Days and weeks have passed and everything went exactly as they promised to each other.
Lorenzo gave peace to Cheska and acted like they’re not existing in each other’s eyes. And just like before, they don’t often go to Lee University not unless they want to.
That’s why whatever their agreement is, it’s just like nothing to him.
Whenever their eyes met, Cheska is always the first one to look away. And he’s grateful for that because if she won’t, he would only be tempted to talk to her.
He has a lot of things to ask her. He wants to know more about her.
But he can’t. He might be arrogant in her eyes, he still knows how to be a man of his words.
He thought a normal girl would never pique his interest. He never saw someone from the Outside World as interesting. They don’t do anything different. They don’t do things they do.
They’re boring. They’re normal—just how everyone describes them.
But Cheska is different. He underestimated her toughness. He thought her bravery was baseless and she would eventually turn into a scaredy-cat once she saw a real fight.
But what he saw that night is completely the opposite. She’s tough inside and out. He still would never forget how her eyes sparkled as she watched them fight.
Is she that stupid to think that a fight like that is entertainment?
She watched them as if they’re some entertainers. She watched them as if she’s only watching a movie. As if it wasn’t happening right in front of her.
Normally, an outsider would already be shaking.
But on top of that, he’s satisfied with the outcome. He doesn’t care if they won just because their opponents lost their focus because of Cheska. After all, it’s not the title he’s after.
Just like studying at Lee University, he’s not there because of the name. He’s studying there to gather any information about Lees.
And winning that game is the same. If he wins, he would be one step closer to his objective.
He needs more sources so he would be able to face the Lees sooner than he’s expecting. He’s getting itchy as the day passes by. He needs them in front of his eyes soonest.
So what’s the game really all about?
As said before, Underground World is an open world to which anyone can enter with the notice of its leader. And in order to be on top, they must beat whoever is up there.
So, who is up there?
Of course, it’s the leader of the Underground World—the strongest gangster or the strongest group of gangsters.
However, he doesn’t know who they are. The only thing he knows is he needs to defeat those three.
Normally, people from the Underground World hide their identity by covering their faces for their safety so he doesn’t find it suspicious or make an effort to know what’s behind those disguises. I
t’s the rule of the Underground World and it would be inappropriate to disobey it.
Since the leader has finally been beaten, they have to take his place.
And since there’s a certain rule for the mistresses, masters, bosses, and presidents forbidding them to rule two worlds or two groups at the same time, Lorenzo asked Ralph to be the leader of the Underground World instead.
Just like what was mentioned before, he’s only after the title’s advantage and not the title itself. He's not interested to be the leader of the Grounders.
Now, Black Phoenix, his group is leading the Underground World. Red Phoenix, Cj’s group is defeated. They thought of it on the spot. Alex’s the one who came up with that name.
Since no one disagreed, it became the official name of their group. And leading the Underground means they’re classified as gangsters too.
“I hope we’ll get something by defeating those guys.”
Alex is only resting his chin while playing cards with Kenneth and Ralph. Xander is in front of his laptop while listening to music and Lorenzo is just sitting on his swivel chair, moving it slowly from side to side while his pointer finger is on his temple, thinking silently and deeply.
“Are you sure about this? That if we lead that world, we’ll be one step closer to meet the Lees?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course, it is,” said Ralph with a judging tone. “Underground World is also created by Lees. If you look at it closely, we’re carrying the same title as the master.”
“Oh!” his eyes widened, he remembered something. His eyes are now on Lorenzo. “So what I heard this morning isn’t a rumor then? The mistress has finally stepped down? Everyone’s celebrating it so…why aren’t we? I’m sure you want that to happen, right?”
“Abdication isn’t enough. Her husband is still leading the Mafia World. Still a Lee,” he said, hasn’t averted his gaze from nowhere. “I’m sure she only did that to play it safe. It’s just an act to prove her innocence. There’s no reason to celebrate it.”
