Ever since Cheska stepped her foot inside Lee University, she never once felt the cold fear—the kind of fear which can make someone freeze, release cold sweats, and forget how to think and speak properly.
She may have already faced the two strongest mafias studying in that university, still, she hasn’t experienced the feeling of that kind of fear.
Not until now.
Her hands are trembling, her neck is like being gripped by sharp thorns tightly. She cannot move from where she is standing, she cannot look around, she can’t even move her lips.
She’s not mad, she’s not pissed.
She’s scared. She’s in fear.
The silence is deafening that only her breath and her beating heart are the only sound she could hear.
Her frozen body only moved when Lorenzo fell in front of her. She caught him with her trembling hands, however, they almost fell because even her legs are shaking in fear.
Should she feel grateful for that fall? Because if not because of that, she might be still standing there stupidly and doing nothing helpful.
Lorenzo’s head is just resting on her shoulders. He’s heavier than he naturally is. All of his weight is on her.
Even if he doesn’t want to put so much weight on her, his body is just giving up. He can’t do anything. He has no control over his body. It's making him weak enough not to help himself.
Cheska can now perfectly see the kunai buried on his back. His white polo is now soaked in his blood and it is starting to spread all over his cloth.
It gave her more panic. She doesn’t know what to do. She has never seen so much blood in her life.
What exactly should she do? She might hurt Lorenzo even more if she tries to do something unsure.
“Re…remove…” he muttered, gasping for air. “…it…please…”
Due to his heavy voice, Cheska instantly pulled the weapon out of his back. She clearly heard the sound it created—the sound of tissues in his body that is being torn because of the blade.
Lorenzo's continuous gasping for air became worse and worrisome.
Cheska’s eyes roamed around the corners of their classroom. All of her classmates are just watching in shock. Even they did not escape from the event that they have never once foreseen.
Her eyes only stopped when she finally saw the girl she’s looking for. She’s indeed panicking that she forgot she’s just right there, beside her.
“B—Brittany,” she called. That’s when she realized that even her voice is rough and trembling. “Call…call the president…please.”
Luckily, Brittany didn’t waste even a second. She instantly left their room completely ignoring anyone whom she might get bumped into.
She ran into the hallway as fast as she can. She doesn’t even know where to look for the president but she’s not going to stop until she finds him.
Slowly, Cheska dropped Lorenzo to a chair, not averting her gaze from him.
She just stared at him, deeply, seeing if she can still do what she wants to do.
She’s just going to divert her attention from him for a split second. It won’t take that long.
He has to hold on. He can do that, right?
Can't he?
She turned away from him. Lorenzo even tried to grab her wrist to stop her from what she’s about to do but he is too weak.
He knows...he knows what she's about to do.
His arms dropped together with his eyelid but it only lasted for a second.
He can’t sleep. He can’t die there. That’s not the kind of death he’s expecting for himself.
He can’t die just because of some Commoner’s absurdity.
Cheska marched to one girl, the cause of the commotion today. She’s glaring at her and with every step she takes, Julie can feel the heat of her anger slowly by slowly.
She’s like a walking fire that their classmates had to move away, to leave her sight or else they will be burned by her heat too.
She grabbed her neck and pushed her to the board that was still far from where she was standing.
Julie was forced to step backward because of Cheska’s undeniable force. And her distance from the board is the reason for the strong and loud impact.
It’s too strong that it made everyone shudder in shock. That it made her groan quietly.
It's painful. The pain is all over her back but she can’t release the pain properly because of the hand gripping her neck.
She’s too strong that her feet have lifted to the ground. She tried her best to free herself from the torture of losing air but to no avail.
Is no one going to help her? Anyone in the same world as hers?
Her long claw-like nails started to bury in Cheska’s arms. But even that is not painful for her.
Her anger is just so intense that it is the only emotion she can feel. Anger has surpassed her fear a minute ago.
Pain is not what she must feel now.
“If something happens to him…” she said ferociously. “I am…going to kill you myself.”
Isn’t she trying to kill her already? That’s what on her mind. That’s what she wants to ask but she’s too vulnerable to speak.
She’s slowly losing too much air. Her red lips have started to dry up and her head is starting to get cold, her body is getting numb as well.
