Malory and Kyle must participate in the annual April Fest production as the leading co-stars. If they can cooperate by the end of the production, their long records of uncivilized behaviour towards each other will be forgotten. 
Malory and Kyle attempt to cooperate, grabbing the opportunity to make a positive impact on their own future. In the process, they become entangled in the chaos of the other’s personal life. Malory learns of Kyle’s disturbing reality, and Kyle learns of Malory’s scarring past. Can these two brilliant but messy teens learn to rely on each other in the face of their silent battles?

 Before Kyle’s crazy mess of a life collided with mine, I considered myself a normal human being. I had a pretty tight schedule; staying ahead at school, keeping busy at work, extracurricular activities, and finding productive methods to cope with my terrible home life that might have been able to help me move forward despite how bad things were. 


 After Kyle’s crazy mess of a life collided with mine, everything changed. Everything feels uncertain. The worst part is that tutoring Adrien is probably the most normal part of my life... and working with Katy. 


 Ron and Olivia have become corrupted by what they now know about Kyle and Ace and the secret criminal organisation –whatever it’s called. 


 I sit at home with my feet crossed over each other on the coffee table –a bad habit I’d taken up after my dad died. I’m binging on ice cream while the late night news is about to start.
