“I’ll just take the Lobster Ravioli.”
Fine dining restaurant, that’s where Joshua and Cheska are found for today. Joshua decided to eat outside instead on their mansion which they usually do.
Cheska is clueless as well as what’s has gotten to his mind. He just suddenly asked her to change her clothes since they’re going 'somewhere'.
This is like their first time eating outside.
When the waiter finally left, that’s when Cheska decided to throw the question she’s been dying to ask.
“Why are we eating outside? Payday?”
She had no chance earlier because Joshua was doing something. His eyes were totally fixed on his phone and he only averted his gaze from it when they had to leave the car.
“I’m the one who gives salaries.”
“Oooh…” her eyes squinted as she gives her brother a smug look. “So arrogant huh?”
He only winced at it and took his phone. There he is again. “I’m not in the mood to cook.”
“We have maids.”
“Fine. I just really want to eat outside. Nothing special behind this. Besides, you’re the one who will pay.”
Her brows knitted. Silence engulfed the two of them. She’s waiting for him to announce that it was a joke but she heard nothing.
His eyes are now on his phone. Again.
Minutes have passed, she still heard nothing.
“I think I’m being deaf?”
His eyes flicked up with his knitted brows. “Why? You’re the oldest?”
Her jaw dropped. She’s not hearing things. That was really what he said.
“Hold up. Hold up. All my life, you always treat me like I’m the youngest. But now that we’re talking about paying, I’m the eldest?”
His head tilted to one side. “Youngest? When did I?”
“Stop acting innocent!”
Joshua’s eyes left her and traveled to the people around them, he suddenly felt more eyes looking in their direction.
“Older sister,” he called making Cheska scowl even more. “This is a fine restaurant. Unnecessary noise is strictly prohibited—”
“Joshua—!”
“Older sister,” he called again and stared at her deeply. “…they’re looking at us.”
That’s when she only realized what is happening.
Some people are indeed looking in their direction because of her inappropriate yells. Some are even giving them disgusting looks.
She felt like she just lost her manners—well, she really did. The hell she knows about the etiquette of fancy restaurants?
This is her first time eating in that kind of place as said before.
She only drank the water that was served to them just to ease her feeling. Again, her eyes wandered around the place.
The looks have slowly left them, that’s a relief.
Her eyes stopped at one table. It’s not far away from them. It caught her attention because she noticed something…strange.
Her eyes squinted, to see clearly who exactly is sitting at that table. When she realized who could it be, she coughed. Loudly.
She just got choked by the innocent water she’s simply drinking.
Joshua looked at her in confusion. “What happened?”
She failed to give him any answer. How is she going to do that anyway?
She can’t stop herself from coughing as she clenches her chest. She tried her best to lower her voice since she’s receiving another disgusting look.
Can’t they be considerate now? She got choked. It’s not her fault?
Is it?
“What is happening?” Joshua asked with the tone of being stressed.
How can she get choked anyway? No one’s talking to her, no one’s touching her.
Cheska’s eyes went to Lorenzo again. He’s facing their direction while talking to someone so she can perfectly see his face.
He’s wearing sunglasses so he doesn’t know if he’s looking in their direction—wait, why is she wondering that anyway?
Why would he look at her place in the first place?
But is that even him?
She can’t be mistaken.
Even with the glasses, she’s familiar with his nose, lips, and even the shape of his face. His wavy ivy league hairstyle is exposing his forehead and thick brows.
He sure looks gentlemanly and decently. Perhaps his semi-formal attire is helping him to look like one.
Before, he’s just talking to the person in front of him seriously. Now, smiles because of amusement are appearing on his lips. That made her wonder.
Who is he talking to and he’s smiling? That’s just so out of his character—though it’s not her first time seeing his smiles.
However, his smiles today are genuine. Her eyes went to the person he’s talking to. She can’t see it properly since there’s one person who’s blocking the way.
Who could be the person who’s making him amused? Is he on a date? Is he talking to a girl? So he’s interested after all in dating? He doesn’t look like one.
Wow, when it really comes to him, she is judgmental. She feels awful.
Her eyes averted from him when Joshua held her hand. He started to wipe the water on it using a tissue.
Looks like it spilled while she got choked and coughing.
“Ask us again why we’re still treating you like a baby.”
“Didn't know choking and coughing are only for adults..."
Joshua only gave her a look for her sarcasm. Cheska pouted. Those are the stares she can’t win against.
Her eyes went again to Lorenzo, he’s not smiling anymore. That made her frown even more.
“What a bipolar…” she muttered and rested her chin on her palms.
But it’s good seeing him doing fine. He seems fine.
She’s expecting that anyway since it has already been a week or two since that last time she saw him. She just simply knows Lorenzo will be fine after taking him to the hospital.
Bad weed never dies. She knows that.
She stared at him. He seems normal by just taking a glance. He looks so much better when she’s looking at him from afar, where she cannot reach him by her hands.
Why does he look normal when he's far? He looks so dreamy and ideal. Like the perfect boyfriend that everyone’s been dreaming to have.
How could he look so angelic and dreamy when he’s far and so much hard to handle and so much hard to absorb when he’s near?
She groaned in frustration. Talk about complicated.
“Who are you looking at—”
Joshua didn’t succeed in turning his gaze to his back when Cheska suddenly clapped his cheeks and forcefully faced him back to her.
His chubby cheeks are now exposed. What made him look cuter, his brows are furrowed.
Cheska blinked repeatedly. Behind his maturity and strict personality is an angel who is as cute as a baby.
This one is much more angelic than how she described Lorenzo earlier.
“What are you doing?”
“Wow…I didn’t know you can be this cute…” she said in awe and squeezed it more. “How could a boy who is as cute as this can be so strict and terrifying?”
Joshua’s one eye is now closed because of what she’s doing. “Stop it…”
Cheska chuckled and kissed his forehead. She felt her seniority to him for only a split of a second. That will do.
“You’re weird…” he just stared at his sister as if she’s the strangest person he has ever seen in her life—that’s somehow true.
His sister is indeed strange.
Cheska returned to sitting with a relief. Looks like Joshua isn’t going to turn his head again.
“Can’t I kiss my younger brother’s forehead?”
“It’s just all of a sudden.” and he returned his attention to his phone as if nothing has happened.
Cheska only leaned against the backrest of her seat and sighed. She did everything she could just to avoid looking at Lorenzo.
And she did that until the food is served.