“Wow…you’re really mad at them huh?” he returned his focus to the cards. “It’s like you want them, all of them out of the Mafia World. Or…dead? Correct me if I’m mistaken.”
“Tch,” Lorenzo only frowned and moved closer to his desk to watch his three friends sitting on the floor.
Xander is the only one sitting on the couch, living in his own world again.
“Our world was doing good. We are even classified as the perfect world. But those people…they ruined it. They used their power for their own desires.”
“I’m still surprised they can do that. It’s just so unbelievable. The first generation of their family seems good. Perhaps the mistress—the former mistress is different. It’s not like you can inherit all of the good traits that your parents have.”
“Yea…” he nodded slowly, completely agrees with the idea. “You might come from a decent bloodline, if you are dirty, you are dirty."
Alex didn’t respond anymore and gave his complete focus to the game.
Well, it’s because he was scolded by his playmates to just leave the game if he’ll continue conversing with Lorenzo.
It’s just that…they have to pause the game because his attention is on him. He doesn’t do multitasking so he had to finish his talk first before dropping his cards.
And when he finally drops his cards, that’s when the game only resumes.
Imagine when the game would end if the conversation continues?
Lorenzo looked at his silent friend. “Xander, I know you can hear me. I need you to look for information about Cheska Park.”
They all looked up. Even Ralph who’s not facing his way turned his head only to see if he is joking.
Lorenzo stared at them innocently. “What?”
“Why?”
“I’m…curious?”
“But it’s more than a week since it happened. Why only now?”
“I had lots of things to think about. I had no spaces in my mind for her,” he lied.
He just doesn’t want to show his interest to that girl—not literally to her but in her life.
If he asked for it right after they went home knowing he had the most questions to her before leaving the casino, it would only look like he’s interested—very interested.
Xander didn’t say anything but later on, he started to walk towards Lorenzo. That’s a surprise. He said the order just a minute ago.
When he saw the screen, his brows furrowed. Even the three left their cards instantly and ran to his desk, not just to his desk but to his back.
Looks like he’s wrong, he’s not the only one who’s interested in Cheska. Everyone is curious too and they’re all holding back that curiosity.
They saw nothing on the screen. It’s blank. It’s only her name and her age. Aside from that, it’s nothing. The 'no more information’ phrase keeps blinking on the screen.
Unbelievable. All those days of holding back...was for nothing?
“This isn’t right, right?” he looked up to Xander. “There’s no way there’s no more information about her.”
“Yea. It’s either the information is deleted or she’s not what we think she is—” that made him think. He feels like he chose the wrong words. “…or she’s not what she actually looks like?”
“The first one,” Alex answered which made Xander frowned. He doesn’t want the answer from him. “After that night, she doesn’t look innocent to me at all. And before, her face doesn't look weak. She's tough inside and out, as we see her."
“If it’s deleted, why would someone delete it?” Ralph crossed his arms, sharing the same reaction as everyone else. “He doesn’t want anyone to see it? So he knows someone is going to search for her?”
“Did Cheska delete it?”
“She should be as skillful as me when it comes to hackings or even better than me,” he glanced at the laptop where Lorenzo is focused while blinking a couple of times, hoping something more would pop out. “since the information is deleted. It’s another level of hacking. No history left either. Whoever did this, he’s good.”
Their focuses were interrupted when someone opened the door harshly slamming it really hard on the wall. The hit was so hard that if it isn’t just costly, it’s already broken.
It made Lorenzo’s face darkened. He might be rich…wealthy, but he still cares for his things.
And his face became darker when he saw who did it to his door.
The clicking of her heels is the only sound that can be heard inside the room. Her long blonde hair danced as she takes her steps towards Lorenzo. She walks as if the room is her runway.
She rested her hands on the table and plastered a playful smirk on her lips. She leaned closer only to see his face closely.
Lorenzo didn’t lean back, he just looked at her with his furrowed brows, not pleased.
“Did you miss me, baby?”
