Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Katie -

She grabbed the back of my coat and quickly lead me away.

She yanked me beside another dumpster and pushed me against the wall, firmly.

Not too hard, but definitely with aggression.

Her hand went over my mouth and she looked at me in the eyes for the first time.

The moonlight hit just right.

Her eyes were dark brown, but the red blood vessels around the brown almost covered the rest of her eye.

Her pupils seemed to move a little, widening and narrowing again.

She changed her voice from before when she held the phone to her face.

Hooded Figure: ‘Hello, yes...you have to help her! This big scary man was robbing a lady in the alley a block from the movie theater. Yes, the one behind that restaurant. Please hurry, she was trying to fight him off, but he was so big! I just ran and called you!’

She removed her hand and wiped a few tears from my cheeks.

Hooded Figure: ‘She'll be ok kid. Now, you need to stay quiet while we get to my car. You're hurt, I can smell it. Are you ok to walk?'

I nodded, confused.

She grabbed me again and lead me to an abandoned lot where a business used to be.

She opened the door to the black car and I got in.

When she got in she tugged on her seatbelt, signaling for me to buckle up, so I did.

I could see her face now.

Pale flawless, porcelain like skin.

Full red lips.

Her eyes looked more normal, than before.

The engine cranked and she sped away.

I squeezed myself, trying to figure out what the hell was happening.

Hooded Figure: ‘What is your name, or what do you want it to be now, anyways?’

‘I-I'm Kaitlyn, I go by Katie a lot. You?’

Dani: ‘You can call me Dani. You're not bleeding too bad. Are you ok to wait a while for bandages?’

‘I don't think I'm bleeding...’

Dani: ‘Yes you are, I can smell it, but you're either in shock and can't tell, or it's so minor you don't feel it.’

‘You, smell it?’

Dani: ‘You'll have a lot of questions, but you need to just relax for now. Ok?’

‘O-ok.’

My teeth chattered again.

Dani: ‘Oh shit, you must be freezing. Here.’

Heat started blasting from the vents and warming my face.

I held one hand over two different vents still shaking.

‘Thank you.’

We rode in silence for half an hour or so.

I had turned the heat down and gotten comfortable in the passenger seat, staring out the window into the night.

She spoke again handing me her phone that was opened to a note pad application.

Dani: ‘You'll need to eat. Type in the kinds of food you like, make a list, and we'll stop so I can get it.’

‘I-I ate already, at the theater, but thank you.’

Dani: ‘I don't just mean for tonight. You'll need food tomorrow, and the next day....’

Confusion was consuming my mind, but I just did as she said and started typing things in.

Dani: ‘Do you want to wear my clothes until we can buy you some online, or do you want me to try and find you some tonight?’

‘Doesn't matter, but I don't have very much...’

Demi: ‘Don't worry about money, but put your sizes on the list.’

‘Um, ok...’

Demi: ‘Do you take any medicine or anything like that I should know about?’

‘I have allergies...but I can take benadryl....’

Dani: ‘Add it to the list. Anything you can think of you'd need tonight?’

‘Earbuds? I forgot mine, they're usually in my purse, but I had them out...’

Dani: ‘Add them. I meant anything relevant. If you put it on the list I'll get it.’

‘Oh, well I don't know what's relevant, since I don't quite know what's going on...really...’

Dani: ‘We'll have a long chat tomorrow.’

We pulled in a little while later to a twenty four hour Target.

Dani: ‘You need to stay here.’

She unbuckled.

‘Ok...’

Her face moved inches from mine.

Dani: ‘I wish I could trust you, but sadly we aren't there yet. So you're going to go to sleep, and not wake up until I tell you to.’

She looked at me intently.

‘I can try.’

She pulled her face away confused.

Dani: ‘I didn't want to have to do to this....open your mouth.’

She pushed her thumb against her upper canine tooth and I opened my mouth.

Her thumb went into my mouth and out of instinct I tried pulling away, but she held my lower jaw.

Our eyes locked and I froze.

Dani: ‘You're going to do whatever I say. Right now, that's laying back in that seat and going to sleep. You won't wake up until I tell you to, but there's no need to fear. If you're in any danger, at all, I will know, and I will take care of you. Now sleep.’

Everything went black and I felt her guide me to a it correctly in the seat then lean it back.