Is no one really going to help her?
Someone forcefully grabbed Cheska’s arm. It exceeds her strength and not to mention, she felt no one coming to her so she had no chance to protect herself from any person who dares to try to stop her.
That person just suddenly appeared beside her. Who would have thought someone has the guts to get close to her even if the fire is burning wildly?
Their eyes met together with the sound of Julie’s fall to the ground. Only two students went to her to check her. If all of them went to her, they might only make her situation even worse.
She needs air. She’s pale, really pale, and really weak that she can’t even open her eyes properly.
Cj is just staring at Cheska’s burning eyes intently. Slowly, the fire is starting to get weak. She suddenly remembered why he’s there.
Right, she’s the one who asked for him.
Her gaze instantly returned to Lorenzo. Someone is trying to hold his shoulder because if he won't do that, Lorenzo will fall to the ground.
He’s slowly losing his consciousness.
She ran to him making Cj lose his grip. He just followed her using his eyes until it reaches Lorenzo.
His eyes widened. What is happening?
Now she finally understands why Brittany sounded like someone is about to die—someone is indeed dying.
The level of her panic is on a different level compared to when Cheska got cornered by Lorenzo. He even had to hold both of her shoulders only to make her calm so she could speak properly.
Gladly, it helped and worked. But the thing is, right after she mentioned his sister’s name, he ran away as fast as he can—so, he failed to hear what Brittany was about to say.
“P—president!” Cheska called and shot a glance at him. He’s still standing there dumbfounded. “Cj!”
He flinched. It’s like someone has struck his head when Cheska screamed for his name.
While walking quickly to where Lorenzo is seated, Cj pressed something on his watch. Then he ran to them.
He sat in front of Lorenzo and tapped his cheeks lightly.
He’s worried. That’s his best friend. Was his best friend.
“Are you awake?”
Lorenzo’s eyes slightly opened up. That’s enough answer for Cj.
But what the hell is happening?
He has no time to ask yet about the details of the situation. He can’t even avert his eyes away from him. He needs to focus on this one first.
Later on, two boys appeared at the doorway of their classroom, both are gasping for air because of running.
Without the students' permission, they went inside and went right where Cj is found. Their eyes slightly widened after seeing Lorenzo’s situation.
“Take him to the entrance,” Cj ordered and stood up. He took his phone out of his pocket. “My driver will be there in a few seconds. Make it fast.”
Ron and Sean carried Lorenzo from arm to arm. His arms are all around their napes. Everyone went away. Everyone who’s blocking their way moved aside.
If there are watchers on the inside, more watchers are found outside the classroom. Who wouldn’t be intrigued anyway?
The commotion spread all over the corners of the school like a fire in the woods. Especially when they heard the name 'Lorenzo'.
Cj is in the middle of his conversation with her driver when he noticed that his sister is going somewhere. She just took her phone from her table then she proceeded to walk to the door.
He dropped first the call before grabbing her wrist. “Are you hurt?”
Cheska shook her head right away and held his hand. She slowly removed it from her wrist. “I’m…I’m sorry but I have to cut my class again…”
Cj had no time to speak. He just stood there while watching her sister running away.
When Cheska is finally out of his eye’s reach, his eyes roamed around the place seeing how many students have cut their classes only to watch something they’re not even required to watch.
“Go back to your seats and classrooms now and wait for your next teacher,” he said strictly while putting his phone back in his pockets. “Vice President with me. Now.”
Sophia left the room. She didn’t bother to wait for Cj since he went to Julie first.
He stopped in front of her, the wide distance remained. He looked down at her with his head raised.
There’s no single pity in his eyes. He’s just simply looking at her without any sympathetic emotions.
“I have to talk to you first before letting you go to the principal’s office to claim the punishment you deserve,” he said. “For now, focus on taking back your life. I’ll be waiting for you until this afternoon.”
He left the room in silence. He can’t help but release a deep and heavy sigh because of the events.
He was just busy listening to his class when Brittany suddenly opened the door harshly only to excuse him. He even had to apologize to his teacher on her behalf.
He’s the president of his own school for so long and up until now, it surprises him when some students are making commotions again.
What’s not surprising to him is when Alexandra is the one who’s causing the chaos.
