After the incident, I still can’t believe Dani carried me out of the classroom and to the nurses’ building after beating those guys with her bare hands. 


My heart can’t stop racing. Is it okay to feel like this? Should I run away? Should I― 


"What happened back there is none of your fault," Dani says, rousing me out of my thoughts before turning around to face away from me. "The nurse will be here soon, so don't try to get up." 


She turns around to look at me. "Don't mention it." 


"No, I was going to say you didn't have to save me. I deserve to feel pain for being this way." My voice cracks. 


Dani walks over to my bed and slams her hands on both sides of me. She looms over me, causing a feeling in my chest to blossom that I can not describe. I feel giddy inside but seeing her facial expression, my heart stings. Why does she look like that?
