The Honey Trap

Mike knocked at Catherine's cabin door.

"Come in." He heard her voice

Mike went inside.

"Hey, Catherine. You texted. What's the emergency?"

"Please sit Mike."

Mike took a seat on a couch placed in her cabin a little distant from her chair. She looked at him.

"Hey, Mike. You can sit on this chair in front of me, I am not going to eat you."

"Can you tell me Catherine what was the emergency? I am getting late." Mike said a bit annoyed

" Actually for all the investors, we are organizing a thanking ceremony where we will be doing a felicitation of our partners and sponsors. I have sent some banner designs and ads to Alandra. I will need you to embed it on our site and check how we can get the ads to be embedded on Instagram and Facebook ads. I have already spoken to the social media team but we will need to optimize the ads. We want it to reach the maximum audience to get max publicity. I will be meeting the social media team of Instagram and Facebook tomorrow and I would like you to accompany me."

"Ok. I guess Alandra knows about these strategies. You can discuss with her and David is more experienced than me so I guess it makes sense if you ask him to accompany you." Mike suggested

"Are you questioning my decision? I know Alandra and David are good at it but they are busy with other tasks and so I am asking you." She said instantly

"Ok."

"Good. We will leave tomorrow morning and will meet them."

"Ok fine. I will be there. So shall I leave now?" Mike asked

"Hey what's the hurry? Let's go for dinner."

"Sorry, Catherine but I have a few tasks to take care of back at my apartment."

"It's strange. I am getting a feeling you are trying to avoid me."

"I need to go. Bye"

"Not so soon."

Catherine stood up from her chair and locked her cabin door from inside and put the blinds down.

"What the hell you are doing? What's wrong with you?" mike asked a bit frustrated

"I should ask you this. What's wrong with you?"

Saying so she came near the couch Mike was sitting on and sat on his lap.

"Get up Catherine."

She ignored his words and continued sitting on his lap. She further came close to him and whispered in his ears " Don't you find me attractive anymore? Let's go for dinner at my place. We will have dinner and dessert."

He pushed Catherine gently on the couch and stood up.

"I am leaving Catherine. I would expect you to behave professionally at the workplace."

Catherine's face grew red with anger.

"You are not in the right frame of your mind Mike."

She further came near him and forced herself on him. She seductively bit her lips and said " I know you want me. You can't resist me. Saying so she pinned him against the wall. Her closeness was already messing up with Mike's hormones. He somehow gathered himself and pushed her aside gently. "I need to go. Please control yourself."

Saying so he opened the cabin and left. Catherine stood there shocked.

After coming back to the apartment he went to his room and lied flat on the bed thinking of the incident that happened in the office.

What is up with Catherine. Did she really like me? If this is so then why she used me. Is she changed now when I was gone? Maybe she might have realized her affection and love towards me when I was on leave. But she didn't try contacting me via phone even once when I was on leave.

His mind was thinking of all sorts of possibilities when his phone buzzed.

Radha has created a Whatsapp group: Trip Buddies" she has added Mike, Mary, and Josh. She sent her wedding card to all.

It was a 3-day ceremony. First-day engagement, 2nd-day cocktails, Henna and Sangeet(music and dance), and 3rd the final day is the wedding.

Indians are so much obsessed with weddings. I mean 3 days for marriage. Seriously. He thought. But then suddenly It also came to his mind that it means he can see Mary consecutively for 3 days.

Thankfully Radha's wedding celebration was on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. So that means It will be the weekend and he can attend all 3 ceremonies if Mary is attending.

He texted Mary. "Hey. What's up?"

He put the phone aside. After 10 minutes, his phone buzzed. He took his phone and saw a new message. He opened the message.

"Fan" was a text from Mary

"Seriously?" He texted back

"Well, technically that is what is up."

"Ok. So what about Radha's wedding. Are you going?"

"Need to check my schedule."

"O come on. I have never been to an Indian wedding before. Please say yes."

" Well even I haven't attended any Indian wedding before but I need to check if there are some planned surgeries."

"It's on weekend."

" For us, there is no weekend Mike. Gimme 1 minute I will check my planner."

"You have a planner?"

"Yup I write all my upcoming surgery day and time on it so that it gives me time to plan my activities."

"Interesting."

"Ok...Just checked. I don't have any planned surgery that week."

" Great. "

"But there is an issue."

"What?"

" I have nothing to wear."

"That's not an issue. Melissa is a fashion designer. I guess she can help you with the outfit."

"Melissa as in Jeff's girlfriend? But I don't know her."

"So maybe we all can meet this week. What say?"

" I think I can join."

"Great I will check with Jeff and Melissa and make some plan."

"Cool."

While Mike was chatting with Mary he got another message notification. He opened the message. It was from Catherine. After what had happened in the office she is the last person Ihewant to talk to but still, he opened the message to check what she wants.

"Hey Mike, I hope you remember our meeting with Mr. Potter tomorrow morning at 10:30 am. He is the head of the social media department."

Mike wondered how can she act normally after what had happened. To be professional he replied

"Yes, Catherine. I will be there. Thanks"

"Ok. Also, I wanted to know....why are you resisting me? We are so good together. What we have is so beautiful."

"You mean friends with benefits or me being your little dirty secret?"

"What are you talking about Mike> You were never my dirty secret?"

"Really? Why don't you leave Lucas and then be with me? We can make an official announcement."

"You know Mike I can't do that."

"That's what I thought."

After this Mike put his phone aside. he was getting the message notifications continuously from Catherine but he ignored them.
