Chapter 7

After waiting out that stupid bus ride, still fuming at the insult from Jack. Franky got off the phone with his Dad as he stepped off the bus, Knowing Jack's parents were locked up he had the confidence to go through with his Dad's plan not knowing in the next few moments his dad was captured too. Franky motioned all his friends over to the map on the table showing them where they were going to place the dynamite. One of Franky's friends asked about the civilians and their other classmates. Franky just like his dad didn't care and said "If some innocent people get in the way who cares." Knowing not to back talk the leader of their little group the boy just nodded and tried to stick to the back of the group as they got their orders.

While Jack's group was unpacking and getting ready to meet each other down by the lift Franky and his friends were already at the top spreading out to put together their devilish master plan. Putting their dynamite where it would do the most damage, Franky's goons turned on the electric signals and began skiing down the mountain to meet up with Franky, so they could blow this mountain sky high and bury Jack and his friends in enough snow to wipe out a whole city. 

Waiting on the girls to get to the lift the boys were chatting about what they were going to do all week. They had the time to hang out, get closer to certain people and have fun. As the girls arrived Lucy grabbed Jack's arm possessively while Sam went and stood next to her twin. Leaving Hal and Harper as lift partners and obvious mountain buddies. On the way up the twins talked about their brothers' love life and laughed that it took this long. Jack and Lucy snuggled, talked, kissed and looked at the beautiful mountainside. 

Hal on the other hand was more nervous than he had ever been. Sitting right next to Harper, and I mean like right next to, he was freaking out trying to find something to say. Harper sitting as close to him as she could patiently waiting for him to say something almost jumped out of the lift seat when Hal started pretty much yelling at her. "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO THIS BUT I REALLY LIKE YOU AND WOULD LIKE TO TAKE YOU TO DINNER!" 

Grabbing her before she could fall off the lift Hal was almost in pain at how bad that had gone, he yelled at her for cryin out loud!! Harper, scared out of her mind for the first moment finally heard the words he had said and started laughing hysterically making Hal feel that much more of a loser as she continued to laugh. Harper realizing his hurt and sad expression decided to help him understand a little. "Hal I am so sorry for laughing but you scared the living daylights out of me! I really like you to and would love to eat with you." Watching him watch her with his mouth open she proceeded to close his mouth with her hand under his jaw, grab his face and kiss him before he could say anything.

Jack and Lucy, and the Twins all watching and listening from their seats cheered and surprised the two new lovebirds as they kissed and smiled. Hal finally coming up for air was ecstatic. "I'm so happy you said yes, if you hadn't this trip would have been really awkward." Harper just laughed and snuggled in closer, happy with the development and still chuckling at Hals little yelling episode.

Reaching the top of the mountain the group hopped off their lifts and met at the edge of the summit. Franky watching with Binoculars fingered the trigger that would change his life forever. Seeing them headed to the side of the mountain right above the spot where the explosives were set Franky started to get antsy, he had to trigger them just right or there was a chance they would get away.

Strapped in and ready to go the group of shifters started down the mountain. The boys doing tricks, the girls watching and clapping, or laughing if they ate snow. The kids being shifters were very coordinated and could do tricks professional humans would never hope to do. Coming to a stop after Hal wiped out trying to do a backflip off a downed tree the group cracked up as he breached the powdery snow like a whale coming out of the ocean. 

Thinking this a perfect place to stop and eat the food they brought the twins passed out food and sat down in the circle next to Hal still covered in a mountain of snow. Hal acting it up when Harper asked if he was okay, got kisses and a gentle touch until she caught on that he was fine, then she punched him in the arm and went to eat her sandwich. Laughing at the other boy's misfortune in judgment Jack cuddled up to Lucy and dug into his snack.

Franky couldn't believe his luck!?!  They stopped right in the middle of his trap and started eating. He couldn't have planned it better if he was pulling the strings. Completely shaking off any misgivings he might have of what he was about to do Franky flipped the switch and watched the entire mountainside go up in a huge white explosion. 

The snow and rock brought up from the blast started an avalanche and the whole mountain started to slide down right toward the Resort. Franky, feeling like the biggest idiot in the world forgot that the Resort would be in the way if the mountain did come down. Running for the door he left his friends high and dry eventually stealing a car from a human and driving out of town while the avalanche covered the Resort completely. Just narrowly saving his own life Franky started driving home to tell his Dad the good news.

The kids finishing their meal clicked on their skis and strapped on their boards. Just about to head down the mountain again huge explosions making their ears ring and throwing them every which way happened around them. Not really hurt by the blasts the kids quickly felt the ground underneath them start to move and slide down the mountain.

With quick thinking Jack helped everyone up and pushed them to go down the mountain taking the rear and making sure they were ahead of him. Going faster than the avalanche to start with Jack angled them to the side so they might have a chance of hitting the pass before the snow overtook them and buried them alive. 

Being hit by clumps of snow and rock the group fled in terror toward the pass as the avalanche gained on them. With seconds left to reach the pass in the mountain the group hurtled through the opening thinking they were safe. As the snow crashed into the wall and slowly started streaming through the narrow gap the kids didn't stop to turn around but ended up falling down a deep crevice in the rock they couldn't see. With the feeling of falling and a sudden smack all of the shifters were knocked unconscious and covered in snow and darkness.
