So You Are That Cheska

The next day feels so normal for Cheska—which she really likes. She is getting used to the strange environment of Lee University.

And her relationship with her classmates is getting better and better. She's not having any problem dealing with people on the same level as hers.

Commoners get along with each other and as a Commoner too, she now has new friends aside from Brittany.

However, there will always be some certain people who throw hate just because of ridiculous reasons. But Cheska? She tends not to mind it.

When she gets inside, Brittany is always there. She’s always earlier than her.

She’s about to greet her but she stopped midway. Her eyes accidentally went to the people behind her.

That’s surprising. Well, they’re absent for about a week? And now they’re just…there. It really is weird.

Whenever she’s expecting them the least that’s exactly when they appear from thin air.

She resumed her greeting. Brittany greeted her back with her usual sweet smile and high energy.

Since she’s busy doing something on her phone, Cheska took out her book for the first period and started her advanced reading. She hates going to class carrying nothing especially since some of their teachers love the idea of surprise recitation.

She doesn’t want to stand and look dumb in front of their class. She hates it even if she still hasn’t experienced that one.

But she knows it’s very traumatic since she witnessed some of her classmates before suffering from humiliation.

She’s always ready. She always wants to be ready. So if by any chance someone will throw something at her, she has something too to throw it back. But much better.

And another reason for her advanced reading is because of the subject itself. It’s Mathematics—a not so delicious breakfast for students.

After a couple of minutes of waiting, the first teacher for this day has finally arrived. Good thing there's no surprise recitation happened. That’s good.

What would she ask anyway? She has to teach something first before doing that and as far as she knows, their topic for today is new.

In the middle of the class, she sighed and darted her gaze outside the window. That is what she was talking about. That is the reason why she prefers to sit beside a window. The boredom she’s been expecting has finally struck.

What would she do if she’s not there? She would be really bored as hell.

For her, appreciating the beauty of the garden is much more interesting than listening to random numbers and lines.

Sure, she loves knowledge but her brain still gives up on Mathematics. She hates it. She hates counting. She hates solving the problems she didn’t even create, to begin with.

There are only selected pitiful people who have granted a brain that can understand any of the topics that Mathematics has. Fortunately, she’s not one of those ‘selected’ people.

Well yes, she’s not sad about that. It’s not depressing. Contrary to that, being ignorant in Mathematics is a gift—for her.

Imagine being so good at it? Their brains will be full of numbers and equations and lines and simple yet complicated circles which are all useless for their futures.

Math geeks must really have a stressful and awful brain. She’s glad hers doesn’t have to solve such complex problems.

She returned her gaze forward when she heard their teacher bickering about some students who don’t pay attention to the subject and also to some students who are talking and sleeping.

She only scowled at it and started to write in her notebook while her chin is resting on her palm.

“Just who the hell invented this subject…” she muttered, still writing. “…I’ll resurrect him and kill him myself…”

She played the pen with her fingers while looking in front. Her eyes might be darted in that direction, still, no single information is going inside her mind. She tends to block all of it.

She’s going to take care of her mind and she won’t let any Math information invade it. She’s only avoiding any possible headaches. She doesn’t want that.

Still resting her chin on her palms, her eyes went to the door of her classroom. All of them did.

And it was because someone vigorously pushed the door slamming it to the wall. The strong impact made a strong sound making some of them shudder.

Her brows furrowed, looking at the girl who did it and wondering who she is.

“Good morning. I’m looking for someone and I assume she’s here.”

The teacher’s brow arched and crossed her arms, giving back the impudence she showed to her. “And who is this very important girl you’re looking for that you have to smash that door to the wall and interrupt my class, Ms. Byun?”

Cheska can hear whispers about the girl everywhere. They’re all surprised by her presence. Seeing her wearing the same uniform as hers, they immediately assumed—though it’s highly obvious—that she’s still studying there.

While Cheska, since the other students know her while she is a stranger to her, she assumes that the girl is an old student unlike her.

But…why is she only seeing her now? It’s been almost a month since the opening of classes and a girl like her? She would notice it right away even if she’s meters away from her.

“Cheska,” Alexandra said with a sweet smile. “Her name is Cheska. Where is she?”

No one answered. Cheska’s expecting pointing fingers and stares at this moment but she saw none of them. The classroom almost turned into a library because of its silence. The silence is deafening.

“Second to the last row. The one seating behind the window,” one girl said.

Alexandra’s eyes darted like an arrow to the place that was mentioned. Her brow raised when she met Cheska’s eyes, only staring at her innocently.

She went inside even without the permission of the teacher. She’s turned into a deaf woman while walking straight to Cheska.

She ignored everything, literally everything. Her eyes are only on her and only her.

Cheska didn’t budge on her seat. She only followed Alexandra as she takes her steps to her using her eyes.

When she has finally closed her distance from her, she rested both hands at her desk and gave her a sinister smile.

“So you are that Cheska huh?”
