An unexpected derailment

MARK:

They were already in the car and he couldn’t do anything about it. Mark felt like a ball of frustration. He’d always been the go getter, the traditional popular guy in school who could do anything with just a snap of his fingers. Of course, it wasn’t as easy as it seemed but he’d never given up.

Why was he giving up so quickly now? He tried to understand his own thoughts. He knew a part of it was the danger to his friends and family. He also knew that wasn’t all, his dad played a key role in his decision.

He’d honestly thought he didn’t care about his father until her heard about him from Claire. Then, some hidden part of him came to light, a part he didn’t particularly like. This voice in his head kept telling him, my dad wasn’t who I thought; I didn’t know him at all.
