery pamphlet in his hand and started seeing the food options

" So sandwich and Potato jacket...Will it be fine for you?"

"Ya it's fine."

"Ok. I will order it. How's the coffee?"

"Ya it's fine"

Only if David knew that at this point none of Mike's senses are working properly. He didn't want to eat, drink, sleep, talk. Only one question revolved in his mind…why Catherine?

After placing the order David looked at Mike and sensing his expression spoke

"Mike there are a lot of things which you are unaware of. Catherine is more involved in this than your imagination. How do you think she has afforded the penthouse? XYZ might pay good but not so much that anyone can afford a penthouse in New York."

" I thought Lucas has given her the house."

"To some extent you are right but Lucas will not give her anything for free."

"That means Lucas is the one who is involved as well?"

"Lucas is Mafia's boss so of course he is involved in drug dealing and his not so little girlfriend is involved in drug peddling. I am warning you Mike please stay away from that girl."

"Ya David...You need to relax. There is nothing between us. But she is my friend and this news has shocked me to the soul."

The order arrived. David went to the kitchen and bought the brunch. Both sat on the couch rest of the day watching the news, eating, and munching. In the evening they went for a walk.

It was a day that filled my mind with anxiety and curiosity. The best thing was Mike was with David who understood his mood and lightened his mood with jokes and humorous incidents. He also showed Mike his college photos and narrated their college trip stupid pranks. In the evening Mike returned to his apartment.
