The Universal Rule for the Leaders

He blinked repeatedly.

Did Kenneth create a pit hole on the spot and he fell right to it stupidly and quickly?

He even cut off his accusation.

Was that question a trap? So he could finally get the answer out of him?

Kenneth can really be this awful at some times.

“I don’t know, alright? I don’t want to think about it too much. I just want to protect that girl from Alexandra.”

“Speaking of her, you know you will be married to her after this.”

“And you really are mentioning that right now that we’re talking about Cheska?”

Kenneth gave him a meaningful smug look. “Why? Do you find Alexandra’s involvement while we’re talking about your dear Cheska inappropriate?”

“Stop that.” he looked away and sighed. “...that girl is so far from any other girls out there. She’s different yet simple. Simple yet interesting. She’s neither a Commoner, a Mafia nor Grounder. You cannot place her under any categorization because her existence itself is…unique.”

Kenneth blinked a couple of times with his gaping mouth. “Wow, you do like her…”

He has never heard Lorenzo describing someone like that. Uniqueness is the best compliment he can give to someone.

He never showed any interest to someone—even the slightest. He has no time to observe.

That’s why now that he’s hearing how he describes Cheska…that proves his claims.

Lorenzo, the man who doesn’t care about anyone has now someone he cares about. Talk about irony.

“She has the heart and dedication of a Commoner, the intelligence and strength of a Mafia, and the bravery and bloodlust of a Grounder,” Lorenzo went on with his sparkling eyes, impressed. Someone has successfully moved his unmovable heart. “She’s all in one. That’s why…”

The smirk of amusement came back to Kenneth’s lips. “The great Mr. Young is now in great danger huh?”

That made him sigh. “Yea…perhaps I am…”

Kenneth chuckled a bit to it. He’s indeed having fun seeing Lorenzo having a hard time with the problem he created himself. He’s having fun seeing him getting confused because of one girl.

That last time he saw all of those was a very long long time ago. He can’t even remember how long it has been.

“I have nothing against your feelings but as your friend for so long, don’t forget the universal rule for the leaders. Any leaders from any world are not allowed to marry someone who is not part of their world. Most especially if the one they’re marrying is also a leader like them,” he said. “I don’t want to see you with a broken heart. That would be really epic. I might laugh for the whole month because of amusement. Please don’t give me such torture.”

“You keep pinning on me that I like that girl and now you’re talking about how I cannot like her and she’s not going to be mine." he winced.

“Oh, you can like her whatever you want,” he cleared out. “but she will never be yours.”

“She’s not a leader—“

“She’s from the other world—“

“She doesn’t act like a Commoner in the first place? She’s like a Mafia. That still won’t do?”

Kenneth gave him a judgmental look. “That’s...a really stupid question Love can really make anyone stupid huh?”

“Shut it.” he looked away in embarrassment. He was just asking. A question isn’t harmful, is it? He can’t dismiss the possibilities, can he?

He laughed. Then, later on, smiled at him in relief. “It’s nice seeing you focusing on other things aside from avenging…I understand what you want to do but you…you deserve to take a break from it. Your likeness to that girl is like a devil in disguise.”

“It’s fun living without the idea of avenging, sure…” Lorenzo nodded a bit to it. “But I can’t rest now. I’m still so far from them. I have to move, to work more. I cannot let another year pass without seeing any of them.”

“You will get the justice you want. Justice will be served. Just take it slowly. You have to be careful. Lees are very dangerous. You won't be able to claim the justice if you are dead.”

“I won’t let them.” his shaking fist clenched. His mood has suddenly changed right after Kenneth spoke about his agenda. “My organization isn’t the second to the strongest, the organization next to them for nothing. I worked so hard for this, I will never ever let my life be taken away by the same family who took my mother’s and my brother’s life.”

“That’s a relief to hear that you still haven’t lost the sight of bringing justice to your family.” Kenneth smiled a bit and turned away from him. “I’ll check the other three. Just call me if you need anything. Your body still needs cleaning because of the poison. I’ll give you the medicines later. Just rest for now.”

Before walking away for good, Lorenzo spoke.

“How about you? Don’t you see your best friend on that girl?”

It made him stop but he remained himself facing in a different direction. He suddenly remembered what he asked Cheska yesterday.

He still can’t believe it. He can’t believe he failed to hold himself to ask the question, to let it escape from his mouth.

That was a very stupid thing to do. The moment he started to compare her to his late best friend was the time when he lost track of his movements.

“I did. Once,” he answered honestly. “but it is something that must not be entertained anymore. My best friend died a very long time ago. Dead people cannot be brought back to the land of the living.”

Many days have passed and Alexandra still hasn’t shown herself since that day.

And since she’s not attending any of her classes, Lorenzo and his company see no reason to attend theirs as well.

For the past days, they focused only on their recovery and their goal—catching the Lees.

“So, Cj actually saved you?”

Lorenzo is sitting in the middle of the table in the dining of their mansion, currently eating their lunch.

After his talk with Kenneth, he decided to move right after their recovery and waste no time. That’s why they had no time to reminisce about the details that occurred a week or two ago.

So now that they’re not doing anything, they decided to open the topic—though they already asked Kenneth the questions they’ve been dying to ask about Cheska’s involvement.

“No, not literally,” Lorenzo answered without looking at Alex. His focus is completely on his plate.

“But the car is his and the driver as well.”

“Don’t make it sound like it’s a special thing.” he finally averted his gaze. “He’s the president. It’s his job to help the students if they’re in danger.”

He doesn’t understand why it sounds so big deal to them.

He would somehow understand their unnecessary reactions if he was the one who carried him and brought him to the hospital.

But as far as he remembers, he wasn't.

“If it’s the other students, it would mean nothing. But since you were best friends before, we find it special…or intriguing perhaps?” Ralph pointed out making Lorenzo winced in displeasure.

“After what happened, we assumed he won’t take any actions may it be good or bad no matter what your situation is. You know…the ending of your friendship didn’t end that well.”

“He did that as a president, I said,” he repeated. “I’m sure if he’s not the president, he won’t do anything. Let’s stop talking about this matter—”

“Your friendship ended because of Alexandra, right?” Kenneth cut off. He received a deep meaningful looks from Lorenzo, telling him not to add something more but he only averted his gaze. “Didn’t he tell you that it was she who initiated the kiss? Cj has nothing to do with it.”

It made him sigh deeply. He really doesn’t want to talk about it but his friends suddenly turned deaf.

For clarification, it’s not a sensitive topic for him. He just sees no reason to still talk about it.

It almost happened for almost a year. A lot of things had already happened. They have more important and intriguing things to talk about.

But looks like they find his personal life more intriguing today.
