Chapter - 8

George Miles, upon completion of his recently successful mission which he planned out and executed perfectly using his friend Clyde as a cover got him an international client. He had yet some clients to settle, but he had already charted out how he's gonna deal with all those problems; anyways the work at hand was just a matter of few days. His secretary, Miriam walked into his room with an envelope containing his travel documents; she placed inside the hand bag that was on the table.

“So, again another extra-marital relation right; but this time it involves greater amount of money; correct me if I'm wrong.”

“You are right; money is the driving factor here. And; it's not because I'm greedy, there's a lot debtors I need to settle, otherwise they'll come and shut down my business. You get me?”

“Okay; I trust you, all the best.”

“Thank you; take care, of both yourself and this office till I comeback. Remember; no phone calls; use the usual method.”

George parked his Audi in the parking lot; he opened the trunk, took his bag and placed it down, he then lifted the trunk's layer and opened the suitcase beneath it. It was an advanced system for out-of-radar communications. He communicated some messages and closed it. Closing the trunk and locking the car, he walked towards the airport's entrance. After he was done with all the primary formalities, he finally settled down in the lounge. He swiped opened his phone and dialed Clyde's number, it was busy at the moment. He made another call, to his client; it was answered at the third ring,

“George Miles; I'm boarding the plane in the next ten minutes. I hope everything is ready, especially the weapons.”

“Yeah Miles, I've arranged everything. Your return journey, payments and everything is all set.”

“Well good, that's appreciative. I'm hanging up.”

He hung up and soon enough the flight announcement came by, he got up, picked his bag and walked towards the people queuing up, the line moved slow and finally got into the plane. He found his seat and settled down;

“Well, Detective Miles, it seems like you are on a mission again;”

George was startled at that, he turned to see the speaker,

“Clyde, you rascal, it's you. Bloody hell, what are you doing here; Jeez, you really freaked me out.”

“I was afraid you'll ring up my mom and that she'd blow climax the play. It was a total surprise, wasn't it?” “Well, I was really surprised. Well, where are you headed to?”

“You scoundrel, getting on a plane headed to Canada and asking a fellow passenger where's he headed to; well, I'm headed to a shopping on the next street, would you like to join?”

“Like mom, like son. Well, I'm heading for my job matters.”

“Student exchange, me and someone else too, I don't know. Anyways, we'll have fun, is it serious work you are having?”

“Yes, I'll be really busy. We'll catch up once we are back, ok?”

The passengers, everyone, was settled in their seats and wondering why the plane wasn't starting the journey. The beautiful air hostess apologized for the inconvenience. George called near the air hostess and asked what the matter was,

“Sir, a student who was supposed to be travelling checked in, but she is nowhere to be found, we've made a number of announcements, I guess she's heard it and is on her way."

Sure enough, just as the hostess finished speaking, a young beautiful lady walked into the plane. She checked her seat number and finally found it to be the one near to Clyde. She put her luggage in the space above and sat down ignoring all the peering eyes. Clyde was looking through his phone when she sat down, she tapped him on the shoulder, he turned towards her,

“Anna,” she introduced, “your co-traveler on this journey to and fro. I'm sorry; I fell asleep in the lounge. And you are?”

“I guess you need to apologize to the others too. Well, I am Clyde Stewart, former journalist but now a MBA student.”

“Well that's difficult, apologizing to everyone aboard.” “So Anna, just that, any second name I can address you with?”

“Sulthana actually, but Anna for the English people's convenience; you can call either.”

“I'll call you both then.”

The flight soon was ascending amongst the clouds towards greater heights. She was trying to doze off, but it seemed that sleep had deserted her. She lay on her pulled back seat and stared up at the ceiling. She occasionally glanced at Clyde, he was indulged in the music he was listening, and he was not asleep because she could see him tapping his finger against the music. At one point of time he saw her looking at him, she quickly smiled and he returned that smile. George had started dozing even before the plane took off, a private investigator should always be alert, Clyde thought. The air hostesses soon came arrived with their trolley of food. They stopped next to Clyde and Anna, after setting down their tray, the lady asked what drink would they like; “some coffee please,” Anna requested. “And you sir;” “Can I get some coffee too.” “Yeah sure,” the lady poured in and handed him the cup. He slowly sipped as he ate. When they were finally done with the eating, Clyde was ready to sleep through the rest of the journey. He pushed his seat backwards, pulled the thin sheet up to his neck and positioned himself to sleep. He saw that Anna was also trying to get some sleep; his eyes, slowly and gently closed and the last thing he saw was her beautiful brown eyes.
