I Do Not Like Someone Moving Against Me

“I heard you took your sister outside?”

Joshua left the papers he’s holding when he heard his mother’s voice from behind.

He’s now at their company. Again.

It’s still morning yet he already has a lot of papers to sign up for. He failed to do it yesterday so he’s doing it now. Without any more delay.

“Yea…” he answered nonchalantly and resumed.

“Why you didn’t tell me?”

“You were busy.”

“You should have at least left a message. You know I don’t allow your sister to go in any place aside from her school or unless with me.”

“I was with her, mom,” he reminded. “That is not a problem before.”

Arnie didn’t speak but her deep stares at her son’s back remained. His hand isn’t stopping from signing. He’s doing it effortlessly as if he’s already used to it.

Well, he really is.

“I hope this will be the last time you do this to me, Joshua,” she said strictly. “I do not like someone moving against me especially behind my back.”

Joshua’s hand stopped and sighed deeply. He finally turned to her. “Mom, I am not moving against you. I just simply took her out. I don’t mean to do something more than that.”

The stares didn’t change. “You know why I am doing this. I know what you know.”

His jaw clenched and looked away.

“See?” Arnie stood up properly, arms are still crossed. She was leaning sideways against the wall.

“But I don’t have any other unpleasant intention of taking her outside. I just simply want to be with my sister, eat with her outside. It's been so long since the last time we did,” he said convincingly. “I don’t intend to bring her back to where she belongs. She’s our ace against that family. I cannot do something that can make us lose in this war.”

“That’s a relief to hear from you.” she nodded repeatedly, convinced. “I trust you, Joshua. You’re my son. Compare to your sister, I trust you the most.”

Joshua didn’t answer that one until Arnie turned her back to him. He closed his eyes tightly when she’s already out of his eyes’ reach.

He cursed inside his mind. He told that driver not to tell anything to anyone.

But it seems like…his loyalty is not to him but to their mom. Why is he even surprised?

Before going to the university, Cheska asked her driver to dropped her off for a while at the nearest café. She suddenly craved a vanilla shake.

She can’t hold herself anymore so even the sun still hasn’t risen completely yet, she’s right there in front of a café.

“Just wait for me here. This will be fast…”

When she got inside, warm temperature welcomed her—as usual since it is a café. It shouldn’t be hot nor cold.

Most of the customers are students from Lee University. It’s not a surprise though. The start of their class is too early that the students tend to look for something that could make them wake up.

But she’s not there because of that. She simply wants a vanilla shake.

She fell in line and waited for her turn patiently. She’s still calm since there’s still a lot of time until their first period starts.

Besides, the students won’t be there if that is the case.

When it’s finally her turn, she gave her order. While waiting for her order to come, someone from behind her spoke.

“Vanilla shake? In the morning?”

She turned to him. It’s an unfamiliar guy but he’s wearing also the boy’s uniform of Lee University. There’s a dark gray coat on top of it and the collar isn’t folded properly.

She wonders if it’s intentional or he forgot to fix it? Anyway, it looks good on him.

“U—uh…I just suddenly craved for it?”

“Aren’t you cold?”

She shook her head and returned her gaze in the front right at the moment she felt that someone is coming.

When she got her shake, she instantly left the café while sipping on it.

She smiled together with her sparkling eyes.

Cravings satisfied.

When she finally arrived at the university, tons of students standing at the entrance welcomed her eyes.

She stepped outside with a crease on her forehead. Did someone start a fight again?

But they’re all looking outside as if they’re…waiting for someone?

She tried to went pass through it. Thankfully she succeeded since some students gave way. There are some who did not since they’re too focused on what’s in front—though she sees no interesting right there.

Not far from the sea of people, she saw her best friend tip-toeing, trying to see what is on the opposite of it.

“What’s happening?”

“Oh, Cheska…I didn’t notice you.” she greeted and resumed what she was doing. “I don’t know exactly what’s happening either. But I heard someone is coming? Someone important perhaps? I can’t ask anyone since they’re all excited. They can’t hear me.”

“Oh right…” the straw left her lips. “The treasurer is coming today…”

She stood beside her and looked in the direction where Brittany is looking. She continued sipping on her drink.

“Treasurer?”

“I heard his name is Sebastian Azarcon. The treasurer in the student council. I heard yesterday he’s coming today but it is still a rumor.”

Brittany stopped tip-toeing when she heard screaming. She closed her eyes tightly because of its intensity. Cheska did the same.

Looks like this one is more famous than Lorenzo and Cj. There are no screaming every time they appear in front of the students. Mostly, it is only whispers and light screaming. Not as loud as this.

“Omg! He got more handsome!”

“He’s really coming today! I thought we’re waiting here for nothing!”

“His car is new again!”

Brittany and Cheska didn’t budge to where they are but they’re curious as well whoever that guy is.

Later on, the student started to move aside to give the new coming student a way to walk at.

Cheska stopped sipping again on her drink when she recognized the face. It was the guy who asked her earlier about her drink.

Looks like he bought a coffee drink—she can see it clearly from where she’s standing.

Sebastian smiled at the students. He’s not the snobbish type, unlike Cj and Lorenzo. He’s not bothered by the attention he is receiving. Contrary to that, it seems like he’s liking it.

Maybe that’s the reason why the students are so carefree to shout? Since they know or it’s obvious that guy Sebastian likes it?

Her stares got interrupted when someone went past her. She immediately knows who it was.

The president is now walking in Sebastian’s direction with both of his hands are inside the pockets of his pants.

When they noticed that the president is coming, slowly by slowly the screams faded.

When Cj got close to Sebastian, they gave each other a bro hug.

Looks like they're indeed close to each other. Cj literally went right there just to welcome him with a hug and Sebastian’s smiles are now wider compare to before.

It seems like Cj is pleased to see him again. She caught his smile for a split a second. He’s facing the same direction as hers so she only caught a glimpse of it.

After the hug, Cj's eyes went to the students. The smile disappeared.

“Go back to your classes now.”
